I've been to this hospital 3 times and all were very good experiences. My mom my sister and I have all had treatment there. They are extremely kind and thorough. My mom has been there several days and they have done extensive testing on her and are very thorough with their care for her. The PT therapy is great and much needed. The social worker has been wonderful to work with as well in helping to place my mom in care after this stay. I definitely recommend this hospital. read more

Nurse Laura was sooo amazing before, during and after my Colposcopy procedure. When she initially greeted me out in the lobby she was so warm and kind. While getting settled into the room and going about the another check ups I honestly felt so loved -- and not in a weird way, but in a way where I felt genuinely taken care of and valued. Then during the Colposcopy procedure she was continuously checking up on me about pain levels, comfortability, she offered me multiple heat packs and pillow adjustments and she tucked me in with a blanket haha :) Then during the recovery time I wasn't pressured to leave right away. I was invited to stay as long as I needed and she checked in on me several times to see how I was feeling and provided me with apple juice and snacks. Even though the procedure was not pleasant due to its naturally invasive and painful nature (dealing with the cervix here), I still had a good time because of the experience Nurse Laura and Doctor Vu provided for me. Both were so lovely and nurturing! They also highly informed me about the procedure and explained all my questions thoroughly and listened attentively to my concerns. They were very interactive and communicative with me the entire time. Thank you for taking such amazing care of me! read more

Lakeville clinic location. I called the clinic to let them know we would be a few minutes late before the 12:45 start time. When I talked to the front desk I was 8 minutes late.  By the time the front desk got help it was 15 minutes and they couldn't see me for over an hour.  I've sat in the waiting room for longer than that in the past.  Front desk receptionist didn't bother to let anyone know before we got there. At bedtime on Friday night, my 4 year old child, my husband, and I, came here for a head laceration on my son's head (he tripped and hit a table). The reception staff was helpful, and then we waited for an hour or so. When we were admitted to a triage room, the nurse was super friendly and kind, and she got a doctor to come in fairly quickly. The doctor and his aid were both kind and gentle, but also confident and capable. They put pain killer in the cut and something I can't remember. Then, left for a bit. When the doctor returned, he stitched my son up quickly and told us that there probably wouldn't be a scar. After the stitching was finished, they bandaged him and gave him a stuffed animal (which he immediately loved!). I was really impressed by how caring and kind they were with him. While I'm not wanting to do this again anytime soon, I'm thankful for the care we received while we were there. read more

Another disastrous experience at Northfield Hospital. I got back from a trip overseas where I was in an accident and severely injured my knee. Couldn't walk at all, been using crutches, in bad pain. Called my doctor at Northfield Hospital, got an appointment on Wednesday. He said the knee looked pretty bad and I needed an MRI right away. Unfortunately "right away" meant the next day. Thursday I got to the hospital for my MRI 15 minutes early as instructed, but there was only one girl checking people in and she was busy so I was told to wait. 45 minutes later-- 30 minutes after my MRI was supposed to be-- the MRI department calls the front desk to see if I had come in. The receptionist explained that I had been sitting there for 45 minutes. Then I was told to go to MRI, they would check me in. Total disorganization. After my MRI the technician said it looked like a fractured tibia, among whatever ligaments and tendons had been torn. He asked why my knee hadn't been immobilized at the doctor's office the day before. Good question. The technician also said my doctor would have the results within 12 hours. Sure. By Friday 2pm (24 hours later) I still hadn't heard anything about the MRI results so I called my doctor at Northfield Hospital. The receptionist said someone would call me back. At 5:01pm his nurse called and said the MRI results weren't available yet, call back Monday. I asked to speak with my doctor, but he had already left for the weekend. Saturday morning, still in pain and not sure what the heck was going on with my knee, I call the "patient advocate" at Northfield Hospital, who seemed to be more of a "hospital advocate". She said she talked to my doctor and he would get the MRI results and call me back. Never happened. Later Saturday a nurse called and said that the problem was that the MRI technician had failed to transfer the results from his computer system to my doctor's computer system. She said they were going to ask him to come in on his day off to make the file transfer-- do his job, in other words. A few hours later, someone else from the MRI department called to say that when they tried to transfer my MRI results on the computer, they discovered that the radiologist hadn't actually written my report yet. Apparently Northfield Hospital doesn't have its own radiologist-- they subcontract that service out to a vendor, and they are closed on the weekend. So Northfield Hospital has an MRI machine but doesn't have anyone working there who is competent to read the MRI results. Lord only knows what they do if there's a car accident and someone needs an MRI right away. Helicopter them to Rochester I suppose. I've learned my lesson. Avoid Northfield Hospital, which is sad because it's less than a mile from my house. On Monday I'll go to Mayo in Red Wing. I know Mayo has radiologists at least, and I can finally get proper medical care. read more

