I am a cancer survivor of 15 years & have been purchasing supplements through my naturopath here. I've spent thousands of dollars & Lori has been very friendly & helpful. Tonight I closed out my account due to an extremely RUDE lady that answered the phone & said they close in 8 minutes & hung up on me !!! I HAD a card on file & needed to pick up 1 thing. When I entered I asked her why she would treat me like that. No apologies whatsoever ! In fact she called the pharmacist out & he told me that this wasn't the first time I've harassed her. I have never seen her before & that is a complete LIE ! I will NEVER EVER return to buy anything from this place. One thing, I will miss Lori. And she knows my demeanor. She's real ! I would find another pharmacy. The staff is rude. Especially one person who routinely answers the phone. I've tried to deal with this pharmacy for over a year and each time it's been an ordeal. I won't bore with long winded details of my experience but I have not had one experience that left me not frustrated and close to tears. read more

I have for four years tried to support this small local business, but attitude of the customer is always WRONG is just too much to take. They took my information down in order to call me when a supplement came in that I was looking for. Later when I called back to get an update I was told that they had tried to call me every day for a week and that I didn't have voice mail so they couldn't leave me a message so they put my order back on the shelf. I never had received a call from them and I do have voice mail! when I explained this to them they said that I must've given them the wrong phone number. I've had the same phone number, which is on file with them, for 30 years so I don't think the fact that they wrote my number down wrong is my fault, but they were adamant that it was. when I sent a note to the manager I received no response, obviously they are not concerned with providing good customer service. I can buy the same products online and they cost less and are delivered direct to my door so that's what I will be doing now. read more

I came to buy fillable vegetarian capsules which they broke up into ziplock bags in quantities of 25 for $3.75. This should not be permitted. At this rip off price I went to the nearby co-op and found a whole box of 200 for $9.99. I immediately returned to NW Remedies to return the unused capsules and the girl did not know how to do a return and asked me to come back the next day. I do not live in town but the next time I came in less than two weeks later, they would not accept the return because they "could not tell if the Ziploc bag had been opened or not." So not only do they ASTRONOMICALLY overcharge for simple items, they basically call their customers LIARS. I will never recommend this place or shop here again. I see from other comments here that Southgate Drug in Tumwater is also a local, compounding pharmacy. read more

I love this place! I can't really tell you how much but I will try. I have celiac disease, which means even the tiniest amounts of gluten make me super sick. I also have a lot of other sensitivities, including to corn which is often used in medications. To make sure that I am totally safe, I need to have my medications compounded - it is a gluten free facility, and they ask what you want as the filler. You can get it in creams, capsules, tablets, etc. The last time I went to a regular pharmacy I was sick for a week! I never have any negative reactions to the medications compounded here. And they are FAST, if I need them to be. Yesterday I called to say I had forgotten to order a refill (my lyme disease makes it difficult to remember things) and could they have it ready for me by today. It was actually ready YESTERDAY. Awesome! Besides the compounding pharmacy they have a lot of really great supplements that you can't get at other places like big supplement/ vitamin stores. They carry lines like Thorne Research Group and Integrative Therapeutics. All of the supplements here are of the really high quality and will be more effective than other, cheaper brands. They also carry Manuka honey cough drops, which are celiac friendly. When they first opened the staff wasn't always friendly, but now they are reliably friendly and really really great. I am so thankful for them and the role they have played in helping improve my health. read more

Thank goodness for the staff at NW Remedies! We have one slim chance at a Hail Mary to save our cat with a special medication that has to be compounded and NW Remedies is closed on the weekend. Our vet requested the special formula after lunch on Friday so I threw myself on their mercy and they're coming through for us before they close today!!! It can be difficult for some to know what a pet means to people, but this has been a year marked with loss of pets for our family and our little guy wears his heart on his sleeve and is so full of love, we just want to give him a chance. Two things went wrong when I tried to have my prescriptions filled here for the first time. As a result I'm having my prescriptions transferred to Southgate Drug in Tumwater (they also do compounding). I used to use NW Remedies back when it was Randy's Compounding Pharmacy and it was very good. While the pharmacists seem very nice, the prescription was filled incorrectly even though my doctor took extra care to explain to them how it was to be filled. And their cashier/check out person was extremely rude to me twice. The first time she wouldn't respond when I told her the prescription had been filled incorrectly. She just stood there and looked at me. Finally another cashier got help from the pharmacist so I could explain. Then I returned twenty minutes later to pick up my prescription and the rude cashier was rude again. She acted like she'd never seen me before and was very cold and unfriendly. I had just been in there twenty minutes earlier. Life is too short to deal with this so I'm going somewhere else. read more

