I mulled it over for quite a while before deciding to leave a review. This will be long and…read morethorough, so I apologize for the read, but I felt the Doctors behavior was inexcusable. I came in to see Dr. Osgood about a month ago. I had been struggling with what I though was a cornea scratch/tear for about a week. I had gone to Indigo Urgent Care in Marysville and been given a standard bacterial antibiotic ointment. Unfortunately my eye got worse, not better. My eye was red, itchy and would constantly weep/cry. My vision was blurry and I was incredibly sensitive to light. It felt like I had sand coating the underside of my eyelids...it was terribly unpleasant! So I looked up Physicians in my network and made an appointment with Dr. Osgood. They were polite on the phone and able to get me in within a couple days. I came in for my appointment 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and waited patiently. I was taken back to an exam room and had a polite woman perform the initial work-up. She wasn't very friendly or personable, but was thorough. She left and I waited about 35 minutes while several staff members poked their heads in to let me know the doctor would be there soon and to apologize for the wait. When Dr. Osgood finally came in, he reached his hand out to shake my hand as I had to wipe a tear that had fallen from my eye. He immediately jerked his hand away with a visible cringe and stated "ohhh and you just touched your eye....". At this point I felt like I had been left out of a diagnosis discussion that had already been had and tried not to panic. He walked over, grabbed a huge bottle of lotion sanitizer and filled my palm with it. Then he proceeded to examine my eye. He found a dendrite and informed me I had eye herpes. I have never had a cold sore in my life (HPV-1). I am also 31 weeks pregnant and testing for genital herpes (HPV-2) is included since it is communicable during childbirth. That said, I was instantly terrified. I had no idea what this meant, but given how the doctor was behaving I was starting to panic. He told me that he was going to prescribe me a very expensive medication that he normally gives in conjunction with oral meds, but that I could not take seeing as I was pregnant. He didn't explain much else. I felt rushed out of there with more questions than I walked in with. He gave me a coupon that would hopefully save me some money on the prescription and told me to go wash my hands and we would set up a follow up appointment. He did not want me to use the sink in the practice and instead directed me to the bathroom in the building lobby. When I came back in, he was talking to the front desk staff and did not notice me behind him. He then walked back to the exam room I had been in (about 10' from the lobby) and proceeded to lament to the two female assistants about how they would need to sanitize everything, including the chair because I just couldn't stop touching my eye. The ladies laughed about it while he sighed. This entire exchange was audible from the front desk/lobby. He then came back to the front desk and in front of two other patients in the lobby asked them to locate the clipboard and equipment I had touched because everything needed to be sanitized. At this point I was crying. It was a horrible experience. I felt like a leper and the patients in the lobby were staring and alarmed as well. I ran out of there... I was exhausted, in pain, super pregnant and there were literally dozens of more considerate ways that could have been dealt with... Especially how he chose to handle it in front of other patients. I ended up having my follow up with Dr. Jones at Physicians Eye Clinic in Everett. This doctor knew why I was there, shook my hand without flinching and told me that this physicians behavior was completely unnecessary. He said that herpes itself hardly lasts long on dry surfaces and that even if I cried a tear into someone else's eye, over 95% of the population carries HPV-1 and it was extremely unlikely they would develop eye herpes even then. He said that this is a relatively rare presentation and usually happens to people whose immune systems are already compromised (which included me because I was pregnant). I had two more follow ups with him and the professionalism he and his staff displayed towards me were so very much appreciated. I felt like a human being with an unusual problem instead of a disgusting, diseased patient. It was after my experience there I decided to leave a review and report Dr. Osgood's behavior to my insurance company. It was a really scary diagnosis and I felt he could have handled that situation loads better. I will not return here and I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for comprehensive and compassionate care.

I highly recommend NW Eye Surgeons and Dr. Osgood. I've had one eye done (cataract surgery) and…read morewill have the other one done next week. Wow! What a difference it has made in the first eye. Dr. Osgood answered all my questions in a way which that was easy for me to understand. I highly recommend Dr. Osgood.
