Television is stable and reliable (but horrifically expensive if you want to see anything worth watching), but the telephone and internet are spotty. There are weeks when the connection drops five or six times a day, others where there is no problem at all. Sometimes the line is down for a few minutes, other times half an hour or more, occasionally two or three days.
Calling Numericable is fraught with idiocy. To get through to an operator, one has to enter the account number - and go through a series of automated responses - then when finally in contact with an breathing living operator, one has to give the account number yet again, then confirm name, address and telephone number, because their system apparently has no way of recognising incoming calls and linking databases.
As a customer, you have to realise that it is presumed that you are at fault, your actions have produced the poor result, and of course there will be no credit for the time you lose due to Numericable's technical incompetence. They even had the nerve on several occasions to ask why I was calling from my cellphone rather than from my registered phone - which of course is inoperable when the internet connection is lost.
I have replaced all the cables from their arrival point in my apartment, ensuring tight connection and correct impedance. I have replaced the modem per their instructions - by going to their offices and waiting in the lobby for an hour before I could see an agent. Nice new modem - and fortunately it re-boots automatically, so I don't have to disconnect then reconnect endlessly to get a signal. But still, the line drops as before. They offered to send a technician to look at the installation - but I will have to pay for the visit no matter what he doesn't find.
Given the opaque service - the invoices don't even show the breakdown fo charges - and the high cost of their service, you might better be served by Belgacom - it may be a little more expensive, but at least you will have reliable service. read more
