Unfortunately for tourists, France tends to shut down during the month of August. The large tourist destinations like the museums and national landmarks are open for visitations, but many of the restaurants and small mom and pop stores close. As a result, many of the popular hot spots to eat are not available to dine in. Fortunately, Les Nouilles Vivantes remains open during the month of August and is one of the better eateries available in the Moulin Rouge area.
From the outside it looks like your standard Grade B/C New York City Chinese take out place. It doesn't look appetizing, it doesn't look clean, all the seats are in the back and as a result it doesn't even look like people dine here. However, there is a hand pulling noodle station in the front window and this was what drew me in and made me want to give this place a try.
The noodles are a tad too thick, but have a nice flavor and consistency. Their sauces are nice, and their broths could use another depth of flavor, or maybe just some more time to brew into a bold broth, but had all the right hints of flavor to make good noodle soup. The flavors are authentically asian. As the name suggests, Les Nouilles Vivantes is a delicious noodle shop. They have other items on the menu, but I did not try them. My recommendation would be to stick to the name and eat their noodles and you won't be disappointed. read more
