Went in here earlier today. I've been a customer on and off for a couple of years now. This place caries really good top of the line supplements. The people who work here are great too. They have great knowledge of supplements, fitness, and nutrition and are pretty honest too. There's been times before where I've showed up ready to load up on supplements and vitamins, and after listening to my goals, I've been told to just buy a lean protein and a pre-workout mix. I have found my new favorite place to get my supplements! My partner and I went in there over the weekend to get all sorts of different things and came out as winners. Since it was the weekend of Thanksgiving there were deals running the whole time. Although the deals were great, the prices before the discounts are more reasonable than a lot of the other nutrition shops in the area. I must say that the customer service here is amazing. My boyfriend and I spent at least and hour here choosing products out and the whole time we had Julian helping us out. He knew about all of the products and was able to help us choose things that would be beneficial for our lifestyle. We walked out with protein, weight loss pills, pre workout, creatine, amino acids, and a few more supplements. I've had allergic reactions to different supplements in the past and Julian looked up the products that happened with and made sure with everything we bought didn't have similar ingredients. I thought that was really great and no other place that I've been to has done that for me. Overall this shop is great! Everything is very clean inside, plenty of parking outside, incredible service, and there are a lot of products to choose from. I still remember when this place first opened a couple of years back. I'm actually surprised that til this day, they still remember me. Although I don't live in San Diego anymore, I still manage a visit at least once a month or whenever I am in the need of some supplements. Sometimes I stop by for RTD proteins, which are about a $1.50 cheaper. Regarding stock and prices, has to be the best in town. You might be able to find cheaper prices online, but it all balances out due to shipping cost. Bottom line, a ton cheaper than Vitamin World, Vitamin Shoppe, and GNC. The staff is great and knowledgeable, but it also helps if you know what you're looking for. If you're not sure, just let them know what you're working on. Let them know if you're trying to lose weight, gain muscle, both, etc. Main reason I ever go here is for their wholesale prices. I've been working out for almost a year now and people at the gym kept telling me that I need to take some type of supplements or protein shakes to help my muscles recover and blah....blah....blah. I don't believe in taking enhancements such as steroids or HGH for body growth. I guess I was close minded about any type of shakes, pills or juices. I always thought any of those things were a form of cheating to help your body get bigger or loose weight. But, I soon found out and was educated that your body does need proteins, whey and all that good stuff to help your muscles relax and rest and so on. I finally gave in into trying something that will help my muscles heal up, only, and nothing else. One of the staff members convinced me that Myogenix After Shock will do just fine for post workouts. I got the piña colada flavor and it taste great! I do see a difference where I feel my muscles are heeling up faster and I don't get as sore as I would before. I also feel I have more energy afterward every workout. Both employees were extremely helpful and polite. I was aware that they knew exactly what they were talking about and not bullshitting anybody. I had a Nutrition Zone referral card so I had $5 taken of my purchase. That was great! And, one of the guys hooked it up with a free black Nutrition Zone shirt. Do your research before buying any suppliments...just don't always trust the guy behind the counter. Figure out your goals go to the store then go online and check the reviews on what your gonna buy. Go on bodybuilding.com and check user reviews on the supplements. Many times I've come in wanting to buy a reputable product and they'll try to sway you way to one of their house products or something pretty much unheard of in the bodybuilding world. Remember they call em supplements because that's what they are to supplement a healthy diet, there are no legal short cuts, just hard work and determination. Ever since I started working out again, this has been the only place I go to for advice and supplements. I don't like to take any supplements and keep it natural, but after awhile I needed something to help me recover faster and help me get over my plateau. I was recommended here by a friend of mine at the gym so I decided to check it out. The guys there were very knowledgeable and didn't persuade me to get anything else that I wouldn't need. I ended up getting their signature protein Lean Pro Matrix. It has 34 grams of lean protein, and is perfect for meal replacement, post workout, and recovery. The guy there (I didn't get his name) was very helpful. He asked me what my routine was and how my diet is shaped out and gave me a few suggestions and the best time to take any of the supplements. He even suggested that I only take my protein post workout and the moment I wake up instead of what is says on the directions, He told me it was unneccessary to take more than I need to and it would save me money, so you know that they're not about making money and more on helping people accomplish their goals. Prices are really good - you can find better ones online, but that's about it. My biggest gripe is that there's this one guy who really upsells stuff. He convinced me to buy some preworkout stuff for ~$40, swore it'd work better than the stuff I'd been using, etc. etc., and it made me sick. Sold me expired products that had mold! Long story short, I purchased a box of breakfast bars about two weeks ago. A few nights ago while eating one of the bars I wondered why the first bite tasted sour. Sure enough, I inspected the bar and they had mold on them. I checked out the other bars and it was the same story, all of them had mold. I called Nutrition zone the following day inquired how I can get a refund and the person pretty much said no refunds. The bars were still sealed and you can clearly see the mold through the clear plastic. His excuse was "well I can call the owner of the bars and we will see what we can do." I mean really that's the best you can do? No apology or anything. I ended up throwing the bars away and just called it as a lost. I was recommended by a fellow gym member several weeks ago to check out nutrition zone. I do not know or understand why this place was recommended in the first place. I felt very unwelcome. I have visited there 2 weeks ago and the employees were rude, non-attentive, very unhelpful and most definitely disrespectful and very unknowledgeable. His name is Andrew, very disrespectful and out of line. I asked him for advice about a fat burner and he was outright offensive and vulgar. He asked my weight, he flat out said, "It looks like you need 25lbs off" and at the same time he was talking to another customer about selling steroids and injections and trying to sell his own product. This unworthy of an employee was ridiculous and mentioned he was on steroids and was recommending customers to go to other stores like nutrishop and elite pro. I thought that lacked a lot of loyalty for any business owner. If I were nutrition zone's owner, I would let him go right away before a multi-million dollar suit is pressed against Nutrition Zone. Andrew and his steroid use was blatant and obvious and for the record, I am 5'8" and 118lbs and I model on my free time. First yelp review: a gentleman by the name of julien really took care of me today. I went in looking for a quick boost while on my way to the gym, I was hoping for a can of spike or something. He was quick to offer me a free sample. He asked if I had a shaker handy, which I did. Unfortunately like many shakers in my life, this one sat in my car for a month after use. I brought it in and insisted on washing it, he too insisted on washing it. He did a very noble deed and washed a complete strangers shaker. The staff is pretty friendly. Although I had reserved a product and was told that I will be called when they received it but they failed to call me. The biggest issue is that the prices of products at this particular store are higher than what other Nutrition Zone stores and NutritionZoneOnline are advertising. When I brought this to their attention, the staff member called the owner, the owner explained that there isn't enough competition in the area so they are able to sell their products for a higher price than other Nutrition Zone stores. I used to live in vista, so i used to hit up the nutrition zone in vista. much better service here. very friendly staff. good selection of products and staff didn't really try to push one particular product. i like to shop around and they have much better pricing than the other supplement store in chula vista. i'd recommend this store, i'll def come back. read more
