Small shop in downtown that's been here for ages. Place is packed wall to wall. I have only been here a few times to get some a specific berry coffee lip balm I was into for a while, some drink supplements, as well as tablet supplements and some health snacks on the past. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are as expected and pricey. read more

I went to Nutri-Foods today specifically to buy Natural Living by Design's Natural Crystal Deodorant Mist Spray. No one ever asked to help me. I found the product myself. When I went to check out an older man on the cash register never looked up at me, rang the item up and barely told me how much it cost. I paid him and he gave me my change all while never looking up and never said "thank you" have a nice day or anything. He actually looked away. Nutri-Foods is a small local business that's been around since the 1950's. They have always been a valuable source of healthy food and supplements for the community. I frequent this store a couple times a month and it's always good to see that they are still thriving. I can always count on Craig or another member of their staff to educate me whenever I have a question about a supplement's effects or intended usage. It's hard to walk out of there with just one item, true. They have so many great natural products! Not only food and vitamins....soaps, essential oils, teas, water, etc, etc... Nutri-Foods recently lowered their prices and every vitamin supplement we bought today met or beat internet prices. They have the best selection of MegaFood vitamins I've seen and I typically shop at Sprouts out in Az. The service is excellent and the staff sure knows their stuff. This is a true blue, old school health food store--not like these new big box stores popping up everywhere that have Coke and taffy right next to an end cap of bone broth and a very boiled-down selection of supplements. I was in today looking for a specific item. The gentleman behind the counter took me to the shelf to find that everything on the shelf had been sold so he looked it up and found that it was among many boxes of shipment they had just received. Shocking but real. Went in for Lypospheric C and they were charging 49.99 for a box of 30. Seemed high but I purchased it and left. When I got back to my car I looked it up on Amazon and it is 29.99 for the exact same item. I called and just asked them if that was correct because it's so much higher. The man on the phone checked and confirmed the price. When I asked him why it was so significantly higher than on line his exact response was. "That's what we charge. If you don't like it bring it back". Never Again!! My advice is if you absolutely have to shop there check every item with an on line source before purchasing, and even then, why would you want to support a business that doesn't care about people and is knowingly gauging prices? Been going too this store for years. The staff is helpful and the selection is great. I'm confused by the bad reviews of their prices. Some items are cheaper here than many stores, including online, which was surprising since it's a specially market, so I make it a point to shop here for certain health food items. I also go out of my way to come here because I like the quality of the food items. I love Nutri-Foods! The staff is always warm and friendly, and extremely knowledgable about their products. I stopped in for the first time months ago to pick up a multi-vite, and I was impressed to see the selection that they have available. Everything from organic, natural cereals to a wide assortment of teas, to bottles upon bottles of vitamins. I also use only cruelty-free bath products, and they have a decent selection of things like JaSon, castille soap, and Avalon Organics to choose from. They have a great selection of essential oils, as well. Everything is decently priced, too. They carry various brands from high end vitamins, to your basic vitamins that are well within a budget range (anywhere from $5.00 - $15.00). The thing I love most about Nutri-Foods, though, is the fact that they are a local business. This place has become a staple in our organic/ natural products shopping. The staff is always helpful but not intrusive, they always have good recommendations. If they don't have something you want they are more then willing to help you find something comparable or order it for you. The selection is HUGE. They have recently renovated to improve the flow and set-up of the store. I drive from the other side of town because they always have what I need for a reasonable price and I think its important to support local businesses (they have been around since the 1950s). This place is great! I can't believe I'm only the 3rd review. I'm not sure of anything they don't have! Organic produce, soaps, great teas, and every pill on the face of the earth. The staff are really great and are never intrusive but always helpful. My doctor told me to start taking charcoal of all things and not only did they have it they have several varieties of it. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for at Nutri-Foods, and the staff have always been very helpful. Even on Saturdays, they don't seem too busy. They are a local small business, but honestly, I did not notice a huge difference in prices from Whole Foods. I usually only purchase vitamin supplements and protein shakes, which I'm sure have a lower price-point because they sell more of those products. They have a great location - right across the street from the Royal Oak farmers market, so it's quite convenient to stop in here. read more

Really like this Market. I'm always able to find the unique and more particular items here. Great pricing on vitamins and recently purchased mushroom hot chocolate and found it to be the best price compared to other shops. However, they have some items I can't find anywhere else which is why I keep coming back. The store is also in a convenient location for me and I can usually find a parking space in the lot near the back door. We love shopping online but I do not like our clerks losing their jobs and us missing smiles because of online challenges of pricing. Sometimes i go there, just buy a protein bar, and i end up leaving with a basket of goodies. This is like shopping at a Plum Market or a Poppa Joe's -- expensive! At least if I shop at either of those grocery stores I can find lots of sales people to help me. At this store, I didn't find a salesperson walking around asking if I need anything. You are on your own until you get to the cashier. Needless to say this was a bad experience. I entered the store and wandered aimlessly for a while looking for the supplement I needed before someone asked if I needed help. When I explained what I was looking for St. John's wort and mentioned two specific brands (gaia and new chapter) I was informed that they didn't carry either of those. This surprised me. After asking what brand he would suggest he responded with "Well I would never suggest this supplement to anyone." I was a little taken aback by this but waited for him to go on. He then pulled one off of the shelf to show me and went on with, "oh this ones is expired, go figure." As this interaction was happening a woman was storming out mumbling about how upset she was.
