I looked up the yelp reviews for cabs in this area to get a ride to the Stamford train station. Despite the poor reviews on here, I decided to take a try because this was the only cab company I talked to that took Amex. I had no complaints, personally. The cab showed up on time. The car was clean and the driver nice enough. Got where I had to go, and when I got there my card was processed using Square, which is great because then I didn't have to worry about losing the receipt (they emailed it to me). To be frank, the only reason I'm even making this review is because after my research on which service to use I came to realize that the only reason one would likely review a cab service is if they had a bad experience. If I could leave zero stars I would. What horrible customer service. I called for a taxi to the train station. The guy immediately scolded me for not starting my call with my address. Then i asked for a cab in ten minutes. They showed up in 5min and left two minutes later and didn't answer the phone after that. I had to run in the rain to cacth my train. Calling the company to schedule a cab was challenging, I called the main line few times but they didn't pick up. Finally, I tried the Airport Limo number and was able to schedule my ride. The driver was polite and helpful, he showed up on time and got me to the airport quickly and safely. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Please listen to the negative reviews and stay away. I asked if they accepted credit cards and the woman on the phone answered yes. The driver, after being driven to my place and overcharged at 30 cents per 1/9 mile instead of 20 cents, told me they don't take cards. He checked with the dispatcher (apparently, the woman's husband) who I overhead on the entire drive yelling at the drivers and complaining about customers, told the driver I was lying. I called the woman up and she denied ever having heard my question... even though she answered "yes." THEN I asked the driver if this happened often and he admitted that it did. Don't rely on them to make a train. Was trying to make it to the South Norwalk Metro North station for the 5:35 train. Called at 5:13. Was told 10 minutes. The cab got there at 5:29. Missed the 5:35 and had to wait for the 6:22. The driver said they shouldn't have told me ten minutes, there was no way he was going to get there that quick from where he was. The cab was clean and the driver was polite, but I would have rather have had an accurate time estimate. I did tell the dispatcher I was going to the South Norwalk train station, so he really should have known it was time sensitive. Would go with another company in the future if possible. read more

Absolutely awful service - drivers act like driving you for pay is some sort of personal favor, the cars are in poor condition (smelly and dirty), and "reservations" are worthless - there's no telling if they'll show up. Walking may be a better option. read more

I've used the Norwalk Taxi service multiple times now and for the most part have had great service. Service highly varies from driver to driver, though for the most part the drivers as well as the service operator have been really nice. The only downside to this service (though this also applies to some of the other taxi services in the area) is that they're pretty much cash only, so remember to bring cash with you or, if you're in a bind, ask the driver to stop by a bank on the way to your destination. The meter will still be running, but if you need to get somewhere, it's better than trying to find an ATM if you're in the middle of nowhere without a ride. read more

I honestly never even got to ride in the taxi. I called and the first thing I heard was the rudest dispatcher I have ever heard in my entire life. I asked if this was Norwalk Taxi since I couldn't hear what he was saying and he proceeded to tell me it was a car service not a taxi. As good as it gets, for a cab company! Needed a last minute ride to local hotel to pickup our rental car and the operator on the phone was friendly and efficient! No need for chit-chat, just need address for "to & from" and how long it would be till it arrived for pick-up. The driver was friendly and offered two routes (local streets with construction OR highway with rush hour) based on my need to be at the hotel at a certain time. Got off the MTA at South Norwalk and got into this black taxi. The driver was mumbling something to me that was sort of incomprehensible, I just grunted and nodded. I just wanted to go to the Norwalk Hilton Garden hotel, the whole ride cost me $17 for under 10 miles of driving. A bit ridiculus since they charge 25 cents every 1/9 of a mile!!! Worst company in town. Dispatcher is rude, taxi takes forever, drivers take the longest ways and you cant tell them because they give you an attitude. I prefer Uber. Took one ride that cost me 5-6$ they charge 9$ twice plus I had to tell them where to go because they pretend that they don't know the town. read more

