His going to the gym with an adult. wearing crocs becuase they're doing weights. first he said no because of his age, then said no because because his wearing crocs. the only gym that crocs is not allowed. he can atleast sound nice atleast. Came in Saturday at 1:40pm.

I'm impressed. They haven't gone out of business yet like it's some it's community not wealthy…read morewealthy people so yeah I don't like the fact that you had to drop in after school. It's like extra freaking school man. You already have the full day of school and then you got the horror of going back to something just like it so I would not recommend even going there. They are just discriminating against all type of sports like pickle like just not pickle ball. I'm like surprised I came with a volleyball volleyball and a full bag of supplies to play with the volleyball so me and my dad were about to play in the gym right and just because they had drop they had no drop in volleyball. They didn't allow us to to play And then they said that we have to register into the system like I'm not going back to this place ever again neither am I going to any community centre like here's the thing I want to go play volleyball but here's the thing that's the only thing they don't allow terrible experience if I could give a zero star I would.

**REVIEW FOR THE VACCINE SITE**…read more Extremely, extremely well set up. Very efficient. Several desks doing their checks and balances. What we appreciated was that the technician SHOWED US what we were getting (this is not the case everywhere). This community centre has nice grounds as well. Looks like a new-ish building. Spotless and great air flow. Lots of open, airy spaces.

I came here for my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. There's a small parking lot on the west…read moreside of the building and a larger one on the east side. There's plenty of signs indicating that this community centre is indeed a mass vaccination site. There's 2 staff at the entrance to direct people inside. Another staff inside the entrance gives you a coloured sticker to put on your shirt to show which vaccine you'll be receiving (Pfizer or Moderna). Further down another staff gives you a page of COVID-19 screening questions and another with information on the vaccines such as risks of COVID-19, how the vaccines work, vaccine benefits, vaccine ingredients and allergies and side effects. Once entering the main area (hockey rink) another staff will give you a piece of paper with the time you can leave written on it. Yet another staff will let you know which station to go to for the shot. The registered practical nurse asks which arm you prefer the vaccine. After the shot you go to the designated waiting area to sit for 15 minutes. For the most part you're left to sit and wait but I did see someone in uniform (possibly a paramedic) check and engage in conversation with someone waiting. At checkout the staff prints out confirmation that you've received your vaccine and also emails it to you and gives you a sticker. Right before exiting there's an area to take a selfie for getting your COVID-19 vaccine. Have your health care handy since almost every staff you encounter will need to scan it.

My family and I have been coming here since some programs such as the drop in gym with exercise…read morebikes, treadmills & weight machines & the track and basketball court & gym opened during March. But now the swimming pool is open! Yesterday was the official opening day of this Toronto Community Centre 20 years in the planning by Councillor Frances Nunziata. This is frankly a have nots area (priority neighbourhood) of the city and as a result all recreation programs are FREE! As Mayor John Tory said in his speech, before he and Cllrs. Frances Nunziata, Frank DiGiorgio, & James Pasternak (the Toronto Parks Forestry & Recreation Committee Chair), along with local MPP Laura Albanese and MP Ahmed Hussen, cut the blue ribbon and the cake (see my photos), he used to tell his kids there is no free lunch, yet this facility is government funded and FREE. Both the MPP and the MP who attended hold positions as Immigration Ministers at the provincial and federal level in this immigrant heavy neighbourhood of Toronto, York South-West. The Province of Ontario donated land that they owned to the City of Toronto for $1 in 2008 so this facility could have a location in this area. My two daughters and I, both young women, and my ex-husband attended the opening ceremonies and ribbon cutting and enjoyed a choice of coffee, tea, soft drinks, peach juice or bottled water with cookies (chocolate chip, maple cookies and arrowroot biscuits), cupcakes and naturally a slice of cake. My youngest girl, 18, as is her habit, greedily vacuumed her way through the cookies cupcakes and cake slices, so much so that we had to pin her hair up to avoid dipping her hair in cupcake frosting! There were rubber duck door prizes for retrieving one of the rubber ducks from the new swimming pool, an all ages family dance party in the gym and opening day drop in fitness classes. It's a beautiful spacious facility. I just have a couple of accessibility nitpicks as a senior with an "invisible" disability (replaced knees + AS = arthritis of the spine): the disabled stall with grab bar isn't properly labelled as such and the separate accessible unisex washroom doesn't have a door sign OCCUPIED/VACANT. Also, the gym lockers are on the main floor whereas the exercise machines are on the second floor. The lockers don't have a big enough directional sign and you can't tell when you're on the second floor where the lockers are located. There is also no sign that there's a 25 cent deposit required to use a locker, the one thing in this place that is NOT free! My older daughter and I got told off by a staff member because we set our purses down on the floor next to the exercise bicycles we were trying out. He let it slide cause it was opening day but said in future, check all bags and change your clothes into gym wear downstairs before using the facilities upstairs. My older daughter thought it was great that there's a board games room. No offence, Snakes and Lattes but FREE access to board games beats an admission fee and in Weston/Downsview/former City of York, we don't have anything like a Snakes and Lattes Cafe, we don't even have a Starbucks! It's great to get some nice things like this community centre in this forgotten corner of Toronto. NEWSFLASH though, Yelpers, across the street from York Recreation Centre, they are building an Eglinton LRT station as we speak. One day you'll be able to take LRT transit to the door of this place. That should make this neglected area of the City start to Boom!
