I'm so blessed to have found out about this small on the outside but mighty on the inside Catholic store. They have a big variety of different saints that I couldn't find anywhere else. This family owned business is very welcoming and kind. Gavin, the son of this ma and pap shop, is the sweetest, most caring person. Thank you, God, for bringing me here. Right as I walked in, he was all smiles and helped me with everything I was looking for and more. I've recently realized i wasn't being a good daughter to my father. The only one who matters. Gavin has compassion and amazing advice. At one point, he reminded me about my parking meter. I thought I was good but didn't realize how much time passed. I went out there to check, and sure enough, Gavin was right, or should i say God was. As I was putting more coins in the meter, the maid went by. God is good. I was so close to a ticket but praise the Lord for using Gavin to speak to me and not just about the parking meter but about so much more. God's timing is always right. Whatever part of your journey you are on in your faith, check out this loving Catholic store for all your wants, needs, and more. Thanks be to God.

Today, I made my way out to my favorite store, Nature's Storehouse / Catholic Storehouse in downtown Chula Vista. It's owned by my beloved friend, Gavin George and his family. Many people do not realize there is a catholic goods store in our area. There is so much to take in; from the friendly service, the abundance of Catholic goods as well as natural vitamins and essential oils. Not only is it an emporium of blessed things to purchase, but there is also a chapel built within (and an incredible backstory as to how it came to be there). With a gorgeous elemental statue of our lady of Fatima as it's focal point, the grotto-like chapel emits a heavenly ambiance. So much so, that I tear up in absolute adoration and veneration, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. If you have the opportunity to check it out, please do. They are currently open Monday-Saturday from 9am-3pm. And At 2pm on Fridays they say the rosary and the stations of the cross. (Masks and distancing required). Please support this amazing business & their mission! And check out their backstory online!

Sometimes the chapel in the back of the store is a great way to spend time to reflect after a long day.

Situated nearby Little Italy's lovely Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Rosary, this is a great addition to the eclectic shopping scene of this colorfully ethnic part of town. Of course, there are the religious candles (Velas) but there is beautiful jewelry, artsy crucifixes, prayer rosaries and holy & angel waters. There are statutes of all the holy personages. Additionally, a service offered here is a reading where spirits can be contacted in the other world. A lot of this business is done in the Spanish language, including the website but I could navigate most of it just fine, using my rudimentary Espanol skills. I am fascinated by places such as this and I really like that the items for sale are not the usual ones found in so-called religious retail stores. La Casa de Angel Omar has an exotic and South of the Border vibe to it that is so refreshing.I love how they use a lot of fresh flowers amidst their displays. However, as anyone who goes to Little Italy knows, parking is a byatch and here, it is a curse. 1 YELP STAR deducted for the frustration of trying to find a spot for your wheels, while you seek to browse the aisles of La Casa de Angel Omar for the latest in religious items.

Hidden Gem for Book Lovers - A True San Diego Treasure…read more Footnote Books in University Heights might not catch your eye from the street, but step inside and you're entering a book lover's paradise. It's a small, tightly packed shop, stacked floor to ceiling with everything from quirky romance to vintage collectibles--and that's exactly the charm. AND what increiible value here! Nothing was overpriced even when you know you found a real gem. Don't let the curb appeal fool you--this place is the real deal. My wife scored a stack of fantasy romance novels (SJM, Ana Reyes, etc), and I stumbled upon a first issue of Sports Illustrated and a beautiful 1950s first-edition history of some of baseball's most iconic early legends. Talk about treasure hunting. The owner? An absolute gem. Super knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly someone who lives and breathes books. You can feel the passion in every corner of this store--Footnote is truly a labor of love. If you're in San Diego and love books with character (and characters), do yourself a favor and visit Footnote Books. 10/10 I highly recommend.
