Shipping a whole cake would've been hard and unreliable, so I was excited to see this tea cake option... and that they could personalize the little cakes with pictures!! I'm in Georgia, and the ladies were very responsive and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted, both in flavor and in design!! Angela and MaryAnn were patient and just altogether awesome! They were clear on what they could and could not do, and were great about my choices of flavors and design. SUPER HAPPY with how the cakes turned out, the time it took to get the cakes, and the taste!! I ordered chocolate, lemon, & pistachio cakes, which weren't all listed online, but they were able to do it anyway. The flavors aren't overwhelming, which's good, and they were delicious! My hubby and kids were surprised and impressed!! Love you all! Can't wait to order more in the future!

I cannot express how relieved I am to finally have an authentic Cajun destination right here in Parkland because those boxed Cajun kits from the grocery store simply do not come close to the real thing. The fact that this restaurant chose our community to plant their roots means more than they probably realize. This place clearly knows its craft and does not cut corners. Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic Cajun done right. Velvet's Big Easy I wish your team a overwhelming success here in Parkland!

It's a "comfortable" feeling restaurant even though it has standard older restaurant chairs. We arrived just before noon on a Sunday. The Sunday hours are only 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The menu on Sunday is limited and is a "rotating" menu. Once seated our server Darryl took our drink order. It did take a little while to get my coffee, but not a big deal. The owner came to our table to chat and a member of our party asked if she could have a meal without grits. The owner was confused and after a back and forth conversation brought a sample of her house made grits as a sample. The member of our party tried the grits and he "eyes lit up!" The grits were that good. Bottom line? The food was very good. Our server was attentive. Would we go back? Yes, but for dinner. I was very happy with my shrimp and grits. The shrimp could have been a bit more spicy for my liking, but were the right spice level for my wife. I am hoping jambalaya is on the menu in the evening along with red beans and rice. We will have to see.

I ordered food for TWO people. Somehow, I spent $82 on some of the most disappointing food I've had in a long time. The cabbage was a tiny portion and completely tasteless. The spinach tasted like someone took frozen spinach, steamed it, and called it a day. Not even a pinch of salt. The chapati was dry as hell, tasted old, and seemed to be made with some strange flour. Nothing about it tasted fresh. The kachumbari was honestly insulting. $3 for less than 1/4 cup of chopped onions and tomatoes with absolutely no seasoning. THREE DOLLARS. And don't even get me started on the goat. This was supposed to be the star of the menu, and it was the biggest disappointment of all. Don't get me started on ghe pilau. No meat, tased dry and old and movrowaved For $82, I expected decent portions, fresh food, and at the very least, some seasoning. Instead, I got bland, overpriced food that lacked even the basics of good East African cooking. I have no problem paying good money for good food, but this was nowhere near worth the price. Save your money and go somewhere else. The pictures speak for themselves.
