The 2026 Home Energy Upgrade Initiative…read more Inquiries were made to Keeney in Neenah regarding the attic insulation upgrade for a 1954 ranch-style brick home located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the attic lacked adequate insulation, with only 2-3 inches of deteriorated insulation present. Additionally, the entire attic, ceiling, and chimney required vapor sealing and the removal of old insulation. To ensure optimal sealing of the home, the basement exterior rim joist should also be foam sealed. Prioritize Energy Testing: Conducted both before and after the re-insulation of the home. The purpose of this test is to identify the existing insulation characteristics of the home and compare them to those after re-insulation. Insulation Team: Tyler, Nick, and Trevor - all highly skilled and professional individuals who consistently provided us with updates throughout the entire process. The attic upgrade process involves several steps: 1. Removal of old insulation. 2. Chimney wrapping and proper ventilation of the bathroom vent fan. 3. Covering the pod ceiling light and adding vent panels for the eaves. 4. Sealing the entire attic and ceiling with spray foam. 5. Spraying in 17 inches of cellulose insulation (fire retardant, pest retardant, higher R-value, and 100% recycled). 6. Construction of a new attic access cover with insulation. Basement Rim Joist Sealing: The entire basement rim joist was sealed with foam. Prior to this work, we had capped the concrete block basement wall tops with rigid foam and caulked in 2022. Current Residence: Acquired in 2022, necessitating extensive maintenance. Previous Energy Upgrades: 1. In 2022, the furnace and ducting were replaced. 2. In 2022 and 2025, the 1954 windows were replaced. 3. In 2026, the outdated air conditioning system was replaced with a Bryant VAN 290 Heat Pump. Why Choose a Heat Pump: Prioritize Energy Efficiency Conclusion: 1. Keeney's sales process was entirely transparent. 2. The initial energy testing revealed that our home requires upgrades. 3. Scheduling was flexible and accommodated our timeframe. 4. The work was completed as expected and met our expectations. 5. The final focus on energy testing is pending. That concludes our conversation for the time being, Donna and Dave.

Damean, Hunter and Noah arrived on time, made sure their travel path to and from my attic was sufficiently protected, and they then went about their business expeditiously. Damean kept me informed on duties for each day and invited questions, which he answered readily. My next project with them is gutter replacement, and I expect to have the same quality experience.

We were told that the repair would require two workmen at $90/hour, which we were okay with since we wanted the work done quickly. The guys arrived on time and were polite and seemed to work quickly. All that was required was some caulking around the chimney flashing and the guys left for a total of about 30 minutes of actual time they were at our home. The bill came a couple weeks later at $525 ! The bill was not itemized, so we called for clarification. There was time for travel, okay, fine. There were materials such as gloves, caulk. Okay, makes sense, but still does not add up. "Oh and don't forget the $250 service charge." A service charge that was never mentioned until we questioned the bill. There are plenty of upfront and honest roofing contractors out there We will not be using Great Lakes again.

When I called to say they weren't here 7 hours and why would it take so long to caulk around 7 windows, they could not justify it, but wouldn't budge on the cost. I asked them to work with me, telling them I wanted to pay the bill at a reasonable rate, but they wouldn't do anything, even though they couldn't justify the cost. Stay away from this company. You will be sorry.

Nick and Grayson were very thorough, inspecting both the basement and exterior of my home. Despite all of us checking, no entry or exit points were found. They believe the yellowjackets may be from an old nest from last year, as they were all small. As a precaution, they recommended a preventative treatment inside and outside to eliminate any remaining insects and reassured me that there is no active infestation, which was a huge relief. I was very impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail, and I would highly recommend Slayer Pest Control for honest, reliable service.

Nick answered my call right away and had me scheduled for the next morning. I appreciate that he made the effort to come the same day but the weather had other plans. He gave us a two hour appointment window and courteously notified us a half hour before arriving. He explained everything and quickly got to work, which also involved digging out the foam we had used to try to seal the cracks (I know now this is a big no-no). He treated the area and gave us a very fair price. Would highly recommend if you want kind, fast, and affordable service!
