Norwich Arts Centre is the kind of place that you can visit for no other reason than the ambience…read more As you walk in, the walls are full of band posters - most of whom you'll never have heard of - and the staff trotting about are all dressed in artsy hippie clothing. The foyer contains black leather chairs, which nicely compliment the bare brick walls of the building. Further inside, the concert room, bar, and upstairs lounge are all prominent and fantastic features. The drinks that the Arts Centre offers are displayed in handwritten, multi-coloured chalk behind the bar, which during the late afternoon is a good coffee place, and in the evening houses a bustling night life. Musicians gather from around the world most nights to perform at the Arts Centre. Locals will sometimes perform in the bar area, but most of the gigs happen in the seated concert room. The Arts Centre can boast stars such as Damien Rice and One Night Only during their very first tours, which is very impressive for such a small venue. A great place to grab a drink, meet with friends and hear some brilliant upcoming music.

The Maddermarket Theatre is a lovely local theatre in the heart of Norwich City Centre. Home to The…read moreNorwich Players for over 90 years this is a pretty special building but really the best thing is their programme. Welcoming new and established performers into their space is something this Theatre does really well. I visit every year to see East Norfolk Operatic in their performance and the theatre always feels very welcoming. Covering all the basics of a what is needed in a theatre: The bar- is standard but reasonable value for a small theatre. The toilets- never enough for the ladies in the interval rush but they are clean and looked after The seats- quite confortable but rather old fashioned cinema feel with a teeny rake because of the tradtional layout design inside so if you're small sit near the front. All in all if there was something you wanted to see that came up here go for it!

This is a great open air theatre space in front of the Forum building itself…read more We went to see a super production of "The Iron Man" by the Graeae Theatre company as part of the Norwich Festival. Although the reain caused one performance to be cut short we did see it twice more - it was superb. And the Iron Man 'puppet' [over 16 feet tall] was amazing.

Trying to book a ticket with the ios app. It kept switching me to the website and back to the app…read moreand back to the website. In the end I called them they recommended I try and book through the website direct not through the app. The website like the app is not user-friendly! Finally booking my tickets I had to proceed to the payment it it went round and round for over five minutes timed out I canceled it. It said I may have been charged for the tickets! I decided I would see if I could book over the phone. They said yes, but I would be charged for a phone call. I said fine and booked over the phone.