Used their physical therapy as a clinic and they charge you as a hospital outpatient. Ended up costing over a thousand dollars when I have a $25 copay for clinics. They didn't even fix the issue. What a total waste of money, Find somewhere else to get your physical therapy. Go to another clinic not Northfield Hospital and Clinics unless you like to waste your money. This place provided the most careless medical service I have ever received. The good: The facility is very nice. The bad: Complete lack of professionalism by staff. Doctors and nurses. No follow through. "Your doctor will follow up with you" really means call us if you want. My experience was a sad one- in January, I was pregnant and in my second trimester. I experienced some bleeding and called in to speak to the doctor on call. She disregarded my concern and said that my doctor would follow up with me. I never expected Dr. Braun to actually call me but did expect a staff member to. I didn't hear anything and two weeks later went in for a routine ultrasound. The tech, who was actually very nice, wouldn't turn on the viewing screen or assess what she saw. After discussing the fact that I did not have an appointment with a doctor following my ultrasound, she found a nurse to tell us that our baby was no longer viable and sent us home. The hospital called me about an hour after I went home asking me to come back in. I show up 15 minutes before my appointment only to have the receptionist complain to me about how they're so understaffed and she is filling in because the regular receptionist is sick...again! Call me petty but I was pretty irritated with the lack of sensitivity. To make it worse, I sat in the waiting room 50 minutes past my appointment time. As I was getting up to tell them I was leaving, they called me back. I met with Dr. Johnson who gave me a prescription for an abortive medication and Vicodin then sent me home with the promise that Dr. Braun would follow up with me. Another 45 minutes after i left, they called me and said that i needed to come in AGAIN for a shot. No apologies, just a flippant- you need this shot so come back in. After experiencing terrible side effects and not hearing from my doctor for a week, I went to another clinic and have been very happy with my doctor and the staff there. Once the experience was resolved, I wrote them a letter describing my experience. Their response was a letter stating that my concerns had been addressed with the care providers, a note has been put in their file and they took my concerns seriously. Never once has anyone from the facility called to check on me or discuss my concerns. Seems like that should have been their first move. Oh, they did call because there was an issue with my insurance covering the ultrasound though- that turned out to be their error as well. read more

WE have had numerous errors on billing and sending us to the Northfield Hospital for a MRI that was definitely not an emergency rather than a free standing location. The cost was $1,832.00 rather than $287.00 anywhere else in the twin cities locations. We tried to work but the billing office but there was no help. That is probably 80 percent markup on cost which benefits them. We are very disappointed in their services. read more

my mother was brought in by ambulance to the north field hospital. My sister was there with her and my husband and i showed up a little later. Walked in ,put masks on and visited with my sister. She said she is just around the corner and I followed her to my moms room. A nurse came in and said she could only have 1 visitor. Oh, OK,sorry and my sister walked back to the waiting room. I was visiting with my mom and she was having blood drawn. She told the nurse she needed to go to the bathroom. Nurse said she would let them know at the desk. Few minutes later she said you have to go tell them I need to go now! I walked out and said to the 5 nurses standing there that she needs to go now. A rude male nurse said I'm coming! I walked to the waiting room. 5 minutes later my sister went to get her phone from moms room. Next thing my husband and I know we are being asked by a security guard to leave???!!! Said we were being "rambunctious" Covid rules.... This was handled so Poorly!!! Not once did anyone say Anything to us! I had to google covid policys for North field hospital to even know what was going on! We were escorted to the parking lot and told we needed to leave ! Again if at any time someone had explained the covid rules we would have happily complied.If there had been a sign Anywhere with their rules posted!! This was unbelievable how rudely this was handled!! If my mother hadn't had a fractured hip we would have had her transported to Fair view ridges hospital!! read more

I've been to multiple hospitals with my mom, and was very impressed with the service she got here from a small hospital. She went from the ER to the critical care unit to the in-house rehabilitation, and all were great. We we especially impressed with the attitude and kindness of every staff member we dealt with. read more

I had an operation for a hernia. Everyone at the hospital was super kind and gave me the time I needed to answer my questions and my concerns. It was my first time ever being put under, and it was a great experience. I was nervous before the operation, but once I was there I felt completely taken care of. The staff had good senses of humor which helped to take the edge off my nervousness. I would have no reservations going there again. read more

You'd think severe abdominal pain and numbness in extremities and face would be enough to get a doctor to look at you expediently and you would in fact be wrong at this hospital. My wife was experiencing those but no one really seemed to care. The admitting nurse took a phone call in the middle of admitting her. The exam nurse took notes on scrap paper. It took over an hour from arrival to when a doctor finally saw her all the while she was on a hospital bed in agonizing 9 out of 10 abdominal pain. If I'd known proper ER protocol for severe abdominal pain was ignoring it we would have stayed home. After reading the other reviews here I'm not surprised that this is the worst hospital experience we've ever had, which considering you normally only go to the hospital during bad experiences is saying a lot. read more

