The salesclerk took several alternate Polaroids of different pieces and sent me home to choose which one I wanted to place on my round oak table of my newly purchased home. Ten years fly by quickly. We still own the home, but not the table. Polaroid pictures have had their moment, we now snap pictures on cellphones. But the lazy-susan endures, as mechanically sound and beautiful as ever. It now occupies a table serving folks at my daughter's AirBnB in Kingston. People love it, as does she. Earthworks, lasting useful art, beautifully made, mechanically indestructible. Shall we prorate the cost of its initial purchase throughout its use this past decade? I'll let you do the math. Not terribly much. Earthworks. Same corner. Same excellent and practical art. The lighting and display is excellent, and the work is always professional quality. The media and styles are diverse, but the art always has that something extra: humor, a different point of view, an unexpected angle that creates work to be enjoyed for the long term. Our favorite framed art is from this gallery, as is my favorite kitchen pottery and my favorite sterling silver chain bracelet and necklace. Now I'm waiting for a custom-made 'felted' mini-bag for my Samsung phone. I love the varied types of art this small shop provides! Best of all is chatting with the artists who, by turns, staff the gallery. They all seem willing to go out of their way to help, whether it is with one of their own creations, another artist's, or a question about the town. Nice people! In summary: Very interesting assortment of art, always fresh, Pleasant and well informed artists. Very good prices - the quality, I believe, could demand more. Downside? Deciding on what to get next and, maybe who to get it for.

Featuring works by a variety of local artists including paintings by Jim Jacobson, hand-crafted wooden tables and shelves by Mark Carpenter, and many, many different artists, each one better than the next. Artists take turns manning the gallery, so on any given day, you can talk with a Someone about Something that they have made. Very nice, indeed...I've spoken with the woman who did my stained glasswindow, the person who crafted my shelves, and (of course) the artists whose work I have yet to buy. But will... Tonight (this being the first Friday of the month) Port Townsend will hold its monthly Gallery Walk. Stores stay open, wine and goodies are served, festivities include free theatrical performances and...yes... The Gallery 9 folks will all be at the store to show you their latest creations. SO......... Its only a hop, skip, and a jump from SEATAC. Two hours by car, a ferry ride or two away (Folks.....clap your hands with me if you want that new Seattle-to-Port-Townsend passenger ferry.) Come on down for a fun-filled evening along Water Street. And when you pop into Gallery 9, tell 'em Dorothy sent you. They probably won't remember me...but they'll be happy to see you any way!

When I let her know that I had planned on buying jewelry, she informed me that I should have interrupted her phone call. I told her I didn't think I should have had to do that. "I'm doing BUSINESS!" Was her reply, and then, "BYEEEE!" She alienated a local who wanted to purchase local art. I won't be walking through the doors of Gallery 9 again. Sadly this is how local artists are being represented on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in PT.

He welcomed us in and let us browse. We had made the rounds and expressed our fandom to the artist, even though we didn't have the resources to purchase. He was ready to chat, so we hung out for awhile and talked with him about his art and experiences. He told us about what was happening with the county and about some issues worth voting on. He's a very nice guy and a brilliant artist. If you are in Port Townsend, be sure to stop in to the Max Grover Gallery!

William's Gallery specializes in locally made artwork from the Pacific Northwest of Washington State. They have amazing art glass by artists in the Port Townsend area too. In addition, you'll find some nice paintings, jewelry, wood art, chocolates and textiles. It's a really small gallery, but almost all of the items are handmade, so at least you're getting something original and special.

They make comments like the artist is dead so there won't be any more of these pieces made and we are the only place that the artist sold through in the states. I did my own research later and found out that the artist was very much alive and that he is also sold through Macy's department store. Don't believe anything Bill (co-owner) tells you.

There were many pieces up for sale on the walls, mostly large pieces and in sets such as triptychs. They were either nautical or of nature in general, such as landscapes. Acrylics on canvas, the art is bright and cheerful. We didn't purchase a piece, so no feedback on the purchasing process.
