Their version of laksa is obviously different from what you will get in Singapore and Malaysia. It is basically just adding coconut milk and curry powder to the noodles. No laksa leaves or other spices or hae bi (dried shrimps) in the gravy. My friend ordered the laksa and it looked like a weak looking cousin of Singapore curry mee. I had the mongolian beef with fried rice and chicken and corn soup. The beef was very salty, I wondered how much MSG was heaped into the dish. Likewise for the chili sauce I requested. The place was quiet with only one other table of diners. Maybe people preferred the other Chinese restaurant a few doors down which has been around since the 1950s. The menu looked similar though. This is not the place for refined Chinese cuisine aka Hong Kong style Chinese food. This is the place to get your "dirty Chinese food" fix. Sometimes you just want fried rice with a meat dish and chunky pieces of cooked veggies. The menu showed it serves rendang dishes besides laksa, so maybe that qualifies itself as a Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine eatery. Thai because it has tom yum soup.

To our surprise, two other patrons were also at the bar complaining about their food (raw pork to a pregnant woman) and the terrible service. By 7:30pm the young manager had a hand full of complaints to deal with and had no idea how to manage the situation getting into a spat with one of them. If I could give this place a negative star, I would as it does not deserve a solid one, far less the so called "Chef's Hat."
