Amazing does not even begin to describe NYC flower project. The value for quality is unreal. I am very picky and I had a very specific vision. I also wanted a lot for a reasonable budget. There were some floral companies that quoted me upwards of 7-10k without giving me the time of day to negotiate types of flowers, size of centerpieces, substituting candles for flowers, etc.. Not with NYC flower project. They were friendly, flexible, professional, responsive from beginning to end. NYC flower project focuses solely on events and They cater to a variety of styles and work closely with many different event planners so they know this business well. the team was always there to answer my questions and modify my contract as I changed my mind a few times. They worked with my budget and never tried to up-sell me but instead gave me practical, realistic options on how to keep the cost down. Gus was no nonsense and knows his flowers and has great taste. He did a mock up for me before we signed the contract to make sure they understood the style I wanted. Before my wedding, we walked through the flower district choosing flowers and colors I loved and I pointed out things I didn't like. They were again, honest about which flowers were out of my budget and which would give me bang for buck. They sent me final floral mockup photos and they tweaked as I asked. On my wedding day, they were right on time and completely flexible to our schedule and my venue's schedule. Our flowers were PERFECTION... They were easy to get in touch with throughout the process and were always there when I needed them. They even did a complimentary sample of my initial idea for the table arrangements before we signed anything - something I greatly appreciated given other vendors we looked at weren't as accommodating. Speaking of other vendors, NYC Flower Project's price quote was comparatively very reasonable for NYC and a city wedding. They were very transparent about the breakdown of costs from the start, and it put me at ease that I was dealing with straight shooters that wouldn't nickel and dime me with various add-ons and supplements. I felt I was able to be involved in the vision of the arrangements with expert guidance from Gus, who took me on a walkthrough of the flower district to hand pick the flowers I wanted in my arrangements. Gus and Nicole were very receptive to any changes in the weeks leading up to our big day. The end result was absolute perfection, and the industrial loft space was turned into a modern garden with plenty of candle light and votives complementing the florals. Gus and Nicole did a truly amazing job for our wedding this past Saturday. They were able to get us cherry blossoms for my centerpieces on the first day of summer. Everyone couldn't stop telling me how beautiful my centerpieces were. I love branches and didn't think it would be in season. I wanted a specific look for my bridesmaids bouquets. However, the flower market didn't have what I wanted available for the price. Gus knew exactly what I wanted. He created what I wanted from what was available. It came out perfect. At that time, I had no choice but to trust him. It was a good choice. Gus worked really hard looking for what I wanted for the bridesmaids bouquet and my bouquet. I would recommend NYC Flower Project. The pricing was very good and reasonable for all the work and effort they put into my wedding. I definitely did not want to DIY. Minus one star They did forget to put flowers on my cake though. They explained that the type of flowers that I wanted were not available or in season. However, no one informed me at all until I saw the cake when I sat down for the reception. I wish they had told me in advance because flowers make a huge difference on the cake. My fiance and I were excited to work with NYC Flower Project on our upcoming wedding, and we contacted them far in advance. Their designs are beautiful, and they have many good reviews, including here. However, I was surprised by the lack of customer service in my first consultation with Gus. Never once in the consultation did I get a question about vision, or budget, or types of flowers we preferred. Instead, it seemed like he wanted to fill out a standard tally of what we wanted (15 tabletop arrangements, 1 bouquet, etc.). I wondered how he could accurately estimate the cost, given he knew no real details of what we wanted. And wouldn't you know, a few days later, I got a statement of the work with many blanks and some blatantly wrong details. There wasn't even a total. I wrote back and replied that I couldn't in good faith sign paperwork as it stood. I asked if we might get on the phone again (basically giving them an opportunity for a do-over), and we spoke a second time. They were very patient to do this again, particularly as I had to fit it in during my work day. Yet this time, we didn't receive paperwork for 2 full weeks (I had to e-mail to even get it at that time - I bet they completely forgot about us). It looked like 2 more lines had been filled in (taking all of 2-3 minutes), and it still didn't have a total. My fiance and I were so bummed they couldn't feign interest in us, particularly since we aren't picky about things, pay on time, and love to enable artists to do their thing without our interference. We know we're good clients - we just wish they had stepped up to be better vendors. read more

I had a small wedding in Brooklyn, and I was so happy I found Gus to make the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets as well as the boutonnière. I didn't really know what I wanted and Gus was very patient in describing to me the options over the phone and sending me some photos. I told him my small budget and he worked to it without any hesitation or trying to sell me a package or upsell etc. After receiving quotes from other wedding florists and talking to other recently married people, I knew that I was getting a very good deal! The resulting bouquets were actually BETTER than I expected and I was more than happy with them. I know they were worth way more than I paid for them elsewhere! Gus and his amazing team of assistants, Nicole and Rose, helped make our wedding truly divine. We got married at Houston Hall, and we got NYC Flower Project's name from Houston Hall because they already loved their work and felt comfortable recommending them to us. NYCFP does both flowers as well as bistro lighting, and we knew we wanted lights strung up throughout the space. We had a meeting to share our mood board in their office in Brooklyn, then we met up with Gus a month out from the wedding in the flower market to select the actual flowers for the wedding. Gus also never tried to upsell us