I finally visited The Lilburn Branch which moved to City Hall in 2017. This new location is…read moremassive with front and back entrances and a beautiful lobby. CHILDREN SECTION - I took my son there to check out children's books and was blown away by the huge section dedicated to young kids. The facility is also furnished with all iMAC PCs and had a lot of learning games for kids. I came with my son on Saturday, so we got to participate in one of their kid's activities where a group of kids take turn reading with 'Riley the Dog'. Even the toilet in the kids restroom was designed at a low height specifically for toddlers and hound children! ADULT SECTION I went there primarily for my son so only skimmed the adult section. I felt like there are a lot fewer books than I recalled compared to the old location. This is why I only rate 4/5 stars for this location. THE STAFF The highlight was the hospitality and great service from its staff. The librarians was so helpful in telling me about all the kids activities offered at the library and so nice to my son. One of the librarians even gave me a small tour of the place and highlighted some of the services and features for adults including assistance with tax filings, etc. also I filled out my information for a library card so it took only a couple minutes to get my physical card when I got to the library and presented a utility bill for proof of residence and driver license CHECKOUT Checkout is a breeze. It is done at a self check out machine, where you scan your selection and library card and can be completed 100% by yourself, super convenient. Beautiful library, excellent service, and a great place for kids and adults!

The book selection isn't great but if you want anything, just go online and order it. This is more…read moreof a playground than a library. Loud kids, babies screaming and crying with no sound insulation from the children's section. Definitely, NOT a good place to study.

Last night was no different, is easy to get to and there is plenty of parking garages within walking distance. Robert W. Woodruff Library is the main library of Emory University. The Woodruff Library Building also hosts the Goizueta Business Library, Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library, Marian K. Heilbrun Music & Media Library, the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship, and the Matheson Reading Room. The main entrance is on the second floor, and has study areas on the first through third floors. Besides the main building, there is a tower of 10 floors serving as a storage of books. The Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) is on the tenth floor of the tower. I was here for an event hosted by the MARBL, it houses a diverse body of primary sources associated with the African American experience, from literature and history to politics and popular culture. Anyone can visit the collection and not just students so that's a neat fact.

What I would do differently is to take a leap into the deep end of the pool of art. I would move to fewer local and well connect artists sample the different. And that means for-me less outsider art and more creativity. Check out the J B Speed museum in Louisville KY. The difference is staggering.

My biggest complaint about this location is it is incredibly drab, little color or decor. Anytime I go I grab what I need & leave, it's not a place to hang out & read or just enjoy being there. Where we're from all of the local libraries, even the tiniest ones are community hubs- very welcoming, inviting with nice whimsical touches that draw you in, & lots of different community events for all ages going on. Not sure if it's lack of funding or the Atlanta area has so many paid attractions that they don't invest in their important local resources which is disappointing.

There are many events hosted here so check the schedule that's usually posted in the front. Those events are mostly catered to kids so I'm sure families will find them fun. Holds are kept on the far left as you enter the library. The kid's section is on the far right. There are at least three help desks staffed with helpful caring staff. They make this library very welcoming and inclusive for everyone. Computers are available in the middle of the library. Parking is easy and spacious.

I don't know if this happens to you, but I find a TV show or movie that sounds interesting and then…read moreI discover I can't stream it, much to my dismay. Enter the public libraries. There is a strong chance they might have the show or movie on DVD! DeKalb County Public Libraries have now extended their DVD loan period to 3 weeks, same as books, which is much appreciated. I actually came to this Clarkston branch since they had a particular disc that I was looking for; you can check the online catalog to see what's available. The main parking lot is behind the library, and the entrance is to the side. The driveway to the lot is narrow so drive slowly. The building shows its age and it's not the biggest location, but it's still a pleasant library. The restrooms were clean (though there were some empty cigarette packs at the back of the building), and the other patrons were well-behaved. It was easy enough for me to locate the DVD area and find what I needed. The guy at the circulation desk wasn't the friendliest, oh well. Don't forget your mask since they're required. If you are a monster who doesn't like books, periodicals, and multimedia (kidding), you still should stop by the Clarkston Library to admire its enormous stunning hibiscuses! Whoa, gorgeous.

Nice library! I came…read moreto the Dekalb county Public library in Clarkston to study on a Friday afternoon, and this was one of the better libraries i've been to. Nope, it's not as technologically advanced as other locations, but it is clean, there is space for studying and it's actually quiet! If anyone has kept up with my reviews on libraries, my biggest beef has always been someone was loud and disruptive, but on this day, I was relatively undisturbed....outside of the guy next to me who asked me if he could borrow a pen. The library isn't the largest one i've been to, but there's a respectable amount of books and computer stations, both immediately in front of you as you walk in, and to the left of you. The entire right side of the library is the children's area. All the way to the far left there's about 5 cubicles for studying, as well as a few chairs as well. Several Tables are also found while walking to this area. On this day most of the cubicles were empty, so I was able to take a spot in the padded chairs and get to work. One cool thing about the cubicles is they all come with their own individual lamps, for the late night studying ( only mon-wed...they close at 5pm thurs - sat), a nice little touch I haven't seen any other library branch do yet. 30 minutes before the library is to close, they alert you via loud speaker, and continue to do so every 10 minutes until it closes, so you don't have to worry about not being alerted of it's closure. Parking at the library is interesting. There is a parking lot to the left of the library, but the actual "library only" parking is at the rear of the library itself (turn right into the library lot and follow the road around). It's a smallish lot, being able to hold less than 20 cars and likely less than that. Getting in or out of this lot in either direction isn't too tough. I definitely like this library. It's small, not the most technological, but it does what a library should do....keep a quiet atmosphere and for learning. What can I say? I'm a fan!
