He basically explained what the Silent Drill Platoon would do, and then left us to our devices. He spent most of the time chatting with one of the students who it seemed like he knew. I didn't learn anything. I'm not exactly sure what I got for the course fee, I could have just showed up myself and would have had the same experience.

It was a fun experience…read more I always thought I could just get started by watching videos online on how to tile or do other things, but it's very hard to start. I thought this would be a much better way to start learning. Being able to be up close and have someone watch for common mistakes is really much better in getting started. You learn about a lot of different materials. You learn about common pitfalls that happens in the real world. You get to feel the consistency of the thunder, grout, and techniques for laying. You get to use a tile cutter (score and snap and power grinding). It was a unique experience for me. But also an eye opening experience. I was afraid to get started and now I am excited to take more classes until I feel comfortable tackling a project myself. I will be back for the flooring and waterproofing classes.

It's located about halfway between the Virginia Square metro station and the Clarendon metro station. If you enter the main building (VanMetre - formerly called Founders Hall), the lobby has an Au Bon Pain and restrooms toward the back. The campus is in the process of developing a new School of Computing, which will have a new state-of-the-art building in 2023 or 2024 right next to VanMetre.

But GBU sounds a lot like GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm). Which I don't think ever happened to me here. Did I mention this was my University for 3 years of my life? I know this campus like the back of my hand. I met John Kerry here, we saw Obama here, we went all the way to the Final Four against all odds. We ate the crap food on a daily basis. I slept with so many girls and a few boys and a few I'm not sure of. I lived on campus, near campus and then off campus. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. It was a waste of time. The University scores 5 except that they never gave me my diploma. Ever. Because I owed for a parking ticket that I never actually got... ever. I disputed it, it was never resolved, so I never got my diploma. They should be ashamed, really. I'm not paying for a parking ticket I didn't get. The professors - mostly - are 5-star rated. Except for the ones that aren't. The gorgeous campus is a 10 out of 5. Secluded and perfect. It's expanded a lot lately unfortunately but it's still lovely. I could go on all day about this place but my stomach feels engeorged, I must be hungry. I'm going down and mason myself some breakfast.
