He lost a job, his business, almost all friends (that's maybe a good thing after all) and almost lost me. The "clientelle" is rather friendly. The guards do not push above the roof. The food is bad, but there's commissary for a hundred bucks a week. Then you can "pay" the locals to cook something for you. He fought his case and won a time served. What an experience.

I'm comparing the visiting process to 1 Police Plaza near City Hall and to Allenwood penitentiary in PA. The Friday visiting hours are from 5pm-7pm. If you get there on time, fill out the application, put your personal effects in locker that is provided, you'll be in the visiting room in no time. The security guards weren't as mean as I expected. In Allenwood, those guards were dicks! They didn't even allow you to use the lockers even though they had them. 1 Police Plaza isn't too bad but the visiting room is small and stinky. Here at MDC, it was fairly spacious. In the visiting room, there were private rooms for attorneys and inmates. There's 1 food vending machine, most items were $4-5. Two soda machines, all beverages were $2.75 and only 1 microwave to heat up your food. No utensils, just napkins. Sounds awful but still 10 times better than 1 Police Plaza. During visitation, the guard tells you where to be seated. In Allenwood, you choose wherever you like just as long as an inmate does not sit next to another inmate. The only thing that you're allowed to bring inside is cash money, only singles or five dollar bills. No 10's, 20's, 50's, 100's and you must keep the money in a zip lock bag. They aren't too hard on you if you don't have a bag. In Allenwood, they break your balls over everything and treat the visitor as if they're the inmate. Verdict - From just a visitor's point of view, it's not too shabby. Getting here by train was the worse part. Taking the R to 25th street station took forever. It's about a 7-8 block walk from the station. There's also a waiting room outside of MDC. There's air conditioning but it is still relatively hot because of the non tinted glass windows. I considered driving here but I'm not familiar with the parking situation and whether you're allowed to park under the BQE without a permit. I didn't want to risk it so I wound up taking a near 2 hour train ride to get to this darn place. All in all, knowing that a relative is now closer to home, it's a good sign. Just make sure you don't wear tan or brown colored shirt or pants and just follow their guideline policy before visiting an inmate. The process will be quicker than you think if you come correct.

It's…read morein the middle of block between Ferry and Lafayette (it's around the corner from the PNC Bank on Ferry). The library is a sand-colored brick building with a small private parking lot. Like the other NPL branches, it serves the needs of the immediate community and provides library resources for adults and children. The neighborhood is home to a large proportion of residents from Portugal, Brazil, and Latin America. A distinguishing feature of this branch is its available Portuguese-language and Spanish-language collections, as well as library assistance in Portuguese and Spanish. There are computers available for Internet browsing, word processing, and access to the library's electronic resources. This location also offers computer classes. Newark Public Library is a wonderful library. Its branches are essential in supporting the NPL's noteworthy vision and mission. For that, I give the branches 4-stars for the work that its employees and volunteers do to enrich the lives of the people in the community.

How someone gets a notice to appear in court when you never received an actual parking ticket nor…read moreyou or your car was at the time and date listed on the notice is beyond me .... But here I am - on my day off , in the rain on Halloween in downtown Newark 8:30am in the morning. Smh So there is no free parking. If you drive in- you have to pay to park in one of the parking lots . There is a parking lot in front of the court building . Minimum is $6 and max is $15 . You walk in - go thru security and then you can proceed to the courtroom assigned to you . Bathrooms located . They are very strict on courtroom rules so abide. Most people don't listen and sometimes I found it also hard to hear the staff. Staff seems annoyed and burnt out - not mean but tone of voice you can tell they rather not be there. If you can turn off your cell phones , sit in rows not marked for police or handicap , not eat or drink in courtroom - then you are good . You can't even have the phones out- they have to be put away . It amazing how many people don't pay attention . My time was at 8:30am ... but judge didn't come out until 9:30am. 8:30-9:30am was basically waiting, doing roll call, and talking to prosecutor around 9:15am. You pretty much talk to prosecutor first and discuss whether you want to plead guilt or not guilty. Once you discuss with prosecutor- then you sit again- packed like sardines in the rows and wait for judge to call you Luckily I was like the 5th person called and thankfully I was able to plead my case and support with documentation- and thankfully the judge dismissed my case . The judge and the judgement was the only positive thing for me . That is why I have any stars at all. I was out before 10am Hopefully this info can help someone ...

It is not clear that you are the applicant." I am the applicant. Holding their own notice with my name on it. They cannot verify I am myself. The response ends with: "This mailbox is not monitored. Please do not reply." Cannot file online - no access code provided. Cannot get help - they claim they cannot verify me. Cannot reply - mailbox unmonitored. Cannot reach anyone - phone maze, useless chatbot, no email. They collect $2,840 in fees upfront. Filing fee. Fraud prevention fee. Premium processing fee. Then make completing the process impossible. The Contact Center is designed to prevent human contact. Emma chatbot loops endlessly. Phone system redirects until you hang up. No email support exists. When applicants face issues with their own cases, USCIS hides behind Privacy Act excuses to avoid helping. They blame applicants for systemic failures they created. This agency collects billions in fees annually while providing no functional support system. Applicants are treated as problems to be avoided, not people to be served. If you must interact with USCIS, document everything. Expect no help. Budget for legal representation because their "self-service" system is designed to fail.

I've been a part of WPA for over 2 years now. My experience has been excellent! I came to WPA on my…read moreown after I applied to their Women's Leadership and Media Project (WLMP) program not knowing exactly what to expect, but getting more out of it than I ever imagined! The atmosphere they created for the participants was warm, welcoming, and interesting as topics and guest speakers changed weekly. It was a fulfilling program where I formed a great bond with the ladies in the class as well as the WPA staff. I also became a CLU or Community Linkage Unit client and they assisted me with information and services on anything I needed at the time. I then became an Employment Training participant and completed an internship with WPA and afterward, they assisted me with permanent placement work! I recently became a first-time mom and WPA has been consistently supportive not only checking in on my daughter and me but from the moment they knew I was pregnant they have gone above and beyond in assisting me with items for my daughter and I'm not just talking about diapers and wipes! They are a truly dedicated team of people who fight a fight for women and support women as I have never seen another organization do!