The most unprofessional, cold, dissorgenised hospital I have ever been in. Thank God it was for only one night. I developed a infection after rotator cuff surgery and spent one night at Northfield hospital. The anesthesiologist who put me to sleep needs to go back to school for a refresher course, or jail. My wrist and arm felt like they were on fire, I was screaming in pain and thrashing up and down on the table. Absolutely no follow up, called two days later and talked to a different anesthesiolgist who said some people feel a slight burning pain and usually don't remember. Yeah Right! Bottom line is stay away if you can. My hospital room was a mess. A bloody pillow laid on the floor all day, my nurse was just out of school (he was fine, but needed help which he didn't get) and no one knew who was in charge. These aren't bad people, but they needed leadership. read more

I had surgery, my thyroid removed. I was so very happy with the medical and personal care that I received from all levels of the staff. My doctor came to see me numerous times, answering all of my questions. Plus, he gave me his personal cell number! The nurses were caring, quick to respond, and solved all concerns and requests. Living so close to the Mayo Clinic, many people asked me why I wasn't heading to Rochester. There was no need for me to leave my community. My care and follow-up could not have been better. I knew that my well-being was important to everyone. Having such a quality facility in our region is a gift to everyone in the Northfield area. I called to ask a question and was transferred to the ER nursing station where a male nurse answered the phone, sighed several times, treated me like I was his biggest problem, and hung up on me mid sentence. I called back to have someone else answer my question where I was transferred to the front desk of the ER to have them tell me "they didn't know what they wanted from me". You didn't have to hang up on me. Thank you for treating me with the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a hospital. read more

Worst hospital I have ever been too. Was in a car accident and suffered from whip lash. was in severe pain, could not turn my head. Took an hour to see the doctor, she comes in and first words out of her mouth were "I do not believe in any kind of pain killers". Worst care I have ever had. Care was good but if you are a self pay patient, find another provider. They offer ZERO self pay discounts. In other words, you get billed the full amount that an insurance company would be billed which is inflated because the hospital/clinic knows they only get paid 40 or 50% of the billed amount. read more

Went in to ER with possible stroke symptoms. Was immediately taken to exam room and seen by a doctor who was attentive, listened, and examined me carefully. I had a CT scan, blood work, and carotid artery ultrasound, all done quickly, professionally, and by pleasant, caring people. Results were delivered quickly and explained thoroughly. And it wasn't a stroke, so that was the best news. read more

I visited the urgent care in lakeville for what I thought was an eaar infection. My visit got deterred quickly when my blood pressure was elevated (due to white coat syndrome) and being 34 weeks pregnant. the doctor on call became extremely concerned and immediately called OB and stated I needed to go be monitored in northfield. I explained this is normal, my regular doctor is away of this issue, and nothing else is wrong. After becoming extremely frustrated due to the on call doctor refusing to listen to what I had to say she sent me on my way to northfield without completing my initial reason for the visit. I was very i satisfied with the doctor and my visit. I understand she was concerned and doing her job, however her lack of willingness to listen to her patient was hugely alarming and frustrating to both me and my husband. She called me later that day to follow up and finish my initial appointment over the phone and questioned if I had went to northfield. I stated no (knowing my own history and knowning nothing was wrong) and she argued with me over the phone about my decision. I will not be going to back to urgent care for a while due to the lack of patient quality I experienced. I felt like a number more than a person. read more

I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. Very uncaring and unprofessional, and understaffed. I went in to ob/gyn at 8 weeks concerned about some light bleeding. I have miscarried several times before and I told the doctor that I had taken progesterone in the first trimester in my previous pregnancies in order to prevent miscarriage. The doctor did not prescribe me anything, did not listen to my concerns, but insisted she give me a vaginal ultrasound. When I told her that I was not comfortable with this, as I believe it was the cause of a past miscarriage, she said that there was nothing more she could do, but that I should make an appointment to come back in 3-4 weeks for my first o.b. appointment. The doctor also said to make sure to come back if I miscarry to check for anemia. Pretty heartless I thought. Well I did miscarry 8 days later. No follow up from the staff. I also had to wait for almost an hour past my appointment time in one of the exam rooms because the nurse "didn't know where the doctor was." Horrible experience and I would never go back. read more

I went to the ER after a biking accident last summer and was told in the ER after an X-ray and exam that I sustained a concussion and skull fracture. I had a severe headache and nausea, including sensitivity to light, and was left in a room lying on a stretcher with a neck brace facing bright lights for at least half an hour. The nurse from the ER told me I would have one of the best nurses in the hospital for my overnight stay. If she was one of the best nurses in the hospital, that is very sad. I consistently heard her telling other nurses as well as my own parents that I "just fell off my bike" and did not have a concussion or fracture. She was very rude the entire time I was with her and I could sense by her attitude and language that she thought I didn't have a severe injury and just wanted attention from the staff. She wouldn't even change the bandages I couldn't reach that were old and sticking to my back. Later the next day, one of the other nurses told me I shouldn't have anymore morphine before going home, yet this nurse offered me morphine afterward and I declined. I don't think she ever read my file. When my guests arrived, she came in acting very phony and put on a show about how she ordered me food and how I just "fell and hit my head" when I had ordered food myself and had not seen her for almost the entire day. read more
