I've been to this shop a few times now. Always get a great haircut by Mike. He lined up my "hard part" perfectly! The line is precise and his fading skills are expert level. Plus, it's a clean shop and since you can make appointments, it's not crowded. Mike is a true professional who takes pride in his work. It's not the least expensive shop ($35 haircut + $5 tip) but for the service you get, plus free/easy parking, I'd ser say it's worth it. He always has funny movies on too! read more

Just had the worst experience in customer service at a barber shop in 60 years. Had an appointment scheduled. Arrived on time. Made to wait 45 minutes because barber took someone right before my appointment. Felt highly disrespected. I'll be coming here for eight years, I've never had a problem with the guy (mike). I enjoy come here because he has a sense quiet but is work has been taking longer lately. He lets his appointments come late and take them and that puts back everyone who made appointment showed up on time. You moved to an appointment system because you wanted it now you cannot hold it. What kind of bullshit is that? Your service sucks dude you've been doing it for too long and you stay there but no one is too old for refresher. After 10 years, your skills are updated. Go learn something else new, If you don't even considering then I guess you're that ignorant. And as I'm getting my haircut, he states that I should go see another barber in front of a customer. What kind of reputation gonna have any people away in front of other people that are gonna make them wonder what caused that. I still have to tip regardless of that because it's out of moral, I always tip my barber well former barber now. Been going to Nostalgic Soul on and off for years and Deuce's/Michael's cuts are always top notch, some might not like the price but you pay for what you get. Some of the reviews complain about drop-ins only but as of now it's all through appointments. You will not be disappointed if you get a cut here. read more

After experiencing borderline sexual harrassing customer service at other local baraber shops, (where the barbers are more interested in asking for my number than cutting my sons hair) I was relieved when I found this place. It looks nice, PG13 conversations, the price was reasonable ($15) and Mike's always did a great job. Slowly but surely, after sitting there for an hour to an hour and a half a few times I started to realize how inefficent they are. Here's how this place works: the woman in the back (who I can only assume is the manager) only cuts hair by appointment while Mike handles all of the walk-in customers. Which is fine, it's her shop and she can elect to do so. BUT it became extremely apparent that all of her customers are "friends & family", AND she when asked...she refuses to take new customers. Who refuses customers? Also, she will happliy sit down and wait for 30 mins until her next "customer" shows while Mike has a line of people waiting... You tell me if that makes any Business Sense. Well, 6 months go by and I've pretty much mastered getting there close to when they open (which is whenver they feel like) to avoid the long wait. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, their prices go up...again. A taper is now $20! Two price increses within the same year? But wait for it, we went in again about a month ago and the price is now $25 for a taper...lol That doesn't make sense! 3 price increase in a year and a half...Not to mention their prices are no where to be seen in that shop. Guess that gives them the flexibilty to charge whatever they want to WHOEVER they want. So, I came to the conclusion that there are 3 factors that could be causing their rapid price increases. 1. Mismanagement of money. Which would be very stereotypical of an African American busniess. (I can say that, I'm African American) 2. I made a Yelp account just to make this review. Let me start off by saying the Haircuts are mediocre, and they anted up the price to 32$ for adults. Folks take your money elsewhere because they are not this good to be charging 32. I'd also like to add their customer service is complete garbage. The wait is at least 1 hour, and they are rude. Mike the only walk in barber is absolute trash. I'd rather cut my own hair than to be cut by him again, his sheer work is mediocre, and I asked for a taper, and this man gives me a high fade. I want to give this establishment so many kudos but I just can't. For starters they give great hair cuts but the customer service is GARBAGE. It's a cute little shop with so much potential. But enough is enough. A few yelpers mentioned that it may be race related and I assure you they are equally rude to myself and my family who are people of color. I got my sons hair cut here one time it was the first and last. My sons father had been going here on and off give or take a year. Every time I go in with him and my son, none of us are greeted. Its almost as though we are posing an inconvenience. Against my better judgement I allowed my son to get a hair cut here after much coaxing from his father. It will never happen again. My son has had haircuts before this experience and after and never has it been so traumatic. "Mike" seemed to be in a bad mood the entire time. He had zero patience and was extremely rude to both me and my child. I even asked about the price of the shirts they clearly had for sale because I wanted to buy one and all he could say was "I don't know". Okay. Every time we've gone, there is at least a 2 hour (uncomfortable) wait. Today my sons father tried once again (on his own this time,I refuse to patronize this business at least until there is a major customer service adjustment), but I digress. He was asked to leave a phone number and told he would be called in a couple of hours when space was available. Needless to say, the call never came. This barber took other customers who came in after us and had us waiting...I kid you not!!! 2 fucking hours. Don't waste your time and money in this establishment. The cut was coo. I was happy with it for the most part 8/10, over priced by other shop standards but the wait time and the time the only barber in there spends on each cut is ridiculous. I'm not saying that in a way where the first response would be, "if you want to nice cut it takes a while" I'm saying he takes forever. went to get a cut yesterday because they had a flyer that said FREE razor line ups on Tuesday's. they charge $17 for an adults haircut, $5 extra for that razor line up. anyway since i have a fauxhawk, they charged me $22 T0TAL just because they said its considered a "design". i personally don't mind paying it, just as long as they do a good job which he didn't! dude didn't know how to fade AT ALL! so i asked him to fade it better cause there's still hair sticking out & this dude busted out the scissors to try & fix it. the owner even tried to explain it to him but dude still couldn't get it right. then she tried telling me that's how its suppose to be. so i left with scars on my sideburns, paid the owner & dipped.