on anything, and in fact instead of an entryway flower arch, Gus recommended that we use that money towards floral chandeliers which were the HIT of our wedding! They also built us a *beautiful* marriage arch, as well as table arrangements, bar arrangements, and table arrangements for our rehearsal dinner! I highly recommend NYC Flower Project to any upcoming Bride& Groom out there who are still looking for a florist. Gus and Nicole did a wonderful job on all the flower arrangements for our wedding this past May. From the beautiful elaborate centerpieces and BM bouquets, right down to the flowers on my cake. You can definitely tell they put a lot time and effort into every piece that they make. A lot of my guests were telling me how beautiful and huge my center pieces looked (needless to say they were all taken by the time the wedding party was over). Gus and Nicole were very accommodating and helpful in giving us recommendations on certain things we were unsure of and the outcome came out really nice. I was telling Gus that my bridesmaid would be wearing a light pink color dress and he recommended using pink astilbe on my bridesmaid's bouquet and I am so happy he did, because it came out more beautiful than I could have imagined. I was a little upset about one thing though. I knew exactly what I wanted my boutique to look like and the exact color I wanted. (I wanted all light pink peonies with dusty millers). I even showed a few pics to Nicole and Gus, but unfortunately the peonies on my bouquet came out a lot lighter than I wanted. It came out to be more of a borderline peach/white color. But I know Gus and Nicole tried their best to find the color I wanted. Perhaps the pale pink peonies were not easy to find? But overall they both did a wonderful job on the flower and made everything so simple and easy with no headaches. read more

We couldn't have been happier with the flowers for our wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden! My friend who was supposed to be our florist dropped out in June for our August wedding, and thankfully our planner Alison Semler recommended NYC Flower Project to take the gig at the lat minute and it was the best decision. I walked in for our first meeting very nervous but was immediately at ease when I saw the exquisite mock arrangement Gus had made up, and we more or less went with exactly what he thought up for that day. Gus is the best!! He knows his stuff and what will look good, but is also laid back and flexible, and both he and Nicole are just a complete pleasure to work with. Gus understood our vague vision and came up with fantastic ideas -- like tree branch style flower holders for the tables and the chupah, and he just basically nailed the very loose "wildflower" guidance we gave him and delivered the most incredible arrangements. Where do I even start with how amazing Gus is?! I came to him 3 weeks before my wedding when my original plan failed to come together. He must have sensed my desperation because although he had 2 other events on my wedding day, Gus was happy to help this crazed bride. I had a general idea of what I wanted, and Gus really helped me flesh out my vision. He spent hours with us at his shop, showing us options, going through photos and hearing about the event spaces. We had a limited floral budget, and Gus helped me stretch it further by repurposing the ceremony flowers and centerpieces perfectly. He kept in contact the week of the wedding, sending pictures and texting back and forth when I saw things to incorporate last minute. He worked within that budget and never tried to upsell us. Actually, after seeing his work, we decided to spend a bit more and cut back on other decor, and good thing we did. The flowers were a highlight of our reception and my bouquet was absolutely stunning. Is it normal to have florist withdrawal? I'm beyond happy that my husband and I decided to work with NYC Flower Project (Gus and Nicole). In comparison to our experiences with 2 other florists, we found that: - Gus and Nicole really took the time to understand our likes and dislikes (joint Pinterest board) - They kept asking questions to figure out our style - Gus's aesthetic fit our style (CRUCIAL if you don't want to micromanage every design decision) - Gus advised us to look for inspiration everywhere when we were stumped on what we wanted for our ceremony backdrop. Other florists will push their ideas on you - usually something they've already done for another wedding. - They go the extra mile when they can. We saw succulents at their shop and casually mentioned that we gave up on the idea of a succulent wall for a backdrop. They let us know that they might have succulents from another project - not a whole wall but a few. On our wedding day (months after this discussion), we saw that they incorporated succulents into our backdrop. What a sweet surprise! - Gus takes into consideration how well the flowers will photograph. We wanted the centerpieces to be primarily deep red. He pointed out that too dark of a centerpiece wouldn't photograph well so we adjusted the ratio of dark to light flowers. We're sad we couldn't take all the centerpieces back to the hotel with us. NYC Flower Project did all of the flowers and décor for our August 6, 2016 wedding. From the moment we first met with them we knew they would be the perfect vendor. Gus and Nicole are truly artists who love what they do. They are involved in every aspect of the planning and partnered with our venue to create a truly stunning look for our wedding. We had the chance to meet with them, share our ideas and photos and they really listened and understood the look we were going for. I even had a request for my bouquet to be a little unique as I didn't like chunky stems and they more than accommodated me! We wanted an "English Garden" look and they more than delivered. They worked with us on selecting the appropriate vases that would work with the venue and our overall theme. The sample they did for us was stunning - and they were upfront about the timing of the sample and what may be available on our wedding day as you have to take seasonality into effect. The day of our wedding it was humid and on an off rain, so we ended up doing the ceremony indoors rather than outside. Gus and Nicole not only created the most gorgeous, breathtaking altar for us but stayed through the ceremony to help turn the room back over for the reception later. Gus even found us during cocktail hour and offered to decorate the wedding cake with flowers! They took the time to put the bouquets back in water after an early picture session and the care they showed throughout the evening was truly what set them apart as a vendor.
