While Aurelio's pizza might not technically be considered "tavern crust", it is absolutely one of the best examples of a thin pizza I've had. Over the years, Aurelio's have expanded to many locations in several states and today we found ourselves in La Porte, IN to once again sample pizza excellence. Our large mushroom half sausage came in about 15 minutes after ordering and looked perfect. I was so excited to begin eating I forgot to take a picture so you'll have to trust me that it looked as good as it tasted. We always order a large even though we can only eat about half in one sitting. This pizza reheats so well that we enjoy the rest later or the next day. Hard to describe and even more difficult to grasp if you're not from the Chicago area but real Chicago pizzas have what I call a "purity of Ingredients" where everything goes together so well. Here, the sauce is subtle but dominant. Over the years I've probably been to maybe 10-12 Aurelio's locations and the consistency is unbelievable. Service was great and the pizza was better! The perfect ending to a quick weekend trip.

I attempted to take pictures of everyone's meals, but because our party was kind of large I did not get all of the pictures. This particular restaurant with its location, sitting on the Greene of their golf course take my breath away every visit. It is a great place for a first date. Overall experience, is definitely five stars. If I could give more stars I would because they truly deserve it.

This is my friend's favorite restaurant, and while I like the brisket and ribs (the BBQ is all pretty good actually), I cannot STAND to come in there. I have a sensitive nose and the smell of my clothes/hair grosses me out after leaving. The first time I went, my daughter was an infant and we used the carseat carrier. It was December so we had coats on, the whole bit. When we got home we stunk! We had to take the carseat apart and wash it as well as our coats to get the smoke smell out and we bathed once our clothes were being washed. They need to figure out a way to ventilate better, they've lost business because of that! I know I won't go in, I will order to go and plan on showering before going anywhere else. Even a 2 minute pick up/pay will leave you smelling like a smoker. Love the bbq, but the sides are very non exciting and the place needs some help with decor big time. Other than that, it's a great place to get BBQ, just plan on it being your last stop before a bathtub! read more

My wife and I are both in the middle here, we've eaten here at lest a dozen times, most every time it was very good, I myself have had better service from folks of a younger age, but this is LaPorte and most good hospitality isn't taught in some places. But that doesn't mean they were rude, not at all, very friendly, and put up with my (in my wifes mind) bad jokes yet superb sense of humor. The Mississippi Nachos are great fresh don't take them home, the pulled pork is great as are all the burgers and dogs. The sauces aren't like where I was raised where it has an abundance of season and spice, but this aint where Im from:) I think if this place had just a touch more homeyness and not such a open echo feel, and just a smidge more spice in the sauces, I would come back more often and perhaps tell better jokes. read more

Anyone who gave this place a poor review obliviously has personal issues, we have dinned here for the past 6 years, the food is great. Many times my Company has me order food for our meetings, and everyone loves the food, and we have Employees here as far as NY, and they are always pleased. Meat tasted like it was a few days old pulled pork wasn't thoroughly heated (perhaps re-heated is the appropriate term) What really floored me is that BBQ sauce costs extra and is automatically added to your tab!
