There may have been some that made it into the fridge after we were done, but they were gone by morning - I'm sure they made some late night conversations even more enjoyable. The place we were at for the retreat was Bishops Ranch in Healdsburg and our group was responsible for the cleanup and had designated volunteers. However, the team walked into the pavilion and kitchen well after dessert and great conversations and everything was not only cleaned up, but leftovers wrapped and put away for people to take home the next day. It was cleaner than when we arrived. That was truly an extra gift she gave us especially given the heat, cramped kitchen and no AC...she was amazing. We had beef stew with polenta which was fantastic, an amazing mac n cheese, and delicious shepherd's pie. She also made us a beautiful (enormous!) cheese platter and a chicken provencal with quinoa. When we originally reached out to him, he just said that they could do it, and we were ecstatic. At our first tasting, he had already gone to his local pupusa spot to analyze the timing, and watch the whole process. He hadn't done pupusas before, but had the drive, determination, and confidence to pull it off for us. When our wedding day came, we along with every one of our guests were absolutely blown away by the quality of every bit of food and drinks that they provided us all with. He was able to find the wife of a Salvadoran friend, and her mother, to help him make them all fresh on our wedding day, on a plancha that they were able to bring. From the yucca fries to the plantain chips, from the guacamole to the curtido, from the coffee to the agua frescas, from the salsas to the amazing service, from the compostable serving ware to the incredible bartender. I also called multiple times and he never returned calls. I can only assume he got a bigger gig and chucked our contract in the trash. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
