I went back 1 week later and the officer told me fill up some papers. never give me a copy. wen back to pick a report and give me a clean slip to call back for the complaint report. calling several time and no body answer. finally got someone and she pass me the report number. Now, the slip has no dates, address or type of crime writing. I write de complaint number. And that's is all? . I request a copy of my complaint, she told me they don't give it!

This is how and why I found myself in front of my sisters apartment building, with my suitcase, the temperature dropping, and no idea what to do next. The call had come a few days prior and I found myself speaking to an officer of the 112th Precinct. Unable to even get into the building, and knowing it had been sealed by the police, I headed to the agreeable close station. There the desk Sargent on duty and civilian present (I assume a community service officer) were sympathetic and were able to help me understand what I needed to do to get a court order to enter to get clothing for my sister and go from there. It was a bit of relief to go from unsure to having a mission that I needed to accomplish. 3 days later I was back. This time it was to wait for an officer (or two) to escort me and supervise my time int he apartment) which would be under seal till the court declared me an administrator. They again were friendly, professional, and sympathetic. I would have to wait. Unsaid was that this was not a high priority. So I waited. It took many hours, but they were able to free up 2 officers to head over with me. Again the officers who escorted me were friendly and professional. It was appreciated in this trying time.

When the insurance asked for a police report he went to get a copy in person because the police officer didn't write one on the spot. That's okay, but when I saw the report it was stating that the phone was lost and not stolen. This is ridiculous! Police in New York want to give an impression that the city is perfect and falsify their report to make that happen blaming the victim. Also, the claim was denied because insurance doesn't cover lost phones. When asked why the report is showing lost and not stolen the officer on duty replied "if you haven't seen your phone stolen then it is lost." I guess next time we should ask the thief to announce before they steal our stuff.

I am in California and they were amazingly better than any of the police departments I have dealt with here in the SF bay. The officers and dispatcher were quite empathetic to our friend. I think our Bay Area police could learn some etiquette lessons from this station! A great way to find out the latest news on whats going on in the community (Middle…read morevillage/Maspeth/Glendale/Ridgewood) and get involved. Many times there will be DOT members, city council members, even congress members that represent the area will stop by the meetings to talk or answer questions and concerns of the community. A lot of the members are people who have been living in this area for generations! You hear some great stories and get to really know your neighbors. That's not something I'm really use to as a native New Yorker lol! I'm glad to have found out about this great civic association for a neighborhood that I didn't grow up in. They serve coffee at the meatings which is also nice. Many of the members political views may be leaning heavily to one side that I am not too much of a fan of but its a bit expected in a slightly wealthier community. I do enjoy a good debate hear and now, and believe me those meetings can get heated! lol They have lots of information up on there site, like when and where you can attend a meeting no need to call ahead. If you live in any of these neighborhoods, and even forest hills too; they have a private group on Facebook that you can join. Lots of debating going on there.
