My almost 16yr old goddaughter wanted to get her eyebrows done for the first time. And naturally, I had to have Saida do them. The new place is very nice. The receptionist was so nice and inviting. I'm glad Saida found this place. Saida only tweezes and used a brow shaper; no wax, no thread. Her eye for accuracy is unmatched and needless to say my goddaughter was very happy. I first discovered Lorraine Massey on NY1, a local NYC television news program. At the time, I was looking to help my 60+ year old mother solve the problem of losing her curls which had "suddenly" gone flat much to her displeasure. At the time, Lorraine was the co-owner of the Devachan salon which was located on West Broadway in SoHo. However, the interview I was watching on NY1, was about her 1st book, "Curly Girl: The Handbook." I was instantly enthralled with the idea of having my haircut by Lorraine Massey, but as I listened carefully to her interview, I decided to buy her book from Amazon immediately and read it first, which I did. The book is still available in its second edition on Amazon. I think I grew my hair out for 3-4 months prior to seeing Lorraine in person. I did that as I tend to wear my hair short and had just had it cut. I decided to follow her advice about caring for my curls from her book prior to seeing her. To make a long story shorter, I have been a customer of Lorraine Massey ever since, till COVID hit while I was living in another state. I am now delighted to be back in the fold, although I never really left. Just so you understand, I was not a pushover customer. I was very much mourning the loss of a beloved hair stylist and friend of mine of 15+ years when I first encountered Lorraine. I tried filling his hair stylist shoes by going to the top hair stylist in NYC, especially those known for being curly hair specialists. Between my Mom and me, we had tried 17 other hair stylists. I spent a stupid amount of money doing it too. I worked and I deserved it. Neither of us were happy till we met Lorraine, and there are reasons, multiple reasons. Lorraine Massey lives breathes and thinks about curly hair. It is a passion of hers that consumes her imagination. I do not know about you, but I adore passionate people being one myself. Passionate people give their all to their passions and personally that is one of the many things I admire about Lorraine Massey. She created her hair care products in order to achieve the results she was looking for from hair care products. Like many other curly girls, she found little help from the products on the market aimed at curly girls. I could easily continue this story but want to share that following Lorraine's advice my Mom's hair returned to being curly. I was able to give my Mom this gift because of Lorraine, and she never lost her curls again. I cannot recommend Lorraine or her salon, SpiralXYZ highly enough. Most salons leave me feeling weary of the experience of being stressed out by their atmosphere of kinetic insanity that envelopes them. There is no such environment in SpiralXYZ. It is literally like a sanctuary for both you and your curls, an oasis in a desert that will leave you feeling transformed both figuratively and spiritually. Welcome to curly hair heaven.

This was a first for me after nearly two decades in New York. But I showed up, as scheduled, on my appointed Saturday at around noon. Oddly, I was the only person in the salon other than the stylist, who did not seem aware of my appointment. The salon was not as light and airy as the website pictures would make it seem; it was a little worn, but nothing terrible. People had mentioned being provided with adult beverages in reviews, but I only saw a few dusty, opened bottles in a corner, and was not offered anything. But again, I had gone there to get a keratin hair treatment. The stylist did her thing in applying the treatment. I was a little suspicious that she was applying it with a spray bottle, as every other application that I've had or seem has been with a brush. I asked the question and the stylist seemed a little bit defensive. (I'm not a hair expert, but lots of people have first time jitters when working with a stylist for the first time). But the finished product was fine and I left a tip. I had a bit of a surprise when I returned home to find an email indicating that I had been a no-show for the appointment, reminding me of the cancellation policy, and offering me a chance to reschedule. I actually checked online to ensure that I had not mistakenly visited the wrong salon, as I was literally the only person there for 2 hours, before responding to advise of the error. Went for a hair cut for myself and it wasn't great but okay. The latina hairstylist to right was polite but appeared inexperienced. Whats more important is that my daughter was with me and wanted to get her hair wash and blow dried. That first time for wash and blow dry the hairstylist yo the left by window, also latina but lighter complexioned, washed and blow dried my daughters long hair. I was given a price of 40 and tipped the stylist 5 dollars. When we went again the following week the 2nd time the stylist rudely complained to the woman by register in my presence about having to do my daughters hair and not being paid sufficiently... I thought it was so unprofessional and rude but i understood that my daughter has waist long curly (loose non coarse) hair and know that's its a lot of work. So i figured if i tipped her more than 5 dollars she would be happy but i was wrong. The woman by register apologized to her and said it was her fault that she failed to give me wrong price the first time i went with daughter. I was initially charged 40 then on this occasion, 45. I didn't want to challenge it so i paid the 45. It should be noted that washing and blow drying daughters hair was under 1 hour.... I ended up tipping stylist 10dollars thinking she was going to be happy next time we came but i was wrong. The 3 and last time i went the same hair stylist gave us a dirty look and again complained to woman by register how its hard to do the hair and complained about the length. I was shocked because i didn't see her complain about anyone else in having to do their hair... And besides i tipped her 10 dollars the week before. I also saw woman with coarse thick hair come in to get a wash and set or blow dry and although they had short hair stylist and i didnt see her complain... Their demeanor was unprofessional and unacceptable. I had also observed another patron come in to get a ambre done on her hair only to walk out when done and return in less than 15 minutes to complain how it wasn't don't correctly in the back of her hair... It was a horrible experience and i would not recommend the salon to anyone. I am happy to say that my daughters long beautiful hair now gets dine at a local salon in the same neighborhood where we are welcomed, get great service and where the prices are not changed up in us and where the owner and stylist are professional. And guess what? We only pay 40 dollars-

There were already about four woman in the salon being cut processed and primped. I was seated for a wash right away. Which came to my surprise because the place already had clients. Jasenya washed my hair and I wash seated quickly and immediately was seen by Ziada (Zee). Very personable hands on the shoulders smile! "What are you here for today?" Gave her my certificate and I was on my way to process. Had delicious cookies. Was offered refreshments multiple times. I will say (and this isn't negative) that I found myself waiting a few times, BECAUSE she had no receptionist and that place was PACKED. So my minds like "this place is nothing like the reviews I've read. This place is busy!" I'm glad I went. Ziada works very hard and so do her employees. So! Long story short!
