We decided to bring everyone to this place that I found on Yelp. We sat down and they took our drink order. Normally my husband and I prefer natural drinks over soda. (Orange juice, tea, lemonade). I heard someone order lemonade so when it was my turn I ordered the same and then my husband who was next to me ordered one as well. When the drinks arrive we both get soda: a Sprite. Then they explained to me that in UK there is no such thing as lemonade (fresh water, lemon juice, sugar) but Sprite, the soda has completely replaced the natural drink. I explained to the lady the confusion. Told her we were visiting UK and this was our first experience ever in a UK restaurant. Explained what lemonade was in the US and asked if she could exchange both our drinks to coke. If We were going to have a fountain drink we prefer coke and did not like sprite. She came back again with our Sprites explaining how they had already come out of the fountain sprayer and they could not sell them to anyone else. We had to consume them. I asked my family if we could just leave and go somewhere else where customer service was existant and they were fine so I got up, paid our drink tab and we all left to a really good restaurant. I will write a good review about it. The manager/owner of this place is so xxxxxx that he lost 11 patrons just because he wouldn't exchange 2 sprites for 2 cokes. They were not even can or bottle. The guy was pouring them out from that fountain hose looking thing. I bet the cost is pennies. Not smart at all I understand the confusion and how I should have research how words differ here. However, customer satisfaction is global. Im not giving any restaurant a penny more of my money if they cant even change a sprite for a coke. Especially because there was a good reason why. It wasnt that we changed our mind. I explained we were foreigners and for us lemonade is lemons, water, sugar. This guy didnt care about his buisness (lost 11 patrons and possible later referrals plus a bad yelp review) Did not care about his city, New Castle (our fist experience in NC) Did not care about how tourists view his country as a whole. The sushi arrived beautifully presented and incredibly professional-looking. The flavour combinations were bright and bold, and they were more unique than any other sushi I've had locally. My husband loves what he calls "American sushi" - creative, big rolls instead of just simple, traditional flavors. And this place really nails what we love about sushi in the US without it being over the top. It still feels light, and easy to put a whole piece in your mouth, but there's a lot going on inside the rice. Can't wait to try it again! For those who haven't been, this place is upstairs in The Stack - a complex of shipping containers filled with food and drink venues on the old Odeon site. There's a little seating inside their particular container, but lots more seating outside. There are heat lamps, and they'll bring you your food wherever you're sat.

My mistake was also ordering northern pork dumplings which were also slightly greasy and rich, though very good. Overall the ambiance of this place is very nice, like a traditional noodle house, though very busy and slightly loud at times. The service was adequate though not terribly friendly. I think it's neat see the same dishes approached in different ways, made with regional changes, etc. Chinese food moved into standardisation long ago and Thai is inching ever close, but Korean still seems to be without that level of commercial takeover. Korean food gives you a few options, grilling yourself at the table is popular, and is best enjoyed by people who enjoy both meat and vegetables... it's always fun to order a few of the grill dishes with an assortment of the vegetable side dishes. These aren't your typical English veg dishes, and aren't huge, but I also haven't met anyone that hasn't liked the exciting little variety dishes either. I would say that if you've never had Korean food, but like the idea of it or adore Asian food then you would probably really like this place... heck, I like this place and have been several times, it's just that some of my favourites here don't pack enough flavour in comparison to some of the other Korean places I've tried (and that's on a sliding scale based on expecting differences)... I just don't love the Bulgogi or Galbi here, Bulgogi being a Korean staple and probably one of the most famous dishes... it lacks a bit of the subtle sweetness many other places have so after three or four attempts I've given up on ordering it at this particular place. Luckily the Tteokbokki, Korean rice cakes (think squishy, not your Japanese rice cake) with seafood cakes in a spicy sauce, has shined on each try so 1 out of 2 isn't bad. The other downer here, which will mean more to some than others, is that every time we've been the drinks have been fairly warm... bottled beer of that variety just shouldn't be warm, and while not having been to Korea itself I've been to many Korean restaurants in a few different countries and cold beer was always the norm... on a subsequent visit I switched to Diet Coke just hoping it would have been from a different fridge, sadly that didn't seem to be the case as it was also warm - this is a fairly easy thing to fix so here's hoping they get the memo! The place itself is suitable, it's nothing flashy, but has a good enough atmosphere and has a few longer tables for groups... due to the way the food is eaten, and the previously mentioned side dishes, etc., this place is definitely enjoyed more with a few friends. (One note, it's a little hard to find if you've never been so t may be worth looking for Blackfriar's... if you're looking directly at it then Mannaza is to your right on the corner.) So I'm with three stars on this one... literally A-OK. I've been several times, and would happily go back again, but some of that is down to lack of an alternative in the area to be honest. It's amazing how fresh it is, for sushi in a box - they must be making it all day long, hidden away in the kitchen.
