If you stay there long enough, I believe your dancer (or you!) will find great fellowship/friendships. All the teachers are strong in different ways. They are good mentors to the dancers. The leadership of the studio has a clear vision for the organization. Cleveland City Dance serves a mission of making dance available to all sorts of dancers. They go an extra mile to share the benefits of dance not only with the families and dancers at the studio, but beyond. For example, now that the intensity of Covid has lessened, dancers are performing again in community outreach settings in different parts of the city. I truly believe that this organization teaches high quality, well informed dance technique in a thoughtful, intelligent way.

I recently completed the 30 day challenge with Nola movement to help develop strength and I was…read morevery impressed with the workouts as well as the team conferences and individual one on one sessions. Nola movement offers a combination of Brazilian and other dance genres in a class that is called "Island beats". What's nice about the dance class is that they give you directional cues and you end up working out without even realizing it! They also offer Zumba, strong, TaBoga, which is a hybrid of of yoga mixed with high intensity cardio. In addition they offer regular yoga and meditation classes. I got to work with Nike O, the owner of the club and discussed my personal goals as well as physical limitations. I'm still recovering from a pulled muscle so modifications are a must for me. Nike and her team were happy to comply and "slow things down" if an exercise was too difficult for me to handle and make it painless. I loved doing "strong" with instructor Sharee. Many of the exercises I was familiar with and she added little twists and turns to make it more challenging as well as a lot of fun. I also loved doing yoga with Stephanie and her partner. Yoga is a great restorative class and I highly recommend at least one restorative class when you are on a workout schedule. I also did a TaBoga class with her. Although I don't reside in Cleveland I am extremely happy that they continue to offer their classes on the "Zoom" platform. Purchasing a membership will not only give you access to online classes which are powered by the MindBody app but also you can take directly in their studio when they are open. I want to thank the entire Nola movement team for helping me take another step closer to achieving my strength goal and also for making their dances so much fun.

I have known Nike, the owner of NOLA Movement, for a while now. Something that I love about NOLA…read moremovement is that Nike understands the different approaches to body types, fitness levels, and injuries. She is a deeply inspiring person who brings high energy (but not the kind that drives me crazy) and creativity to everything she does. I love how she offers such a diverse range of classes that are accessible to every body. She is one of my favorite people in Cleveland and I am so excited she now has this new space in Cleveland Heights to share her gifts with the world on a regular basis! If you've ever visited a movement class with NOLA movement, get yourself there now. You will feel so welcome, invited, and empowered.

Yoga here was intense, physical, spiritual and well lead. I…read moretook the Vinyasa Flow class with Erin on Sunday and was amazed on the clear, helpful rhythm of the class. Approximately 9 people plus the instructor attended the class and it appears that I was the newbie of a tight knit group, however the class and Erin welcomed me openly. Though I am relatively new to studio classes, having developed most of my yoga skills via dvds, the instruction was spot on and could be adapted to someone just developing yoga skills or to the more advanced and well practiced. I would definitely attend this studio again and if this was my home neighborhood it would be my studio of choice. After class Erin engaged me in conversation sharing a link to my hometown and when I mentioned I was attempting to expand my knowledge of yoga and explore more types of classes she recommended other options for me. I also happened to mention I plan on spending a week in the OC, CA area in September and she encouraged me to attend some of the studios there that she had great experiences with. This has been one of the best yoga experiences I have had to date.

I went to Green Tara Yoga tonight after having lower back pain that has persisted over the course…read moreof many months. I have been to other yoga places, most recently the place on W. 25th St. in Ohio City. Green Tara Yoga is the best experience I have had by far. If you are a teenager or a cheerleader, or want to listen to calming nature sounds and smell incense, you should not come here. But if you honestly want and need to feel better--if you have body aches and want a place that takes these issues seriously, Green Tara is your place. Karen took me and my issues seriously and she knew what she was doing. This woman is an expert. I thought I'd try it for one night, and ended up signing up for eight classes this evening. I am pleased.

I've been going to Green Tara for over a year and while all the teachers at the studio are very…read moregood, Karen is by far the best. She is an excellent instructor who is disciplined and emphasizes form, teaching you to be thoughtful and aware of your body. What really sets her apart is that she is both yoga teacher and life coach in one, without being too self-help or corny or inaccessible. I'm not at all new-age-y, but her classes really transcend your traditional pose/ stretch/downward-facing dog, and leave you with both a refreshed mind and body. The studio is small but cozy, and you get a feel for a sense of community as the classes are a good mix of long-time veterans and first-time drop-ins. I've also taken some classes at the Yoga Room which is an amazing facility in one of the converted Little Italy school-houses, but the quality and the level of detail of teaching at Green Tara in one of Karen's classes is unmatched. I've only ever done Iyengar yoga (minus the yoga class I went to at a 24hr Fitness once, which was so UNNATURAL and weird), so I can't compare it to any of the other yogas, but the perfectionist in me loves the slower pace and an almost cerebral emphasis on form. Check this place out!
