Our home has a ton of pockets doors - 4 total. I have had a love-hate relationship with our pocket doors because they are original from the 70s but they are convenient with saving space.
We were referred to Nothaft Carpentry by the company that did our interior doors and closet doors. They told us that Nothaft Carpentry we're one of the few companies in the area that specialized in pocket doors.
We reached out and quickly had Gary over to look at our pocket doors and gives us a bid proposal. The bid proposal laid out all the work that would be done. It included, removing existing pocket doors along with the rollers, tracks, guides, and trims. Installing new pocket doors plus with everything else that goes along with it. Other pocket doors had to be cut down to size. New rollers installed on the other pocket doors along with the new latch hardware. So quite a lot of work! We ordered and picked up the doors and painted them ourselves. Gary did the rest.
Our bid date was in January 2021 and the job was completed in February 2021. The bid estimate versus what we paid was within 20 bucks. So we were happy with understanding what we would have to pay once the job was done.
Our pocket doors now slide like butter. Before they would jam and get stuck and were a pain. Now our doors glide without issue. Also love that our pocket doors can now lock!
The only downfall was the trim/molding that had to be removed around the pocket doors. The molding was reinstalled but wasn't put back in the best shape. The molding and trim were caulked but it looked pretty sloppy. I had to go back and re-caulk the seams and re-paint. Other than that I was very happy with the service. Gary knew what he was doing and was professional and overall pretty tidy. read more
