It is hard to fathom that back/spine surgery is "mis" handled this way when your back is your infrastructure and will forever impact your ability to move, function and live any quality of life. "Dr." Sunny Kim took that all away for my dad. My dad: a man, father and "Bompa"(grandfather) who is honest, trusting and has gone above and beyond for his family and others his entire life. The fact that he unfortunately fell prey to this doctor is extremely sad and forever life changing. My dad is in his 70's and should have been considered a "high risk" patient and a consult should have taken place with his established primary care doctor before ever seeing him as a candidate for this level of surgery. None of this happened. If this was taken into account, I can guarantee the surgery would not have happened. In fact, the hospital where the surgery took place had "no idea" where his prior health records were. This protocol is part of ANY and EVERY surgery. I looked up the Core Ethical Standards (ABS/AAOS) for surgeons that have strict coding guidelines for procedures ( like any other "specialist") Why weren't they followed? 1) Patient-Centered Care- Surgeons must act in the patient's best interest. Did anyone ever discuss WORST case scenerio? You may never walk again, you will sleep sitting up and have no mobility, your independence will be close to nothing and your quality of life will forever change. Why isn't Dr.Kim held to this standard? 2) Integrity, safety and evidence, and professional care follow this. Everyone who has seen my dad, asks how does he "feel." He is a man of few words and his pain is a 10 out of 10! We are eager to learn what type of follow up care could possibly help my dad. It will be 1 year in Feb. since his surgery. How is this even possible? I highly encourage anyone considering this surgery to reevaluate and his advertising/commercials.They are misleading and false. My husband came to this clinic in severe back pain, barely able to stand. The doctor assured us that a steroid pack, MRI, CT, and injection orders would be sent to help alleviate his pain. However, the prescription was never sent to the pharmacy that night. I followed up with the clinic the next morning, yet by lunch, the orders still hadn't been sent so I followed up once again. It's now Saturday, and my husband has been left waiting in agony until Monday due to the clinic's lack of follow-through. This level of negligence and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. If you need urgent, compassionate, or professional care, I STRONGLY ADVISE looking elsewhere. read more

After many conservative treatments for my back and leg pain (PT, nerve ablation, and a failed spine surgery) I finally was referred to Inspired Spine. Dr. Abassi ordered a CT with contrast (painful for about 5 minutes) he recommended surgery at L3-L5. I was nervous about spine surgery because my older brother had spine surgery and never really walked well again. However, the Dr. suggested I get a third or fourth opinion ( which I had already done and didn't like their recommendations) I promptly agreed to his recommendation. On May 3, 2024, I had surgery. After the surgery, I was in excruciating pain. My wife actually left because she couldn't take it anymore. But, they provided ample pain meds and I calmed down. I was walking within 6 hours of surgery with a walker, but got rid of that within a week. Today, my back and leg pain are essentially gone, and I am golfing. So 4 months after surgery, I am golfing a full 18 holes. My score is not quite what it used to be, but I am careful, hitting the ball straighter and without pain. I'd call that a very successful outcome. He says I can't make you age 30 again, but at 76, I'm happy to feel like 50! I should have done it sooner. read more

Back problems beware! This is the perfect place to be. The Staff are absolutely amazing!! The Dr's are fantastic also. The Dr's look at your problems and really listen to you. After searching and interviewing three different surgeons, I chose Dr. Kim because the surgery was less invasive than any other. I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm living a pain free life after receiving a 3-level (L3-5) fusion surgery on 2/22/22. Because of a small complication caused by surgery, Dr. Kim told me to get a CT scan in October and make a follow up appointment so he can "release" me. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because of the employees in the office. They said Health Partners won't pay because Inspired Spine is out of their network. They said I'd need to pay $300 at the time of the visit. I tried to explain that HP would pay 40%, they said "that's our policy so there's nothing we can do." I then called the Prior Authorization Team and explained the situation. I asked them to contact HP (because that's their job). The girl said she'd check with her supervisor and someone would call me back. I never heard back from anyone so I called HP myself and they will actually pay 100% because I have met my out-of-pocket. I then called the Prior Authorization Team back and left a lengthy message telling them that HP will pay 100% for my visit because I reached my out-of-pocket. I asked them to call me back after they check with HP. It's been 5 days now and I still have not received a call back. I am very upset and have come to the conclusion that they just drop the patient after 9 months. I'm not sure I want to go back their now and I feel I need to find another Orthopedic doctor to "finish" my follow up, if they will. I'm very disappointed in the lack of customer service. read more

A plus! Dr Abbasi is an excellent doctor, He was able to diagnose and then fix my nagging back issues after countless doctors had previously tried and failed. He analyzed my condition in the first appt and took as much time as needed to explain my options and answer my questions.
