I have no complaints about the hygienist, Nicole. On 4/8/26, I had an 11am appt. for scaling and…read moreroot care, followed by a digital scan for a partial. I waited about 3 hrs. without completing my appt. After the scaling, I was placed in a waiting area at 12:30, which became overcrowded by 1pm, due to a lack of seating, with one person standing and one sitting on another's lap. With no update or service, I went to the front waiting area and was told I was "next." I continued waiting until 1:40. Then I was told it would be approx 20 more minutes before I could be seen. Nearly 3 hrs later, I had to leave. More frustrating is that I had received multiple texts and emails reminding me of my 11am appt., yet scheduling was clearly not managed. I understand walk-ins are accommodated, but SCHEDULED appts should be prioritized in a timely manner. Given the excessive wait time and inability to complete my SCHEDULED services, it is unreasonable that I was then offered a rescheduled appt. nearly two weeks later. This reflects poor scheduling and disregard for patients' time. I should have been given priority rescheduling, along with consideration for compensation or courtesy adjustment due to the inconvenience. Marsha Lee

After suffering two sleepless nights from a toothache I got desperate and searched "emergency tooth…read moreextractions" online. Aspen Dental immediately popped up, stating they take emergency, same day appointments. The scheduler was very kind and, although the facility closest to me was booked, they found a sooner appointment at an alternative location. They really seemed to care about my predicament and I was very appreciative and relieved that the excruciating pain I was experiencing would soon come to an end. Little did I know. I arrived at the Crestwood location and the receptionist (who was also very nice) explained that everyone has to get X-rays done prior to any extractions ($29 special) and to fill out forms. The man who took the X-rays was very professional; being extra careful with the inflamed tooth. After it was over a dental hygienist went over my history and then broke the news that although the tooth should definitely come out, it would have to be done at a later date and after a "deep cleaning." It was at this moment that I realized that Aspen Dental and I have two very different interpretations of the what the word "emergency" means and my heart sank knowing I'd be spending more sleepless nights in agony. A dentist came in, going over the X-rays and all the things they wanted to do to my mouth. These involved words such as crown$, cap$, partial$, and implant$. She also said that in addition to my offending tooth, she needed to remove another one that wasn't even bothering me. I was then asked to wait while they worked out a plan. After 15 minutes I was brought to a desk where a woman showed me the list of all the procedures they wanted to do along with a price tag that was close to $25,000! "So how are you feeling about all this so far?" she asks. I thought she was kidding until I looked up and saw she had a straight face. "Terrible!" I replied. Keep in mind, I'm a 55 year old man who just wanted a painful tooth removed. I am not looking to get my smile plastered on the cover of next month's issue of AARP magazine. Unphased, she pulls out a second sheet of numbers for what it will cost to get the two teeth removed along with the mandatory cleaning - over $4,000. I didn't have insurance and figured it would be costly, but she may as well have pulled out parchment and quill, offering to stop my pain if I'd be willing to sign over my soul. She saw me flinch and mentioned they offer payment plans but I was already heading for door. I drove straight to Walgreens and bought enough pain medication to put half the town asleep for the winter, which is what I should've just done in the first place. Steer clear of these charlatans!

BEWARE OF THIS OFFICE!!!…read more This office is shady and negligent. This will be my first and last time doing business with this office. First Dr. Luckett is very impersonable and didn't say two words to me during my visit. He never addressed me directly and only spoke to the dental assistant. Secondly I felt very rushed out of this office, no one asked if I had any questions or concerns that needed to be addressed. I got dismissed from the office after receiving x-rays and being told I need my wisdom teeth removed. I had to stop a nurse myself to tell them I have questions and I need an explanation of my x-rays and what's going on with my teeth. PLEASE ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF IF YOU VISIT THIS OFFICE. Ask questions and make sure they explain things to you in a way that make sense. This dental office will greenlight procedures and decisions for you without properly informing you. I went to get my wisdom teeth removed from here and after shoddy x-rays and being told my teeth are fine the day of my wisdom teeth removal they had on the bill to remove an extra tooth that "needed a root canal" Literally a week ago this office told me all my teeth were fine and now suddenly the day of my surgery I need a root canal? I declined and went to get a second opinion. The second dentist office informed me that my teeth were in fact fine and no additional tooth extraction or root canal was needed. All in all, don't trust and double check everything they tell you. Because if I didn't I would be missing an extra tooth unnecessarily.

