It has a range of play equipment for children and benchs for accompanying adults to sit and watch/chat. There's two sets of swings, one for younger children and one for older children. A big boat provides climbing opportunities and a slide and fireman's pole as well as imaginative play being the captain of the boat. There's an assortment of climbing equipment for older children as well as a baby giraffe slide, little swing and playhouse for very little ones on a softer, squidgy surface. The park is well used but the equipment is frequently covered with grafitti, a complete shame. It occasionally suffers from vandalism and then the repairs can take a while, leaving the equipment cordoned off. It's a nice place to take children but could be better maintained.

The Lake is a well-stocked resource for local fishermen, and there is a lot of lovely wildlife to see in and around the park. You'll regularly see wildlife photographers taking snaps. Check out the visitors boards describing the wildlife around the park. The park also has a model boating club, a small café shack (open only during popular hours) and a good play area for kids, with a wire slide, roundabout and other apparatus to keep the nippers amused. There is ample parking for visitors, and it's a good walk around the lake. In short, I love visiting the park here to take a walk, relax and unwind! How lovely to have these kinds of parks on our doorstep.

One circuit of the park is about a mile on good walking paths, just watch out for goose poop. Ideal for wheelchair users. Keep an eye out for the wicker Gruffalo! You can get to the Angel via bus, the 21 Angel bus service between Brandon and Durham stops here, and also goes via Newcastle city centre and Gateshead Interchange, do be advised it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and there are no food/drink or even toilet facilities nearby, so do plan ahead. The Angel is such a beautiful structure, it is actually viewed by approximately 33 million people a year, due to people passing on the A1 and East Coast Mainline, but it really is much better up close and in person when physically visiting the statue. The field it is located in is an ideal place for a picnic with a great review, especially when the weather is nice. 4*