I live in Norwalk and don't have a car. (I'm working on getting my license) Norwalk Taxi is without a doubt my go to taxi service. I use them so much that the dispatcher and almost all the drivers know who I am. They have alway provided me with excellent service. I have also dropped my Iphone in the back of a cab twice. The first time I didn't notice until 6pm, and called them from my office frantic. The driver saw the phone in the back of the cab and brought it to the depot. Where the dispatcher held it for me until I was able to come by and pick it up. It would have be very easy for these gentlemen to walk off with my phone and I would have been none the wiser. I appreciate honesty in the people I do business with. The second time was less severe, I called minutes after exiting the cab and they were able to bring the phone back to me, no problem. The drivers are nice, and occasionally chatty. The one issue I have is it takes them awhile to arrive, usually no longer than 20 minutes after the call but I have had to wait 40 minutes in some cases. The dispatcher will usually give you an estimate timewise when you call and arrivals are always slightly after the given time. I personally think this is because they tend to take calls in route and have to drop off the current customer before heading to the next. Still, they are nicer than any of the other cab companies in the Norwalk area, and 10 times better than anyone in Stamford. read more

I love the idea of supporting this company. I live in Norwalk and often take them from train to home. However, the drivers are very nice and courteous and are good drivers, but the level of cleanliness is sad. There is just no excuse not to take your car to the car wash and spiff it up on the inside so people don't feel like they are going to get an illness because the inside is dirty! I called Norwalk Taxi at 6:01 am so that I could catch the 6:54 am train (I read the reviews and had another service on speed dial). The dispatcher pleasantly verifying the address and confirmed the time the taxi would need to be there. 5 minutes before the stated pickup time they were outside my door. They did not honk the horn. The drive was made safely, in record time and the cost was right on the money. I can only assume that the prior complaints were from people who 1) failed to plan ahead appropriately 2) don't really realize the market that this service targets and 3) have unrealistic ideas of how small businesses are run 4) Don't have a good grasp on how the meter works The cars are not brand new and do show some wear but its not like we booked and paid for a limousine service. The car was all in serviceable condition with a working seat belt. Obviously, the market for a Limousine service would demand a newer fleet and cost more than a casual taxi service. It is only expected that cash is the most encouraged option for this type of business since there is a business cost for and risks involved in accepting credit cards. I will definitely use Norwalk Taxi again for my casual taxi needs. I have programmed it in my phone and will use it anytime I do need a taxi locally. read more

I used this service yesterday, and the experience was perfect. I called 'last minute' (as in same day!) for a ride to the prom for my kid and her friends. They had a Suburban available which was perfect. The cost of the ride was very reasonable, the car was clean, the driver was prompt, and he was flexible on the pick-up time (the kids called the driver and got picked up an hour early.) I just wanted to say I was concerned about the reviews, but I actually had a good experience with Norwalk Taxi recently when I locked my keys in my car and needed a quick taxi from Norwalk to Stamford. The driver arrived within 10 minutes, seemed like a good guy, had a clean cab, took a direct route, and even took a credit card on his smart phone (though I had cash just in case). Was told it would be 10-12 minute wait for cab from business in Wilton to Stamford train station. I called after 20 mins when no cab appeared and they told me it would be another 5 mins. They never showed up and the gentleman waiting for the cab missed his train. I ended up calling another cab company and will NEVER call Norwalk Taxi again. read more

Have previously used this company for business approximately once per week and was very happy with them, specifically because they are familiar with my condo complex in Norwalk. I used them so frequently up until 6 months ago that I knew most of the drivers by name, all of whom were very nice. Until this morning. I called for a taxi and gave my information, only to receive a very rude call from the dispatcher saying I "needed to get outside, because he needs this car". I go outside, no taxi. Turns out the taxi is half way across the complex honking his horn at 430 in the morning because this dispatcher gave him the wrong information. Once I drag my luggage to the taxi, the driver apologizes for the mix up, which I appreciated. However, he then proceeded to harp on the stupidity of the dispatcher for the remainder of the ride. Clearly there is a communication break down between driver and dispatch, and a customer service problem as well. Very disappointed. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This is the 2nd time this company has picked me up SO late that I was very late to work. I called with plenty of time (about 40 minutes before I had to be at train station to catch it in to work) and was told I would get picked up 5-10 minutes later... 20 minutes later and I was still waiting, I called and was spoken to in a rude manner and told to wait another 5 minutes, another 10 minutes went by! If you are looking for a way to lower your self esteem immediately, call this taxi service. The last cab I was in was so incredibly filthy and broken down that it is hard to believe I didn't fall through the seat onto the pavement. Think duct tape and oily fingerprints. An added bonus, the driver babbled incoherently at me the whole way. I have know idea why he was sharing the things he was sharing. Best of all, it was really expensive. I arrived at my destination with motion sickness, twenty-five bucks lighter. Is it really good for a taxi business to have such terrible cars?
