I haven't had good experiences with dentists in Redding, so I was hopeful but guarded when showing up for my new patient appointment with Northstate Dental. Let's just say I left with not only a beautiful, clean smile, but a renewed vigor that I could actually get the care and service I expected from a local dental office! Not only was every single person I interacted with super friendly, but it felt like they truly had my comfort and concerns in mind at all times. The woman who did my appointment took multiple x-rays and pictures, being extremely thorough so her and the doctor could get a full understanding of where my dental hygiene was at. She explained what she was doing every step of the way and checked in on me to make sure I was comfortable. I was use to a teeth cleaning feeling way too fast and messy and the doctor only showing up to poke a few teeth, tell me it looks good, and then leave. Not here! She spent a sufficient amount of time making sure each tooth was cleaned properly and the doctor was in the room for probably 15-20 minutes going over all my concerns and options. They asked me if I had any specific questions or problems and then made it a point to answer each one and put a plan in place to follow-up where needed. I didn't feel like just a number or just another patient to push through the process! We purchased the dental savings plan so we knew our preventative care was handled and I feel the price ($475) was very affordable for everything it covers. While I am not looking forward to getting a few teeth fixed, I feel confident it will be handled with care and precision here! Thank you so much! read more

THIS DENTIST OFFICE RIPPED ME OFF! I was using blue shield insurance agency for my dental visits. I was given a very reasonable estimate for the work they were going to do, so I scheduled several appointments and paid my copay after every visit. However, after a few weeks, I got a surprise when I found out my $50 fillings were now going to cost $150 and I had already done several of them. I asked the office staff about it, but they told me they had estimated my costs for a different plan than the one I had. I then called the insurance company several times to ask about the lower price plan, but it turns out they don't even offer that one in California. I asked the dentist office again about how they estimate the costs and when their information was updated, but they repeatedly wouldn't give me specific information and kept saying it was based on the plan that wasn't offered in California! I originally thought it was a simple mistake and asked the office staff to take some responsibility for giving me the wrong estimate, but they simply told me that I was responsible to pay the full amount. After several attempts to have them lower my bill with no success, I decided that this was a calculated scheme they use to get people to sign up for several treatments with a low estimate and then hit them with a higher bill later. One of the staff was even rude to me on the phone when I told her that I thought they made a mistake on my billing estimate. I wish the staff and billing here weren't such a scam because Dr. Sorrick is actually a nice guy and a good dentist... however I think the office staff are intentionally deceptive and unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes. Unless you want to pay 3x the amount you are quoted for your dental work, AVOID THIS OFFICE! AS FOR THE REPLY BELOW Unfortunately, the lower price plan which you speak of is the one you quoted me the estimate for! Not the plan I actually had, and now I have to pay the difference for your mistake? You originally quoted my treatments at about 1/3 of what they actually cost, then after I had already done 2 of the most expensive treatments, the higher bills came in. I double checked the pricing on the quotes and none of them match the numbers I wa given by Blue Shield. The only plan that matches those numbers is the IFP Hmo plan which isn't offered in that area. Your office either needs to update its estimates, or give people the price you quoted them. Its an unfair business practice, making people pay more for your mistake. read more

My most recent visit went very well. I needed a crown replacement and was apprehensive about the procedure. Ali very gingerly gave me the anesthetic. It didn't hurt a bit! Dr Orlando took the time to greet and speak to me a bit before "digging in" making me feel a little more relaxed. The assistant was very professional and efficient, however I didn't get her name. Robin was friendly in making my next appointment but when it came to my billing question she passed me to their office Manager, Jennifer. She was quite helpful in explaining my costs. I went to Dr. Orlando yesterday to get a tooth checked out that had been bothering me for months. I was apprehensive as I had not seen a dentist in six years but the visit went very well. The staff was super friendly and accommodating (I was fifteen minutes late, which is de rigeur for me and they didn't chide me) and all of the dental equipment was the latest technology. Nice clean office with the usual People magazines, coffee and free toothpaste samples. Best of all was Dr. Orlando, who had great bedside manner. He listened really attentively to my tale and dental woe and, the best part is, made me feel really assured about it. He seemed genuinely kind and caring. Not a scary dentist at all! I go back for a filling and cleaning in a few weeks (book your appt early as he seems to be a popular dentist and doesn't have many slots open) and I am not dreading it all. read more

