Man who deceptively overcharged me.
Tony D.

Overcharged!! I ordered two pork combos for $13 each. When I gave him my card he said it was $30 with tax. I signed for $31.90 thinking maybe it was a little higher than he thought. When I looked at my emailed receipt it showed $30 subtotal, $1.90 tax. These guys are criminals. They overcharged more than $4 - someone please take a complimentary beverage on me. I'm never stopping at that food truck place again!!!! And they even have a tip jar in case they aren't overcharging you enough.

Yummy bbq

Food Truck Paradise is a stretch of food trucks that have lined up daily in New Haven, Connecticut…read moresince 1960. Every day as many as 29 food trucks can be found along Long Wharf Drive: a majority of them serving some form of Latinx cuisine. The Sweeney's Hot Dog truck, owned by Bob Sweeney, is often credited as the first truck to begin parking along the stretch all those many years ago... and it's still showing up today. By 2017, the stretch of road was becoming crowded with too many trucks. The city set up a special vending program as well as a lottery for licenses. Power hookups were also built along the street in order to eliminate the need for noisy generators. Each vendor pays $3,000 a year for a reserved spot and electricity. Plans are underway to build a permanent waterfront promenade on Long Wharf with benches, a bathroom facility, and picnic tables for customers. In addition to Long Wharf, New Haven also has additional designated food cart districts along Cedar Street (in front of the Yale School of Medicine), Sachem Street (in front of Ingalls Rink), and a downtown zone by the New Haven Green. My family and I visited Food Truck Paradise this past August. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've lived in New Haven all my life and this was my first visit to the stretch of food trucks. For as long as I can remember, there have always been food trucks parked here... since way before food trucks became the 'gourmet restaurants-on-wheels' as we know them today. I stopped at the 'Sandwiches El Cubano' truck and ordered their "Original Cuban Sandwich" (ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, mustard, Italian bread). My wife and son stopped at the 'Ixtapa' truck and ordered their "Chicken Tacos" as well as their "Nachos" platter. We also grabbed a couple of Mexican sodas and had a picnic lunch across the street by the water. Everything was so delicious and authentic! This may have been our first trip to Food Truck Paradise but it certainly won't be our last!

I grew up in Tampa where it's argued the Cuban sandwich was invented. The Cuban I got at this food…read moretruck was as good as any I got in Tampa. If you've never had a Cuban this is a great place to fall in love ( with the sandwich). It's on the waterfront in New Haven in a sea of Mexican food trucks. This isn't a criticism of this truck but this area needs picnic tables. Not a fan of eating in my car.

It's hard to make a quesadillas stand out, the ingredients are pretty standard and most taste…read morepretty similar. However, my quesadilla from here stands out from the rest. It was the most flavorful and freshest quesadilla I've ever had. The pico was amazing and the ingredient combination was just right. I especially loved the avocado, which was included, but is typically only offered at an additional price. To be fair, I'm not too adventurous when it comes to food and my go-to Mexican dish is typically a quesadilla, so I've had more than my fair share. Basically, I consider myself an above-average, experienced quesadilla critic. In a world filled of dozen of food trucks in Long Wharf, I picked this particular one, and I'm so happy I did. The menu looked good, the truck looked clean and the line wasn't too long (I'm not sure why). They also take credit cards, which was an added bonus. With a drink, my meal came to $9 and I loved every bite and I'm totally full. The BF ordered from another truck, but ended up getting an additional chicken taco here. He enjoyed the green sauce topping he put on, but it was a bit too spicy for me. I have to come back and try something else from here soon.

This venezuelan food place was great. It is located in the food truck area in Long Wharf New Haven…read more Food was great, best thing was the Chicha, which is a drinks made of rice, was awesome. The cachapas were sweet and the toquemos were nice and cheese. The owner working there was a super nice dude and I can't wait to go by thisnolace again.

Finally made it to Long Wharf to visit the Arepa food truck! For now they are open only Fridays…read moreand Saturdays but make sure you follow them On Instagram because that's where they will post and keep everyone updated with any changes. They have only been open already for 1.5 months. So, today my dad I went to grab a bite specifically at the Arepa food truck.I have been waiting for this moment !! Lol! So happy we did because it was delicious plus always glad we can support! I had an Arepa Rellena( beef) and as extras I added cheese and aguacate. Toppings are extra charge. My dad also ordered an arepa rellena but added cheese and sweet plantains to his . Arepas and Tequenos will come with a side of sauce with It. I wish they had an option on the menu where they had arepa that had everything on it for toppings with the option of chicken or beef and then also keep the other options as adding it separately for those who prefer that way ! So on to the drinks.. we both ordered Chica which is a creamy drink made out of white rice and tastes just like ( Arroz con leche estilo Colombiano ) rice pudding Colombian style. Soo good , it's like dessert but to drink! And my dad had tequenos which I couldn't have since they weren't Gluten-free but he definitely enjoyed eating those cheesy fluffy fried doughy deliciousness of goodness very much! Las arepas were very filling , we didn't wait long for them to come out either . The only thing is that my beef arepa did have some pieces that were kind of cold. No major issue , just wish it was all evenly hot . But that's an easy fix! The food was fresh, flavorful, tasty.. and it definitely filled us up. I just love arepas! The gentleman that greeted us( the owner) was so nice and very friendly!! Must say lunch was really good today!! Check them Out ! Now I know where to go for a stuffed arepa!

Tearing down I95 on a schedule, decided a quick taco was in order. You can order from the Yelp app…read moredirectly and all looked seamless, until I looked at the map and it showed the truck was somewhere near Yale when we were on Long Wharf. NOT TRUE! Yelp, fix your bad mappage. Luckily we called them and they described where they were (Long Wharf, with all the other trucks). Super nice, we got our order and it was delish. Burrito with pastor pork, fish tacos, chalupas, elote. The burrito is immense and has an amazing flavor from the roasted chiles in there. Husband couldn't finish it! Fish tacos quite respectable. Green salsa is tasty. The chalupas were dry but they are always dry, at that point we were full so didn't finish them or start the elote. That will be a good snack in about 50 miles! Thanks La Patrona!

I ordered one fish taco, one shrimp taco, an agua de Jamaica, and an elote. I absolutely devoured…read morethe tacos they were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Both the fish and shrimp were cooked just right, and the toppings brought everything together beautifully. The agua de Jamaica was refreshing and well balanced not too sweet, which I appreciated. The only downside for me was the elote. The flavor was good, but it was a bit too spicy for my taste, and I couldn't finish it. I love heat but it wasn't enjoyable. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely go back for those tacos again.
