The dermatologist removed the basal cell and then I went to the SSM Aesthetic center so the plastic surgeon could close the site. I expected skilled care and a good outcome. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. The procedure left me with unnecessary scarring and complications. I sent photos of the botched site and returned to the surgeon's office in fall 2024 seeking advice. They recommended a scar revision with a different plastic surgeon. That appointment was scheduled for late February 2025. I went to the appointment. After waiting 45 minutes, I had to leave. I was told at the scheduling desk that this surgeon often double books. If I wanted to reschedule, the next available appointment would be in May. I typically don't leave reviews, but people deserve to know what kind of experience and outcome they might expect. I regret choosing this practice for such an important procedure, especially on my face. If you are considering Mohs surgery, I strongly recommend researching other doctors who have a proven track record of excellent results and compassionate patient care. You might want to avoid SSM Health's plastic surgeons.

I'm in my mid-20s and have some medical issues that require management by a hematologist; I'm also a graduate student and very invested in my own care. Previous primary care docs had treated me like an idiot and given me info that I strongly suspected was erroneous. I tried Beamsley on the advice of another grad student (who is also, like me, female), and I am so glad I did. During my first physical, I mentioned that friends of mine in Missouri had been required to discontinue Depo Provera (the birth control shot) because physicians there told them that no one should be on it for than five years. Beamsley, who is also an ob-gyn (I see someone else for that), told me he had never heard anything about such a limit, but he would check the literature. I sort of assumed that was the end of it, but two days later, HE CALLED ME AT HOME to tell me that he had looked into it and found nothing in the medical journals about such a limit. He has always taken the time to answer any questions I've had and he obviously respects my intelligence. He's a little socially awkward, but not obnoxious or insensitive. I rarely like doctors even when I have to deal with them, but I like Beamsley a lot, and I feel lucky to have found such a good PC.

My husband and I have been going to him for years and now we have a daughter who also sees him too! We are just very please with Dr. Beamsley. He is compassionate, friendly, he LISTENS and excellent bedside manners; meaning, when I was in the hospital after delivering my daughter, he would sit next to the bed to talk instead of standing. As for the earlier review about Dr. Beamsley issuing fake absences, I truly find that hard to believe. I hope that individual who made those accusations really look hard at themselves and realize he/she is really wrong about Dr. Beamsley.

She referred me to an allergist and that decision was unexpected, but also incredibly helpful. I also see Dr. Schwartz for OB/GYN, and she is the best gynecologist ever. I wouldn't say I like having gyno visits, generally, but she's the best in town.

There is little regard for continuity of mental health care. After seeing Gil Roth since 2021, when I called to schedule an appointment after a four month lapse, I was told I was no longer eligible to be a patient as I did not have a PCP in the clinic. I haven't had a PCP in the clinic since 2023. I never received notice in writing of this new "policy" (a nurse later coldly told me this isn't a "policy", but that "Gill Roth and Dr. Cordes are providers that were hired by Associated Physicians to see our patients"). There is nothing posted on their website, even now: https://www.apmadison.com/behavioral-health (It even says Gil is accepting new patients- ironic, since they are actively turning them away). So beware- because it isn't in writing as far as I can tell- if you aren't in their PCP club, even if you are a pre-existing patient with years of a relationship established- they have very little regard for the continuity of your mental health care.

She (we) had been seeing another Dr. for a while who had been treating her very poorly. I knew we had to leave this Dr. right away, but honest to God I didn't know where to go. It was then we found this wonderful Doctor, Julia McMurray; gentle, kind, comforting, reassuring AND an extremely skilled Physician; yes our Angel. A year or two passed and Dr. McMurray moved to another area for a while, BUT she would not leave until she picked the perfect replacement to care for my wife....and she hit a another home run. She gladly answered all of my questions and covered any other topics that she felt should be addresses when establishing care with a new patient. She didn't just want to know my medical history. She actually cared about my lifestyle and quality of life. She also isn't test-happy, which is pretty rare. Despite being in good health, most doctors send me to get lab tests every time I visit them, which I always think is an unnecessary waste of money, but probably common in the age of medical malpractice lawsuits. I have a ton of respect for Dr McMurray and am happy to have found a doctor that I enjoy seeing.

I've had everything done from physicals, lab work, physical/cognitive therapy, specialized treatment plans and about anything else you can imagine-- including surgeries contracted through UW Health Systems. Yes, there are preapprovals required for certain types of concerns, but I've never had an issue with paperwork going and has been done with little to no effort on my part. Disappointing Experience - Inflexible Policies & Rude Staff…read more I recently had a frustrating experience at Capital Clinic that has led me to take my business elsewhere. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday, March 8th, at 11:20 AM due to serious breathing issues--potential pneumonia or bronchitis--on top of moderate to severe asthma. Despite my medical condition, I was turned away for being just nine minutes late due to unexpected traffic, likely caused by a UW event. By the time the front desk staff located my appointment in the system, it was 11:31 AM, and I was informed--rather rudely--that I had "violated" their 10-minute late policy and would not be seen until 2:00 PM. No consideration was given to my urgent respiratory issues, the traffic conditions, or the fact that we drove 30 minutes to get there. Given the clinic's inflexible policies and unhelpful staff, I will be taking my healthcare needs elsewhere. UW urgent care facilities not only have more accommodating scheduling policies, but they are also covered by my insurance. If you're looking for compassionate, patient-focused care, I'd recommend avoiding Capital Clinic.