To clarify, I haven't had the pleasure of being treated by Dr Orlando so this review is for his partner Dr Dan Sorrick. I have to say, if anyone reading this needs a Great Dentist, I can't recommend Dr. Dan highly enough. Not only does he do a great job, he is very personable and makes it a pleasure to go to the dentist. I actually look forward to my next appointment! And who looks forward to going to the dentist?! Dr. Dan is also the ONLY Dentist who actually called me personally after business hours to check on how I was doing with my new temporary crown. Now THAT is above and beyond the norm from any other dentist I've been to. Super dentist, super staff too! Wish I could give 10 stars! read more

I called this dental office to enquire about becoming a new patient. The first person who answered the phone was very pleasant, however she worked in the back office and was unsure if the dentist was a provider for my dental plan. Reasonable and sensible, thank you for being honest. She put me on hold and transferred me to Theresa?. Theresa said the office wasn't a provider for my insurance plan but they would be happy to bill my insurance for any treatment. I commented that I couldn't do that as the out of pocket costs would be greater. She disagreed with me, stating that most dental plans pay preventive care at 100% even if the dentist is not on your plan. When I said that wasn't correct for my plan, she began to give me an attitude. Somewhat surprised, I have never had that happen while discussing what my health plan pays for treatments. As to the cost, my plan doesn't pay for preventive care if the dentist is not a contracted provider. Having a bad day? Don't take it out on me please. By the way when a potential future customer calls, don't finish the conversation with a snarky, "Good luck with that then". Guess I'll look at other dental options in Redding, who needs the hassle with uncertain billing, thanks but no thanks. read more

I started my dental care with Dr. Sorrick about a year ago. I have found the office staff to be very helpful and informative concerning what is covered by my insurance (Blue of CA HMO). From the beginning they gave me a print out of the dental procedures I needed and what my insurance would cover. Robyn and Theresa are both very helpful. There is no hard sell to make you feel pressured but just informative as to what your needs are. Dr. Sorrick has great chairside manner and talks you through what he is doing. I am nervous when going to a dentist but Dr. Sorrick and his staff make the experience as pleasant as possible. I drive a considerable distance to see Dr. Sorrick and would not change dentists even if I found one closer to my home in Siskiyou County. read more

Although Dr. Orlando is not my dentist,his associate, Daniel Sorrick is. I began going to Dr. Sorrick in Feb. of 2017. He put me at ease on the very first visit. He and I share the same birthday, though not the same year. I am old enough to be his grandmother. I knew what teeth I had left in my "old" mouth could not be saved. He agreed and I soon began getting them all pulled. That was finally all done in May.I then got my temporary plates. These, of course, needed adjustments of which there were many. All of the people who work in the office are VERY nice and most accommodating. Anytime I needed an adjustment all I had to do was make a phone call and they would work me in. I now have my permanent plates and am very happy with them and I am told by many people that they are beautiful. So with all this said from someone who has always had a fear of dentists, I will HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dan AND his staff. They are all truly wonderful. This also includes the front office girls. Although I am a senior citizen I am quite sure Dr. Sorrick is equally as good with children as well. He has a pleasant personality and a nice smile. Another thing I was very pleased with is that I never had to wait past my appointment time. They were always ready for me. The girls in the front office are all just super. Theresa helped me apply for Care Credit and explained ALL my charges and what my insurance would pay. I never left that office in pain or with an attitude. Robyn always got me an appointment whenever I needed it. read more
