(Which is also excellent) The food outlets have all opened in the last couple of months and there is a surprising range. There's also a $2 shop, nail salon, dentist, acupuncture place and Priceline. There is a Chinese grocer upstairs and I think the old Spotlight might still be there too. The reason the 5th star is missing from this review is the fruit n veg market. That place lacks a distinct standard of quality that Sydney Siders are used to, and frankly the fruit and veg there is appalling. I'm surprised it's survived and it really is the missing link in what would otherwise be the best shopping centre from Parra to Burwood - and it's quiet enough to always get a park (unlike the other 2 Westfields). Amazingly close for residents of Newington and SOP.

Now I can't stop going back! The roomy carpark has 2 hours free parking, then upstairs you're greeted with a sunny and fashionably modern courtyard lined with cafes and shops. This is the curative for my hatred of shopping centre cafes: with plenty of outdoor seating under broad umbrellas. There's a Cicco Cafe, Pattison's Patisserie and Simone Logue, as well as a Harris Farm, Hudson Meats, Chickens Plus and even a bookshop! And for parents it's too easy with a daycare and medical centre right upstairs. You may be perched right on the express way, but Stockland Cammeray is a very well designed spot.

I believe there are also some other shops like salons and book shop etc. There is 2 hour free parking here and the carpark is spacious. It's easy to get in and out of this place and its been a nice addition to the suburb. There is a medical centre some offices and a daycare in this centre. It's quite busy day or night with shoppers and restaurant goers. I like the space here and its open and welcoming. Not bad for a suburban shopping centre.

On the other hand, Chatswood Chase has forged a reputation for itself as the "fashion retail" capital of the area. Who could not agree more. There are an abundance of fashion styling and shopping night events on in this locale from time to time. A few new stores have recently opened here too. Even my favourite Lululemon. Chaddy Chase also has a pretty cool Apple store, and a mini kids playground in their kid-friendly area. If you're in the mood for shopping, a coffee break and lunch intertwined...then this is your place to "play."

The food court is very clean, with plenty of variety on offer from Indian to fast food. The sushi is super fresh and extra tasty. There is less of a crowd compared to Chatswood Westfield, which provides relief for those who dislike crowds (which I am sure is most of us). With less traffic, it is easier to shop and navigate your way around the centre. Chatswood Chase houses a number of high street and haute couture stores from Alannah Hill and Zimmermann to Lisa Ho and Veronika Maine. If you're looking for evening wear, Chatswood Chase is the place to go. Having forgotten where I parked my car, I asked the valet attendant to help me locate my car. He was very friendly and gave me ample instructions and directions. Overall, the thumbs up for Chatswood Chase.

The shops are divided onto two levels in the shape of a very gently sloped spiral. The whole complex is bathed in lots of light as the ceiling is glass, giving it a spacious and positive feel. The shops consist of all the usual suspects for your shopping needs, Woolies, newsagents, cafes, a butcher, a bakery (no candlestick maker), fishmongers, some clothes shops and a Chinese supermarket. One thing I noticed was the complete lack of mens clothing shops, in this Utopian Northbridge land apparently men aren't allowed to wear clothes. That, or it's so brazenly geared towards housewives that the idea of men doing the shopping is roughly equivalent to the idea that pigs may fly.

Having grown up in West Pymble I have been to the Philip Mall shopping centre in Kendall Street more times than I care to count. The Parkway Video was where we hired VHS copies of Beastmaster, Revenge of the Nerds and Conan the Barbarian. The fruitshop doubled as our lolly shop where White Knights, Toffee Apple's, Redskins, and Frys branded chocolate items were consumed. The fish and chip shop? I had so many scallops and soggy fries here it's a wonder I am not 1000 pounds. The current IGA was a Clancy's back then, the mascot of which was a Koala of Caramello's ilk. The pharmacy rounded out this side of the shopping centre, an absolute stalwart, it's probably the only thing that's never changed hands or brands (it's probably done both 10 times over). The other side had a gorgeous gourmet deli with all manner of smallgoods and providorial pursuits, which has since been replaced by a cafe. Next door was the new-comer, the Red Pepper chinese restaurant, which introduced me to sizzling Mongolian Lamb and became the regular chinese haunt for birthdays and special dinners - It's still here! A little further up was the aptly name Maxwell Swart, the dentist, clever clever... Witchery housed the finest in ladies wear, then the West Pymble Cellars for all your boozy needs, and finally the barber I never went to, became the pizza place I never went to became the.... well I dunno but I never went to it. Vinny's, and Samaritan bins loiter outside. There was also a Smith Foundation centre at the playground end of the shopping centre. Speaking of playground we should get back to my childhood mischief... Ok. As a child, as I stated, I frequented this shopping centre, so it was with a familiar ease that my mother allowed me to roam free in the adjacent playground. There was a metal slippery dip, metal monkey bars, a revolving egg (you know the ones you sit inside and spin the wheel, and then get out dizzy and vommy?), and the pinnacle of any playground the straight steel swings. These were the ones that Evil Knievels could send right over the top, in a 360 arc, much like the famed pirate ship at Australia's Wonderland, and unlike the crappy pirate ship at Luna Park. It was the latter of these, the steel swingset, that caught my attention, and being as dumb as a box of hammers I was blissfully unaware of the pendulum effects of the humble swing set. To me, it was a boomerang that never came back, and it was with this in mind that I gave the swing an almighty push away from me. I stood there, with my child brain and watched unperturbed as the swing came back at me to deliver an equally almighty blow. To this day all I remember is an explosion of stars as I hit the deck, mouth frothing with blood. You can imagine, I guess, the frenzy with which my mother returned from the supermarket, her young son bathed in a bloody swathe, screaming in shrill tones as concerned onlookers crowded around. I'm pretty sure I was "in trouble" as in "grounded" from then until I left high school hahaha. But yeah, such is my fondest memory of the West Pymble Shops. Ask me about my tongue scar sometime. The hole used to go all the way through, but has healed to a more palatable wound now.

The comparison is....conspicuous. On the other hand this little shopping centre has been a very handy addition to the Inner West. For starters its ushered in Fitness First. Now, love it or loathe it, you've got to admit it's pretty damned convenient being able to hit the gym right as you jump off the train on your way home from work. Newtown Central also houses a Foodworks, a Cellarbrations bottleo (more convenience(, a Vietnamese bakery, a nail salon and Sole Espresso (good coffee!). It will still take a while to properly settle into the suburb - but the location speaks for itself.

Finally! There's a DAISO in the West! Located at Westpoint, Blacktown (next to JB hi-fi)…read more Everything and I mean 'everything' costs $2.50. It ranges from clothes (scarf, socks, gloves), accessories (earrings, bracelets, necklaces), bathroom/kitchen items (knives, plates, towels) and a lot of pretty stationary. It has everything at affordable prices. $2.50 is a pretty decent price (maybe except when you pay $2.50 for stickers that you can easily get for $1 at the Reject Shop) BUT in saying that, $2.50 is pretty good for garden tools or kitchen tools or any other tools. The place is pretty new so everything is highly organised :) And friendly staff too! Come visit okay! :)
