On Monday, July 27, during one of the worst storms in the Midwest, I visited the dealership to purchase a 2018 Nissan Sentra listed for $5,000. I test drove the vehicle, decided to buy it, and was ready to complete the purchase. Unfortunately, the dealership lost power due to the storm, making it impossible to finish the paperwork. I waited for about an hour before leaving because there was still no power. The following morning, I stayed in contact with my salesperson, Hashem, who informed me the dealership was still without power. We agreed that I would return Wednesday after work to complete the purchase. Then, just five minutes before I got off work on Wednesday, I received a call informing me the car had been sold to someone else. This is what makes the situation so frustrating. We communicated on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and at no point did anyone place a hold on the vehicle, even though I had already test driven it, committed to purchasing it, and the only reason the sale wasn't completed was because the dealership had no electricity. A simple "sold pending" sign or a hold for a customer who was actively working with the dealership would have shown basic professionalism and respect. Instead, I wasted multiple days, rearranged my schedule, and got my hopes up for nothing. I left feeling misled, disappointed, and completely undervalued as a customer. Unexpected circumstances like a power outage aren't the dealership's fault. However, how they handled the situation afterward absolutely was. Customer service is about communication, follow-through, and doing right by people. In my experience, Kunes Chevrolet failed on all three. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this dealership based on how my purchase was handled.

After thoroughly inspection the technician named Adrian stated that he will need to replaced the strut due to leakage. That being said, they provided a courtesy vehicle, allowing us to carry on with our day at no extra charge, which made things much easier for us. Whoever completed all the work on the vehicle, did an amazing job. The service at Karl Knauz is truly impeccable. From the moment you arrive, you're treated with professionalism, transparency, and genuine care. Kristy from service department is knowledgeable, attentive, and takes the time to explain everything clearly, making the entire experience seamless and stress-free. I simply came here since it's closer, They SAID they cut keys at Karl knauz too which is why I brought my registration. When I asked why I was handed a blank key the ugly smelly boy in the parts department I was talking to simply shrugged and didn't even care. I was told my refund would be sent to my address I have still NOT got my refund. I will get my refund or my new key I was SUPPOSED TO GET in other legal ways if means if need be. I inquired about it to get their best price and a lease proposal. Steve Link quickly responded to my email and sent me two proposals that met my stipulations. He presented a competitive sale price, no money factor markup (I never pay a markup), and $0 down. He also agreed to match Carmax's trade-in offer. He was very straight to the point, putting forward their very best offer upfront. He was very responsive and upfront via email, and when I wanted to go on a test drive, he had the car ready very quickly within just a 30 minute notice. I sat on their offer looking at other options; I was also cross-shopping different makes and models. I appreciated that there were no 'hard-sell' tactics. No other local Jaguar dealership was able to beat Steve's quote on the F-Pace--none. Fields stated flat-out that they were not able to compete. Unfortunately for Imperial, I was able to negotiate a deal on a 2019 Audi Q8 that I simply could not refuse. It's a very long story, but essentially there was an issue with the car I intended to purchase, and I appreciate that they were honest with me about it up front rather than trying to cover it up just to close the deal and make the sale. They have integrity here. I was then going to get a different car color, but then some things in my personal life came up that put everything on hold for a few weeks. By the time I was ready to get a car, they didn't have the one I wanted in stock, but another dealership that was even closer to me did, so instead of waiting for a dealer trade I went ahead with the other dealership. But, everyone at Highland Park was great - I worked with Ken and Daniel and they were very accommodating and patient, and it's very low-pressure here. A lot of people complain on here about the "Lexus Plus" no-haggle setup, but in all my extensive research and trying to get other dealers to negotiate, HP's pricing was extremely fair and most other dealerships "best and final" offer was higher than HP's set pricing. It was also extremely straight-forward in terms of the one-person from start to finish process. The dealership is also very nice inside, which I would expect from Lexus, but wasn't always the case at other Lexus dealerships. Everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful, so this place does take some of the stress out of a car buying.