Choosing DentalWorks is the undisputed worst decision that I have made in a very long time!!! Dr…read more Luckett is 100% incompetent and I am disgusted by him and this entire experience. I went for an exam and was told that I needed a root canal. Fine! I get the root canal done and weeks after, I am having toothaches. I call the office multiple times and get no answer. I finally talk to someone and I ask them how is it possible that I'm having continued toothaches if the nerves were removed? I was told to come back in for another exam to figure out the problem. This joke of a dentist looks me right in my face and tells me that I just need to get both teeth removed. Both?? I said to him that I was told I only needed one. He said "No, I did 2 root canals." I know it to be a fact that I was told that I only needed ONE! I decide to get a second opinion because extracting my teeth seemed extreme. Thank God I did!! I have had 3 x-rays done at 3 different dental offices and THEY ALL CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION: BOTH OF MY ROOT CANALS WERE INCOMPLETE. That's what was causing my pain. Also, that my teeth DID NOT NEED TO BE EXTRACTED! They saw this IMMEDIATELY as they looked at the x-rays which mean DR. LUCKETT SAW IT TOO!!! Instead of admitting to and correcting his mistake, this jackhole suggested I take my teeth out and even had me schedule an appointment to have them extracted. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! Trying to cover up his mistake by removing my teeth and had I not got a second opinion, I'd be toothless right now. I talked to the office manager who confirmed by billing and office note that only one root canal was needed. So, guess what that means? In addition to them being incomplete, he performed a root canal on a tooth that didn't even need it!! ON TOP OF THAT, he broke a file in my gums. Now I have to have the root canal retreated and if the doctor is not able to remove the broken file, because it's very deep in my gums, I will have to undergo surgery. The doctor will have to cut my gums open to remove the piece of broken file. The other tooth, unfortunately, will have to be extracted at this point. All of this has transpired over the course of about 11 months and I didn't feel the need to publicize my experience until now. I have been back and forth with the office manager regarding this situation. She's lovely but my frustration lies with the fact that she can't do anything to resolve my issues. She's delivering messages between me and someone else through a RIDICULOUS chain of command. It's disgusting!!! I am a human being, not a dog!!! Why can I not speak directly with someone that is actually able to resolve my issue? Am I the scum of the earth that they cannot even take the time or effort to speak with me? I would like direct communication so that we can reach a resolution once and for all! I was offered a refund for my root canal. But, what about all of the work I need done? They said they'd pay for it but won't refund me for the root canal, which was $347!!! I should be refunded simply based off the fact that HE DIDN'T COMPLETE IT!!!! Is that not common sense or common courtesy? With these offers, they basically want me to sign away my right to make any further disputes regarding this mishap. WHY WOULD I DO THAT WHEN IT'S LEADING TO EXTENSIVE TREATMENT? After an extraction, I now have to worry about my teeth shifting, etc. ALL IN ALL, THIS IS A DEPLORABLE DENTAL PRACTICE!!!! How they've chosen to deal with me is even more disgusting instead of admitting to wrong doing and providing reparations. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!

Dr. Guthrie could have ruined my sons health with his botched oral procedure and NO ONE has had the decency to even respond to me after many emails and phone calls. An office that was told 3 times prior to her appointment that Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) was needed. It was not provided and they much later claimed they "never" provide Nitrous Oxide on first visit and she never requested it. The dentist and hygienist also tried to talk her out of her anxiety, which is about the dumbest part of this situation and shows the practice is more concerned staying on schedule than accommodating nervous patients. Her cleaning was rescheduled. My wife took a day off work. At 7:30 am the morning of the appointment, they canceled it. Apparently only one person is certified to use Nitrous Oxide. Sadly, I recommended this practice to my wife. I have left it as well, because they do not respect their patients needs. Another practice has managed to meet her needs.

Examined my xrays after the hygienist told me my teeth were nice, then told me he wanted to pull my teeth. I asked if my roots were good and he said yes. I asked if there was an alternative to pulling my teeth. His response was "well I'm the dentist" "I suggest you find another dentist and don't come back" I was shocked! I responded with what do you mean. He repeated the statement "I suggest you find another dentist and don't come back", then walked out of the room. I have NEVER been treated like that before by ANY professional. If my teeth are good then why pull them? I went in for a general exam and cleaning. I never got the cleaning. Because of a particularly traumatic dental experience ages ago, I took a dental-visit hiatus for, uh, a few years. Maybe more than a few years. And then, you know, five kids, etc. Wellllll, my littlest is now in school full day so I have no excuse to neglect my oral health a minute longer. SIGH. Fine. I'll go, I said to myself, but I'll hate it. I'll go, but it's going to be awful. Terrible. THE WORST THING EVER. Knowing my teeth were a bit...rough, I asked to go exam first instead of jumping into a full-blown cleaning. Enter Lea, the angel of teeth. Perhaps she's the real life Tooth Fairy? I don't know. But what I do know is this: this woman is magic. She was my starting point: she's the hygienist and took all my x-rays, did a preliminary exam, etc. You know how some people just WAFT goodness and kindness? Yeah, that's Lea. Knowing my intense anxiety, she explained everything every step of the way and checked in on my comfort throughout. She's a great conversationalist and it really helped me to stay calm and not obsessively focused on my mouth. I met Dr. Carly briefly at this point, but my first two appointments were with Lea (the first aforementioned and then a second one for another round of "deep cleaning"). Today's appointment was all Dr. Carly and she is *awesome*. I spent all last night tossing and turning and lamenting and even before we started...ugh, I was riddled with anxiety. But here's the thing: Dr. Carly is a gentle dentist with incredible precision and she's not at all shy with the novocaine. My appointment was this morning and I'm still pretty numb at almost five at night. Trust me...I am *not* complaining. I didn't feel a THING while she worked her magic. And now I am officially cavity free. She checked in on my comfort throughout, asked me if I needed breaks, etc. I felt like she was truly concerned with my comfort and sought to make this experience entirely positive. She succeeded. And then some. Additional-but-entirely-necessary-shout-outs: Olga was Dr. Carly's assistant today and she, too, is incredibly sweet--so friendly and personable. Helen, who runs the office, is both ridiculously patient (I'm a scheduling nightmare) and mind-blowingly organized. She was also able to unsnarl the dental insurance snafu and knew exactly what was covered before I was even finished with my x-rays at visit #1. Amazing. The entire office environment is SO positive and so perfect for the "high anxiety patient" (hi, that's clearly me). You immediately feel like you're surrounded by friends of yours. It's such a welcoming practice. Seriously so. If you've been on the fence about seeking dental care because you have moderate-to-severe dental anxiety, this is the place you NEED to call. While I'm sorry I put it off for so long, I'm so very, very grateful I found Oak Forest Family Dental. Dr. Carly, Lea, the whole team...just incredible. :)
