I contacted this firm for assistance in transferring ownership of a Wisconsin property. I set this…read moreup for my elderly grandmother who wanted to get this matter taken care of. I was told the cost would be $850 plus the recording fees of $90. We paid them and they began to work on the documents. I did not sign any retainer or agreement regarding additional fees. At one point, the attorney, Larry Wiesneske, referenced that there may be additional fees. I immediately asked him what the fees were, what the hourly rates would be and indicated I was confused as it was my understanding from the initial email that this was a flat fee. The email went unanswered. My grandma began to get bills from the firm emailed to her house for an additional $600. I called the firm immediately upon receipt of the bill and had to leave a voicemail. I sent a detailed email outlining the issues with receiving a bill and was told "pay what you feel is fair." The work was done for the amount we had agreed upon. There was no written agreement. My grandma is 85 years old and the bills come each month and tack on a bit of interest each month which stress her out. It was inappropriate for this firm to quote a flat fee and then impose an additional cost. Steer clear.

I agree with the other poster (J.A.). We sought out Atty. Scrobell for advice. He claimed he was an…read moreelder law atty. No way. He apparently just "dabbles" in it a little. He is extremely conceited, judgmental, and rude. After talking to him on the phone for 15-20 minutes, I could tell that he knew very little about elder law, as I had spoken to other actual elder law attorneys previously. Some of the information Atty. Scrobell mentioned was totally inaccurate. He tried to act officious and pompous and said he didn't "know" if he wanted our case as he didn't need anything "complicated". Uh, what?? How's that again, Danny Boy? Just looking for the easy cases that a first-year law student could handle?? I plainly told him not to worry, as he didn't sound like he could handle a complicated elder law case. I told him that we were taking our case to someone else...who (incidentally) gave us an outstanding outcome while being caring, polite, and extraordinarily knowledgeable. It is clear that Atty. Scrobell is too elderly for elder law!
