i have been going to Megan for years and have never had nothing but the best outcome. i have hair down to my waist that has body but not much for thickness. most stylists have a hard time working with it but megan is extremely knowledgeable and keeps with current fashion. she also colors my hair. i usually go with adding non natural colors in streaks but want to be able to hide them if i need to be in a more formal setting. she is wonderful and takes the time to really great job. i get lots of highlights and when my time there is all said and done she has spent up to 3 hours coloring, cutting, drying, and styling. ive never had someone be willing to spend that much time on my long hair. and to top it off its done at an extremely reasonable rate. i recently took my mother to see her as well. she has shoulder blade length hair that is bone straight and rather thin. she hasnt gone to a salon in years because she was told so many times the only option was to cut it extremely short, something my mother does not want. after years of trying i convinced her to go for mothers day. she was so nervous she was pale when we went in. she was immediately given a drink and sat down with to go over some pictures and spend a few minutes talking about what she was looking for. there wasnt a lot of input from my mom other than her need to keep her hair. megans first response to my moms concerns was there was no reason to worry because she would not cut it all off. about 20 mins later after adding some layers and teaching her how to style it correctly, my mom walked out with body, a great new style that works casual or formal, and a smile. read more

NVU Salon knows exactly what I want! They are great people there, all of them. The place is beautiful and very clean. Whenever I go in for a haircut they get it perfect every time and they always make sure I will be happy with whatever I ask for before they do anything! After they are done, they ask me how I like it (I always do) and if there is anything wrong (There never is), they know exactly how to fix it! The location is great because I live so close to them and their service is beyond excellent! They are all so kind and funny as well. Oh and their prices are amazing too! I don't care what anybody says, these ladies are professionals and do an excellent job with every bodies hair! I have been going to Megan Nelson since I moved to Maine, over 14 years. My hair is "my thing" since I've been prematurely white since the age of 14. I was super nervous trusting another professional, as I had a stylist I loved in my former hometown. Megan has not only been my stylist, but has seen me through so much of my life, and I have had the pleasure of watching her grow as a stylist! She KNOWS my hair, what looks good, and what doesn't. I know what to expect when I walk in. She does a fabulous job. Every.single.time. Tammy, Johanna, and Kyla have all styled my kids hair as well, and honestly; we wouldn't go anywhere else. I needed a place to get my 7 year old daughter's bob haircut. I wanted a good cut because she has thick hair on the wavy side, so a good cut would really help it look good without too much fuss. We were lucky enough to get an appointment with the owner, Tammy. She was really awesome, my daughter got a great cut that falls in all the right places. I know it is a good cut, cause we have gotten a bad cut of the same style and it is not a good thing! NVU is great! I had a hair disaster a few years ago and had to switch hairdressers and picked Johanna on a whim. I've gone back to her continuously and am always pleased with my haircuts.
