The Nutty Bar Stand is an Arnolds Park must-have. Serving up cold treats since the 40s this ice cream parlor has something for everyone! We popped in on a Sunday afternoon and my kiddos each wanted some ice cream. While they didn't go with this gem's namesake (ahem, the nutty bar), they did enjoy a very generously scooped cookies and cream ice cream and a rainbow sherbert. Both were delish. The shop is clean, it has a great patio, too. The staff was super kind and patient with my noncommittal nine year old. Pricing was on point. This shop is open daily. It also features Blue Bunny ice cream, which is made just down the way in LeMars, IA. Next time I'm around, I'll be getting a frozen banana! read more

We visited twice!!! The seasonal bar was butterfinger & we couldn't get enough of it. The ice cream was so incredibly delicious - and we were a bit timid to stand in line at first, thinking it would take a while to get through but no!! The ice cream was delicious as people in our group tried most options. The service is very quick and friendly. There is always quite a few people when we go but we get through quickly. This looks like something you would have went to in the 50's or 60's with a retro theme and design. Very enjoyable. We go here frequently. I started when my grandpa used to take us as kids now I'm continuing that as a tradition with my children. And if I'm visiting the Iowa Great Lakes like I do every year, I'm here. This is one of my happy places. Gayle and I were here last week. We had Lunch "upstairs" at The Gardens (Central Emporium) and enjoyed our modest walk through the new promenade and towards our tasty treat. I should have ordered the butter brickle, but I'm stuck in my classic ice cream bar ways. We found some shade on a nearby bench on this very hot summer day. Otherwise, maybe we would have wandered over to the Berkley Bedell State Pier, or sat down at the tables just outside the Nutty Bar parlor. A must-go destination if you're vacationing in Okoboji! This is probably one of the most referenced places by people who come here to check out and for good reason! Their nutty bar is (obviously) their staple. It's a homemade block of vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate and peanuts. You get a large ice cream for $3! We also tried their root beer float which was great with their home brewed root beer, but I personally feel that the nutty bar is too good to pass up. Wish I took pictures but it was too good that I ate it too quickly! Be prepared for a line and note that they mostly have patio/outdoor seating. Will be coming back as much as I can while in town! read more

The Nutty Bar stand was an institution of my childhood. Somehow at an early age, I decided ice cream wasn't my thing (I've since come to my senses) and would instead opt for a frozen banana every time we visited. WITHOUT nuts, please. Go figure, that's still what I order today and they are just as good. I'm well aware that the Nutty Bar stand also has root beer floats, ice cream cones, and other myriad offerings, but I don't care. After visiting the amusement park, we needed a treat and hit the Nutty Bar based on reviews. Only one person in our group ordered the nutty bar, said it was very hard. Everyone else order a scoop of ice cream, which was a big scoop. I wish the menu would have had the kiddie scoop listed, not so much for a smaller price but for a smaller scoop. After we had received our order, another family came in and ordered a kiddie scoop.
