Compared to prices elsewhere the little sushi box of 8 I got was reasonably priced but I have to admit that I have had much nicer sushi. It might have been just me but it seemed really sweet in taste, which confused me. Mind you, I did finish it all. Overall though it is a nice little place to grab some quick food rather than the usual suspects of pasties and sandwiches.

There are a few tables to dine-in, but don't count on it - takeaway is easier and most of the tables are communal. My boyfriend and I shared the seaweed and preserved vegetable salad, and I got a miso soup plus some salmon/tuna nigiri and mixed maki. It's amazing how fresh it is, for sushi in a box - they must be making it all day long, hidden away in the kitchen. The seaweed salad is different than what you usually get at restaurants because of the preserved vegetables, but that's what makes it great. Much more complex, crunchy from peanuts, and surprisingly spicy! The miso soup was brimming with seaweed and tofu and was much more (quality-wise and quantity-wise) than what you get at a sushi bar normally. You will feel very safe eating the raw fish here, so order with confidence. It's all as fresh as you'd expect from a proper restaurant, or fresher! Great place to get lunch if you know you have a big dinner coming up and want to eat light. Hope to come back here many more times!

We are visiting my cousin and her family in New Castle. Im…read moreoriginally from Latin America and my husband is Polish. We live in the USA and love Hibashi. We decided to bring everyone to this place that I found on Yelp. We sat down and they took our drink order. Normally my husband and I prefer natural drinks over soda. (Orange juice, tea, lemonade). I heard someone order lemonade so when it was my turn I ordered the same and then my husband who was next to me ordered one as well. When the drinks arrive we both get soda: a Sprite. Then they explained to me that in UK there is no such thing as lemonade (fresh water, lemon juice, sugar) but Sprite, the soda has completely replaced the natural drink. I explained to the lady the confusion. Told her we were visiting UK and this was our first experience ever in a UK restaurant. Explained what lemonade was in the US and asked if she could exchange both our drinks to coke. If We were going to have a fountain drink we prefer coke and did not like sprite. She came back again with our Sprites explaining how they had already come out of the fountain sprayer and they could not sell them to anyone else. We had to consume them. I asked my family if we could just leave and go somewhere else where customer service was existant and they were fine so I got up, paid our drink tab and we all left to a really good restaurant. I will write a good review about it. The manager/owner of this place is so xxxxxx that he lost 11 patrons just because he wouldn't exchange 2 sprites for 2 cokes. They were not even can or bottle. The guy was pouring them out from that fountain hose looking thing. I bet the cost is pennies. Not smart at all I understand the confusion and how I should have research how words differ here. However, customer satisfaction is global. Im not giving any restaurant a penny more of my money if they cant even change a sprite for a coke. Especially because there was a good reason why. It wasnt that we changed our mind. I explained we were foreigners and for us lemonade is lemons, water, sugar. This guy didnt care about his buisness (lost 11 patrons and possible later referrals plus a bad yelp review) Did not care about his city, New Castle (our fist experience in NC) Did not care about how tourists view his country as a whole. If he is the manager, he should get fired. If he owns the place they should close it down for bad service!!!

I…read moreguess it is cheap and cheerful, you don't have to wait for food and you get to have whatever you want and however much you want. As far as buffets go, this is the fanciest I've seen. It's also an Asian-fusion style buffet that also serves on-demand grilled food, sushi, dim sum, fresh salad and pizza. The menu is adjusted slightly from day to day and time but you can always guarantee the staples you expect from a Chinese buffet. Most importantly, there is a large range of dessert all separated into small, cute containers so you can have a bit of everything from jelly to cake to ice-cream and fruit! The price is decent for the buffet and a drink, the customer service is average and there's cubicles for larger parties and plenty of seating. It does get busy and noisy though. Access on street level and a part of intu Eldon Square, this is a popular and easy to get to choice for lunch and dinner.

You can see the…read moreold location if you're standing in front of the new one, which is silly, but I like their new space! Five of us sat in a spacious booth, and decided to order the set menu. There are several to choose from, which aren't described on their online menu. Basically at least 2 people need to get it (don't think the whole table does), and they just bring you tons of food. TONS. We went for the second cheapest, which wasn't cheap at all - £18.50 - so only go for that if you're really hungry. You can easily build a cheaper meal than that from the regular menu, but it was fun to try a lot of dishes. We all got miso soup first, then some beautifully presented sushi came out - salmon nigiri, egg nigiri, and one piece of maki. The pieces were huge! I love how they give you the exact right amount for how many people are in your party, so no fighting. The fish was fresh, and the maki roll looked really precisely made. Presented on a granite slab, really lovely. Then we got an onslaught of food. It was intense. Tempura veggies, shrimp, and crabstick. Seafood fried rice. Little fried chicken bites. Pork gyoza. Is that it?? I think so. The dumplings were a big hit, really delicious. The chicken and rice were both a bit under salted, but I'm not going to lie, I really enjoyed them. Some of my dining mates weren't sold on them - and yes, they needed more seasoning, but I guess I just love fried things! The fried rice had a really classic taste, reminded me of fried rice I used to have when I was a kid. The squid in it was too chewy though! I loved the tempura, big crisp fresh vegetables in a light batter (I didn't try the prawns). And dessert was a creative but hard-to-eat tempura apple (warm) served with cold vanilla ice cream. Loved the differing textures and temperatures. We didn't come close to finishing! We were STUFFED but left lots of fried rice and some tempura and chicken bites. Only order this if you're really, really hungry. But it's a fun way to try lots of dishes! I'd definitely come back here anytime, for a set menu, some sushi, or some Japanese dishes I've not tried before. Pretty good prices for wine and beer, too.

Their food is affordable (ranging from $9 to $21, see the menu photo for more information) I first found out about Kanda from two people that were showing people their menu on Queen Street and I was really interested, so I decided to check the place out a few weeks later. Turns out, Kanda is located on the basement of The Strand shopping arcade arcade, and to get there you can enter from their stairs (which has a great decor by the way) on the Elliot Street end of The Strand shopping arcade. I was greeted by a very warm and friendly woman who patiently attended my sister, grandmother and I - including our questions, even going to the kitchen to double check her answers for some even if we didn't ask her to! The restaurant itself is well decorated and very spacious - much more that it's nearby neighbors such as Daikoku, which has been established for longer and is nearly always crammed with people when it's dinner. They offered a lunch and dinner menu and an all you can eat choice (which seemed very tempting and I am more than willing to test and review soon) Yes, it is slightly more expensive for their snacks but they prepare and garnish them well - I ordered two Takoyakis for a test-run and they decorated it complete with extra seaweed cuttings on top (yay!) and to top things off, for this month only (their first month) they also have a free drink promotion. This hidden gem in the city is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for well prepared Japanese food in the city with a spacious/well decorated and clean restaurant, even if it means paying a few extra dollars for snacks that other restaurants (then again, their food is affordable so you can splurge on snacks, perhaps?)
