They are attentive to their needs, development and personalities. We are greeted by staff every day who know their names (theyre twins, so this alone is an accomplishment!), likes/dislikes and everything that they've been learning. I came here in the winter and really loved walking the trails throughout the center. It helped that one of my friends, Dan, manages the programs here and would point out all the cool trees, plants, and general history as we walked along. He truly made my first time at Woldumar so memorable and his passion for this nature center truly shines through in everything he does - even when he's off the clock just showing boring ol' me around! I've heard so much of all the work Dan has put into this place over the years and he truly makes Woldumar shine bright for all those who come and visit, whether for an afternoon or for a summer-long program! I imagine this place overrun with kids and adults alike when the weather is great and can only imagine how much fun it would be to experience this place in the summertime. There is truly something for everyone here and definitely recommend this if you're looking for a low-key place where not a ton of people will be with some majorly high-key fun and exploration!

Nah, I'm just pulling your chain. No headless spirits in these woods, but it got your attention, didn't it? Now for some facts: miles of enjoyable, non-challenging trails through a surprising variety of landscapes. Decent visitors center with restrooms. Free; donations accepted. Fair chance for sighting small wildlife, especially waterfowl. Occasional music or craft events may require a fee.

Launch, do not let these ladies go :). The place itself is also super nice - bball for my son, many kinds of trampolines, the laser tag that was included in the package we bought was super fun, and the arcade games that have are just the best ones there are are. The place itself was awesome. The only con was seemed a little overpriced- I hope they run some Buy One Get One Free deals on weekdays or something to get more customers in - I hope they stay open for next time I'm in town with my kids!

This is an extremely old YMCA and it was sort of like going back in time and using a small town facility. People at the front desk were friendly and let me right in without any drama or phonecalls or long forms to fill out - which I appreciated. Took all of 15 seconds to get past the desk. Facilities weren't great, though. Iffy and old and limited. But still grateful for them and they're pretty ncie here. Somewhere between a 3 and a 4. Now I'm gonna Park this review on Yelp and Branch out to the next one if that's Oak-Y with you.

If you are looking for a slow, leisurely group ride with up to 10 people down dirt roads, past…read morepeople's homes, and through a small wooded area, this is the place for you. Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children.

I had a good experience at this small business because I got what I paid for. We paid $100 ($50…read moreeach) to ride a horse for an hour. Really informal though because I didn't get a receipt. Call sherry, make a deposit, then pay the rest in cash or card (card incurs an additional 4%). Then sign waivers. I had a light-brown horse called gunner. He and I clicked right away because he gave me no problems. There was a time where the horses were frightened by something on the street and almost took off, but because we received about 5 minutes lecture on how to take control of the horse, we gained control of them quickly (even though this was my first time). Much of this experience was informal, but truthfully, I actually preferred that way because I felt like I got a real experience of horse riding, rather than someone breathing down my neck or by riding a horse in a limited area on a barn. We went about 2 miles out then 2 miles back and in the woods. Almost all of the drivers (except 1) were nice and slowed down so as to not frighten the horses, and many even waived at us. In my opinion, if you want a full experience without judging a book by its cover, go here. If you want a more formal experience and hand holding, probably want to go somewhere else. Unfortunately, the informality (not receiving a receipt) is why I took away 1 star.

In Jan/Feb they have frequent 'starlight snowshoe' events from 6PM-9PM where you can do the trails in the dark lit by moonlight and well-placed garden lanterns. It's a great event for families. Snowshoe rental is super easy and VERY inexpensive (less than 5.00 I think?) and they also rent XC skis although I don't know the cost.