I have been going to Walgreens for quite some time for supplements. I had heard that many supplement companies don't third party test their products for potency/impurities. I went in to NW Remedies to see what their selection looks like, I was pleasantly surprised. They had a large variety of high quality supplements that were hard to find at other stores. They are more expensive than I've found at other places, but the pharmacist Ryan explained that most of their supplements are third party tested. It was also really nice to have people there to guide me in regards to supplement choice. Everyone was really nice and inviting. The store is really great too, lots of natural light. It had a good vibe. Apparently they compound medications there too. read more

The situation /difficulty with NW Remedies: We could NOT afford NW Remedies price for Prednisone melts ordered by Vet; Regulators told Veterinarians they could no longer provide meds from their office, so Vet referred us to NW Remedies, directly. Companion Cat has asthma; reacts very badly to pilling, but the melts WORK, & easy to dose; cat begs for it appropriately as needed, for almost a year. We wanted to get more. But couldn't: These were very low cost ($17.+ for 20 melts), for ready-made version direct from Vet, BEFORE this happened. NW Remedies had dramatically higher price: I was quoted: $40.+/#20 melts; $55.+/#30; $68.+/#60 melts, because they did Not have the ready-made, so only could compound it, which is more costly. If you don't know what remedy to get for an OTC medicine or remedy, NW Remedy staff aren't allowed to help inform you (bad FDA rules). And, as so often happens to many meds, FDA has further hobbled efforts to get these, by forbidding Vets from providing them to their pet patients. NW Remedies has higher-end for pricing. But Reliably compounded meds can be hard to get; AND they offer very good help getting hypoallergenic versions of meds, by offering a wider choice of fillers. Staff is friendly. Nice, quiet, peaceful shop. Good array of alternatives, too. But we had to find a different solution to get the medicine needed [online]. That loses business for this nice little pharmacy, and makes getting needed meds harder for some disabled persons who best handle going to this kind of small, quiet, safe-feeling store to get needed supplies. Why this is happening, from what's learned so far: This problem is not entirely This pharmacy's fault. It is Yet Again [feeling furious!], Big Pharma industries bilking consumers, by profiteering on old drugs, & by manipulating availability of meds. Pharmacies & consumers are at their mercy. Depending on who we called, we got varying stories on why the ready-mades weren't available. Pharma evidently stopped making this successful med??...well, not necessarily so. This is starting to look like what happened with insulin (& so many other meds) price & availability debacles. No insurance we can afford, covers pet medicines; it's all out-of-pocket (low income folks need not apply). Big industry collusion, corruption, & profiteering at it's most confusing and distressing. Pharma co.'s, FDA, etc., insurers profiteer, in that order. This is only a small part of a huge issue that has gotten exponentially worse, the past 30+ years. Big Pharma shows no remorse, no sign of correcting their practices/business models. FDA is controlled by industry insiders sitting in regulatory seats. This looks extremely bad for Pharma, FDA, and pharmacies...people & pets die faster, because of industrial unethical business practices, egregious profiteering, by manipulations of med availability & prices. That will first cut off those industries' customer base, & helps depopulate the planet in very cruel ways. Maybe then, those mega industries will implode upon themselves. read more

Let me start by saying I love the attitude of the staff here. I called everywhere today to try to find medicine for my pet's emergency and they were so helpful and pleasant. The lobby had socially distanced seating for waiting and paperwork completion and I was able to run to the emergency vet and pick up my little buddy while they worked on the script. So much thanks to NW Remedies. I pill one of my cats each day, but when my other cat needed long term prednisolone for IBD, she refused to be pilled. i tried hiding the pill in freshly cooked high quality meats, within a week the jig was up. Considering the food issues she was already having, I didn't want to turn her off to anything else. Finally I tried having the medication compounded at NW Remedies. We choose the Ocean Fish Flavor and she loves it. She literally wakes me up each morning ready for her treat. Getting her diagnosis was a bummer, trying to force feed her medicine felt traumatic. Mostly satisfied with what was formerly known as Randy's compounding pharmacy apparently not filling a prescription for 2 years puts you on a list in which you must prepay before a prescription can be filled. Super annoyed and disappointed. Business must be good if no exceptions can be made. I'll fill across town now where I can pay with my credit card when I pick up the prescription. read more
