We used this service to have help caring for our mother who had dementia. We assumed Home Instead would use strict protocols in this time of Covid-19 especially since the people they serve are all elderly and vulnerable. The care giver came into my mother's home not wearing a mask - 2 days later we were told the caregiver had tested positive with Covid. Our mother got covid as a result and died 3 weeks later. We hired Nurse Care to care for our father 24x7x365 and in less than 3 months he was abandoned by…read morethe caregivers on two occasions, once after dark. The care managers have no plan to deal with call outs, they have no bench of "on call" caregivers to step in and cover shifts. We spent hours reviewing and providing input to our father's care plan and it was never even uploaded into their IT portal. A new caregiver was sent to the home and was told that we "just needed someone there", she was never even informed that my Dad had a cognitive impairment. When the "light housekeeping" duties were not being performed, we created a housekeeping task list for each shift, sent it to the care manager who acknowledged receiving it, and then found that it was never shared with our father's caregivers. In spite of the fact that we were prepared to pay 217K a year for home care and clearly expressed our dissatisfaction with the level of care being provided, a care manager never engaged to investigate and failed to visit the home to see what was taking place. When I called to terminate the service I was told "I am fine with that" by the care manager. These people DO NOT CARE about their clients or the quality of care being provided. BE AWARE OF THJS OWNER!! DO NOT HIRE!!…read more I hired Be Kind Home Care LLC to provide care for my 89-year-old father. The experience raised serious concerns about whether the contracted care was actually being provided as represented. On more than 25 occasions, my father reported that no caregiver was present during the contracted hours, including on the day he was discharged from the hospital. I live approximately 4,700 miles away, so I relied heavily on the company's representations regarding whether caregivers were present. When I raised these concerns with the owner, Shannon, she repeatedly assured me that caregivers were at the home. On two separate occasions when I was physically at my father's home during contracted hours, no caregiver was present. On both occasions, I contacted Shannon to confirm whether someone was supposed to be there, and she stated that a caregiver was present. On one particularly concerning occasion, a caregiver arrived approximately five hours late and then asked me whether I had administered my father's medications. At that point, I discontinued the company's services. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage families considering Be Kind Home Care LLC to independently verify that contracted care is actually being provided and to carefully document caregiver attendance and services. I have reported my concerns to the appropriate authorities, and the company is currently the subject of investigations by two North Carolina government agencies. If you have had a similar experience with Be Kind Home Care LLC and would like to discuss your experience with others pursuing available legal or regulatory remedies, please contact me.