Conveniently, for him, he informed me at that very moment that it was being marked up $10K for inexpensive sealants and a half body PPF job. I asked him if we could negotiate to include a full body PPF as this was a collector's item. He went silent on me and sold it from under me. I think arithmetic is not his forte, as that would have added more margin for them. Bless his heart. Thank the universe that he's not in the finance department ;) Lexus corporate would agree that this is not Omotenashi, no matter what 'master' certification he claims to have. Demerit number one. I wrote to a sales manager, Kevin Bennett, to assist me. I explained what had happened, and was told that management would assist me from here. Kevin told me that he had two LC's inbound, neither reserved, and that the policy would be to begin taking offers on these as soon as they arrived in Chicago. I have recorded calls on all of this. Maybe this can be some weekend listening for their GM, Benjamin, on how to not run a business. Ray would certainly have done things differently. Kevin told me that all offers would be considered, even though I had already been promised a unit with my previous deposit link. He told me that they wanted to look at local buyers (I have a residence near Bartlett), and that a trade-in would be important (and luckily, I had a 2024 Lexus to offer up as tribute). For weeks, I would not be able to reach Kevin. Voicemails. Emails. Asking staff to put him on the phone. If things couldn't get more unprofessional, Kevin pawned me off on Mike Afanasyev. I politely declined to engage Mike, as I had spent hours already with Kevin. He had assured me that I would be able to place my offer once the LC arrived in person, and that he would assist me here on out...right?! Oh, Kevin. You're special. When I finally got Kevin live on a call last week, I told him that it had been confirmed to me that the car had arrived. I needed the appraisal done on my 2024 Lexus in order to submit my written offer on the LC. This was all presented as a formality, and I was happy to go along with it. I got him the VIN and a dozen photos of my car same-day since he suggested that we do it over email instead of in person in their dealership last Friday. Demerit two for ignoring me for the last five days, Kevin. If management can't tell a transparent and honest story, they shouldn't be have their position. I've managed teams from 5-500, and you would never last a week at one of my companies. It all makes sense now as to why you wouldn't meet me last week. You couldn't look me in the eye to tell me what you had done. To nobody's surprise, Mike Afanasyev texted me today, to tell me that the LC had sold. In the spirit of being a stereotypical car salesperson, lacking tact on all fronts and in desperate need of any commission, he tried to get me to buy a 2022 car that I've never once expressed interest in. Yuck. Demerit number three. You know what they say about three strikes and being out: Lexus of Highland Park is out of touch, out of ethics, and out of a five-star review. I expect some Android response from them, because they are a heartless and mindless operation. So let this factual recap be a cautionary tale to anyone considering a purchase or lease from Lexus of Highland Park: don't do it. Take your money to McGrath or Fields. I always service my vehicles here and recently purchased a new ascent. I had also purchased several of their premium insurance add-ons. I went to the service area for a windshield ding, tiny door ding, and my passenger mirror dimmer was broken. They sent me to their other service area for most of it. I was then told they were unfamiliar with the insurance I purchased, even though I bought through them. They said I had to call a number which I did. The rep I spoke with explained that it was the service department's responsibility to call and initiate. Service also sent me back to the dealer because they don't work on mirrors. So I go back and all the mechanics have left for the day. So I make an appointment for the next day. Same story, different day. Franco tells me I have to call the number and initiate a claim. Franco eventually takes pictures while the mirror is being looked at and says he will get on it. I'm waiting for about 2 hours on the mirror and they find a pin sized mark from what they guess was a rock and they say they can't do anything because it's cosmetic and that the cosmetic damage needs to be fixed first. So at this stage it seems they didn't even address my initial concern. Which was what looks like a huge internal crack barely visible but more importantly, the dimmer is only dimming half the mirror and it makes it difficult to see out of when driving. Then they try to charge me around $500 for it. Mind you I've had this new vehicle not for very long. I explain that I was under the impression that this was covered under my warranty, either regular or the others that they sold me and that I was not prepared to spend that. I'll say it again - they said they wouldn't address the dimmer malfunction which I assume they are blaming on this pin sized mark which cannot be seen by the naked eye. Then he says they still have to charge me for the inspection which is $250! They ultimately waived the fee but the way I've been nickel and dimed here is ridiculous. Meanwhile, I go back to Franco a couple hours later and he says he hasn't called anyone yet but he would get on it later in the day. It has been over a week now and I have heard nothing from anyone. I regret purchasing from this dealership with all the hassle I've been through over the years of being a local and regular customer and I would honestly in good conscience not recommend them. They could make this right but there is clearly no effort or desire for them to do so, unless I sink more money into them. So, for the time being, I can either give them $500 on top of the $55,000 plus I've already given them which may or may not even address the dimmer malfunction which is what I needed and asked to have looked at, or I can live with it, along with the cosmetic issues I currently have on my new vehicle. Beyond disappointed!
