The Hippodrome is one of the oldest surviving circus buildings in the UK dating back to the early…read more1900s. The circus features a water spectacular where the ring is sunk and filled with water for synchronised swimming routines. There is a dance troupe Estelle's dancers which regularly perform in the shows. The shows are full of colour and variety and the clown is hilarious. The downside is that the seats are quite steep around the ring - there's not much room but it's worth it because the shows are fantastic. A great way to spend an evening in summer and the kids will love it (especially the clown!)

Town centre hall used by local amdram and other charities for fund raising. Dates back over 300…read moreyears. It is the principal entertainment venue in the town and has undergone refurbishment. Seating is by loose chairs so leg room will depend on the number of expected audience (max 220). There is a licenced bar and drinks can be ordered for the interval. It currently plays host to various productions and live music concerts and serves the local and wider community as an ideal venue for craft fairs, exhibitions, drama/exercise classes, birthday parties and wedding receptions. Waveney District Council are currently seeking to offload the expence of running the Hall due to the current financial climate. Hopefully a suitable charity will take on the running of this succesful venue.

We visit shows here at least 10 times a year…read more The seeting upstairs is a little cramped and the rear of the circle seems a long way from the action with restricted views. The only access is by the stairs which makes it unsuitable for visitors with a disability. There is no disabled access to the bar! Downstairs (the stalls) is much better.

The theatre was bought by Waveney District Council in 1985, 24 hours before a demolition deadline, set by EMI. After a huge renovation project it reopened four years after its closure with a concert given by Rick Wakeman. Last night we went to see 2 Kinds of' MAGIC' (ELO/QUEEN). Brilliant, I recon' the finest tribute to Queen and ELO in a show featuring all their greatest hits. Both underetaken with breathtaking precision - This was deffinately a must for all fans of Queen and ELO. The show finalised with a standing ovation clearly showing the expertise of the performance. Theatre pro: Stalls plenty of leg room, no need for an aisle seat. Good prices. cons: long way to the bar, and stairs. In the middle: Decorated in green, you either love it or hate it.
