My daughter is dyslexic and ADHD, and my son is ADHD and struggles with anxiety. 4 years later, they are both getting ready to earn their black belts, they assist in classes, and my daughter even worked Summer Camp. Great place for kids. New facility is clean and nice. The instructor for the littlest kids ("little ninjas") is excellent. My five year old daughter has been doing it for about 6 months and loves it so far. Pricing is my one gripe. It's pretty pricey unless you commit to an entire year and pay a down payment. We did the down payment to save money, but now she's locked in to a year, which makes it harder to have time for her to try other things like soccer or dance. read more

This review is for two separate areas of this facility. The first part is for taekwondo. Both of my kids received their junior black belts at this Dojang. I seriously would never take my kids anywhere else. The entire staff is extremely attentive to all of the children. Master Nyls is a one of a kind instructor who works magic with the kids. They promote self esteem and confidence, honesty, integrity, and many other attributes that have been lost somewhere along the way with kids nowadays. The second part of my review has to do with their fitness program. We kick box, lift weights, and challenge ourselves in every single class. It is a completely empowering experience and I highly recommend it for people of all ages, men AND women. Ms. Vicki is our instructor and she makes sure that every class is energetic and safe. She ensures that everyone uses the correct form and will also show you how to modify an exercise if needed. I cannot speak highly enough about the fitness members as they are all extremely wonderful people who always offer encouragement along the way. Best. Place. Ever! read more

Northwest Marshall Arts has done a great job with my three kids so three loud cheers!! The instructors are attentive and patient and my kids have really enjoyed their time there! Both of my kids attend class here and they have grown leaps in bounds. They are confident, better mannered, and very disciplined and I attribute that to NWMA. There is enough rigor and discipline to engage the kids without overwhelming them and bopping them on the head. The place is also relaxed enough where kids can make friends and feel excited about coming to the next class. I've been taking the fitness classes at NWMA for over two years and love the program and the people. The instructors are friendly but push you to do your best. The owner cares about all his customers and works hard to make his business a friendly and family oriented place to come to. My fellow classmates are another big draw to the fitness classes. It's like 'Cheers' but sweaty. NWMA combines cardio kickboxing with strength training as well as offering a 10 week fitness program. As with all fitness programs it only works if you work the program. I've worked the program and seen the positive results. If you're looking for an awesome children's birthday party, I highly recommend this place! We're from Reno and have been to so many birthday parties where you're just a number and another face. Nyls was so great and fully engaged from the get-go. We had over 20 kids of all ages and he was so patient with all of them. It was non-stop entertainment: from karate lessons, laser tag, and samauri sword cake-cutting, to karate chopping a board for the grand finale. I had so many parents come up to me and tell me their kids said it was the best birthday party they'd ever been too. Will definitely be back for future birthday parties. Highly recommend! read more

My six year old has been a little ninja for about a year and a half now, and I just can't say enough good things about NWMA. Their program is truly comprehensive, it doesn't only teach martial arts but also discipline, teamwork, control, and so many other core values we all want our kids to learn. My son has developed so much confidence, focus, and problem solving skills. And the teachers are amazing, they truly care about the kiddos, know them all by name, and go above and beyond to help them grow. There are many extra curricular activities such as picnics with bounce houses, parents night out parties, and Holiday parties, and movie nights in addition to the great structured classes for ALL ages. It is so nice to have a business so vested in the community and my child's personal growth and development. Wow! We just celebrated my sons 5th birthday at Northwest Martial Arts. Master Nyls throws a party that is a picture of perfection. He sets up the party, cleans up the party and everything in between- he even provides goodie bags for each child. All Mom had to do was bring a cake! My husband and I appreciated how he learned each child's name and treated them with respect and asked the same in return. He taught manners in such a positive and fun way all the while giving a martial arts lesson. As an added bonus each child went home with a belt.
