First, let me preface this review with this... NVR Mortgage DID NOT originate my mortgage. With that being said however, NVR was extremely instrumental in making sure that my mortgage for my new Ryan Home was approved.
For the purpose of this review, I will not go into too much detail, but during my mortgage process we ran into several hurdles that in my mind, being a first time home buyer, seemed almost impossible to overcome. Being employed in the civil construction industry, I am laid off like clockwork every year for three months in the winter. This is S.O.P. for the paving industry in Western Pennsylvania. And while I am entitled to Unemployment Compensation, further compensation from a Supplemental account that a portion of my paycheck during the construction season, is deposited into, the income that I received from these sources (which equal my regular weekly pay during the construction season) were unable to be counted towards my yearly income due to NVR's internal conservative lending rules.
The loan officer that I worked with, Bethany Parisi, and the loan processor Lisa Bartos were nothing short of phenomenal to work with!!! Not only were they in constant contact with me throughout the mortgage process, but they were consistently reassuring me that my income situation, while not ideal to NVR, fit perfectly with one of the mortgage brokers that they work with.
Bethany, took the extra time on a Saturday evening to forward all of my information to the broker (George Mason Mortgage), and assured me that we would have a final approval within a few days. She also reassured me that the closing would take place before rate lock expired, and that even going through the broker, I wouldn't loose any of the incentives that I had signed off on for my new home. Every promise that Bethany made, she kept! Beyond that, the broker, taking a second look at my credit rating was able to get me a lower interest rate (3.25%), and lower monthly payment without the need for me to bring more to the closing table! Without Bethany going the extra mile, that wouldn't have happened!
Lisa, my loan processor... equally as hard working. I had heard so many horror stories about the mortgage process post 2008 financial collapse. Stories of loan processors losing paperwork, constantly asking for the same items over and over again, never returning calls, etc. Lisa, while a very busy individual, was on top of my paperwork the entire time! Beyond that, when Bethany wasn't available due to meetings, or working with the many other clients that she has, Lisa would always take the time to speak with me, answer any questions that I had, and reassure me that the process was moving along and things were being worked out.
There are many people who get up and go to work every day in thankless jobs. Jobs that most people take for granted or don't realize the amount of work that is put in during the work week. I truly feel those who work in the mortgage industry are some of those people. Granted there are bad apples in every industry, and some of the horror stories you read online are quite true. Especially regarding the mortgage industry. But the team at NVR mortgage and NVR settlement services, in my experience at least, do not deserve to be lumped in with those horror stories.
I would, without hesitation recommend purchasing a Ryan home and using NVR mortgage to anyone looking to purchase a new home!
So, while in the end, NVR didn't actually approve me, Bethany, Lisa, and everyone else at Pittsburgh office made the stressful and overwhelming process of purchasing a home, completely painless, very easy, and still went the extra mile to make sure that I was approved for my mortgage! read more
