By now, those who follow my reviews know I'm all about supporting local businesses, especially in…read moremy hometown. Well, this place is about as local as they come. Because this business is literally out of someone's personal garage.
When you first pull up, you'll notice you're in a rural neighborhood. So, if you pull up to a beige, double garaged house, then you're in the right place. It will be on the left side of the road as you approach, btw. I had pulled up to the wrong house at first, but luckily had enough sense to call and check with the owner. Imagine how much of a right t**t I would have felt like waltzing up to some random person's house requesting a tint removal.
I gotta say....as popular as this guy's work apparently is, he is severely underrated here on Yelp. What I mean is, I expected there'd be more of a buzz in the number of reviews for this place. That's okay, though. I'm all about contributing to the publicizing of a trustworthy, competent local business.
So, I came in for just a tint removal. "Why just a removal and not an installation?", you might be asking. Well, you see....NH has this bizarre law in effect that dictates you cannot have any tint on your front windows. Like, at all. Nada. Nein. Zero. Zilch.
I'm not gonna get into why that law exists here. You can Google it, if you wish.
Regardless of my vehement contempt for this rather unnecessary law which has NOTHING to do with safety, I'd rather remain compliant than possibly get pulled over for not having passed an inspection. Yeah, that's the thing. The reason I needed this done was because most (if not all) auto shop's will straight up refuse to inspect your car if there's tint on the front windows.
Anywho, this guy, Jamal, has quite the comprehensive setup. And before you ask, yes....he accepts electronic payments, despite it being out of his house. He's got the pay square. Just don't write the man a personal check and you'll be alright.
The most relieving part was that I was in and out in less than 45 minutes or so. Some places will actually ask you to drop your car off for the day. JUST for tint removal. But, I mean...tint removal should only take about 45 minutes for two windows anyway. It's a simple process of applying intense heat, a scraper, and some fancy solution to clean the remaining gunk off the windows. That's about it. Plus, the whole thing ended up costing me $60 even. That's $30 per window, FYI.
It's also nice to meet an owner who is friendly and approachable. He'll chat with you a bit as he's performing his work. I recently went to a different shop, attempting to get similar work done and....let's just say I was not welcomed with as much hospitable fashion. So, I took my business elsewhere. As my grandmother always used to tell me, "manners will take you where money won't".
I'm grateful this guy is doing what he's doing. He's providing a much needed service for a reasonable price. If you're in the market for getting tint work done, I highly recommend you give Jamal a try. He's an honest guy earning an honest living; a trait that is seemingly becoming less altruistic in most other businesses of today.
