I'm now left feeling like a rubbish dog mum, for not doing proper research before handing him over. I'd been happy with what I saw on the website, but obviously that wasn't enough. Here I go... whilst my husband was dropping our dog off, I noticed that I hadn't given him the vaccination booklet!! Worrying that he'd be sent straight back home I quickly called to see if I could send a photo of the book. I was surprised to be told by the kennels that my husband had successfully handed over our dog and was on his way back home. He hadn't been questioned about the vaccinations at all. The person I spoke to wasn't concerned & took the details over the phone, but seemed to do so to humour me. Again, more fool me because I really should have pushed this more at the time. My husband told me that he wasn't able to see where our dog would be staying & was just told 'that's it', with no details or questions about our dog asked. On the day of collection I took my young son & was met by a very abrupt and unwelcoming gent, who had no idea who my dog was. He disappeared behind a gate & told us we weren't allowed to follow him. He eventually returned with my rather timid looking dog. This is completely out of character for him!!! He was also wearing just his lead (no collar or harness), fastened as a choker around his neck with the handle. This is pretty concerning given that he's a pug & should only have a lead attached to a harness. So then it's time to settle up and trying to be considerate, I had taken the exact change... £28 - that's 4 days at £7 per day, as per the pricing details on the website. I've attached a photo for proof. I'm then told that it's actually £8.50 per day & that, 'it has ALWAYS been that much'. I mentioned that I got the price from the website & the owner said, 'well that has nothing to do with us, Yell run the website.' I advised the owner that I only had the exact change on me, in response she rudely snapped, 'ok, I will accept it, but don't you ever bring your dog back here again!!' I was pretty shocked & again mentioned the pricing on the website & told her to bring it up on her computer so that she could see what I had seen. I didn't want her to feel like I was swindling her. She then said, 'well Yell knew our prices had gone up! It's not even supposed to be on there.' That's not what she'd said moments before! So as I was leaving I advised her to get someone to take a look at the site and remove the incorrect details so it couldn't happen again... her response, yet again, 'Ok, but you're never bringing your dog back here!!' Charming!! I wouldn't have anyway, but it feels pretty rubbish to have been banned from a local kennels because they couldn't be bothered to keep on top of their website.
