If you're looking for a competent guitar tech, I recommend looking elsewhere…read more I brought a higher-end electric guitar to Kevin for a Tusq nut installation and a full setup. I provided a pre-slotted Tusq nut, a new set of strings, and a written note specifying the tuning the guitar should be returned in. Nut filing and setup work should be routine for an experienced tech. Kevin was personable initially, and we discussed the guitar and its issues. He quoted a 24-48 hour turnaround. When I picked the guitar up about a day and a half later, problems were immediately obvious. The low E string buzzed badly, worse than before I brought it in. When I pointed this out, I was told I was "hearing things," then that the buzz was "normal." It was not. The guitar was returned tuned to E standard instead of the requested Eb. The new nut and strings I provided were still untouched in the case. Action was extremely low (approximately 1mm), resulting in additional issues: the D string rattled in the nut slot, and the G string would not intonate consistently -- both clear signs of improper nut work. When I raised these concerns, Kevin became defensive and dismissive, eventually attributing the problems to the electronics, which is not a credible explanation for nut-related issues. He then unplugged the guitar while I was still checking it. The price also increased from $30 to $40 due to "more work than expected," despite the original issues being clearly explained and not resolved. I do my own setups and sought out a professional specifically for nut work. Unfortunately, the guitar was returned in worse playing condition than when I dropped it off. While Kevin was polite initially, he was unwilling to acknowledge or correct obvious problems. Based on my experience, I would not trust him with another instrument and would not recommend his services to other players. I would also advise caution when relying on the reviews posted on his website, as they do not align with my experience.

I trusted the "luthier" at this establishment with an $1800 guitar. I wanted the strings changed,…read moreneck adjusted and install a new acoustic electronics box which I provided. The guitar is advertised as an easy play guitar. What I got when I picked it up: Cheap strings. The bone saddle had been replaced with a plastic saddle. The electronic box had 3 out of 4 screws stripped out and the wiring was a complete mess as nothing was wire tied. The action was way to high and unplayable. The neck was adjusted properly. Not a big deal but the "luthier" did put a rip in the guitar case. I think I paid around $45 for the setup and in this case you get what you pay for.

This place is honestly a gem. The selection that they had here were absolute top quality…read moreinstruments, I went with a Breedlove guitar and have taken care of it ever since I left this establishment. The owners of this shop are absolutely mint people, their hospitality and helpfulness made me feel at home really, also if I'm not mistaken they have a dog that's around the shop so that's how I knew these people were people I could trust. Anyways definitely go here for your instruments and they do professional maintenance on instruments. I plan on coming back sometime in the near future.

I don't know, maybe I caught them on a bad day? Mike was…read morevery condescending in regards to a potential repair (guitar) that I brought in. He didn't seem interested in anything I had to say about the condition of the guitar...I was deemed guilty of neglect. Although I am not an instrument repair person, I have been playing for over 40 years and know a bit about the care of instruments. He gave me three different repair scenarios ranging from extremely minor to ripping out the frets, re-planing the fretboard and of course a re-fret. But I was also told that he is not taking on any new work at the moment (fair enough). I immediately upon leaving took the guitar to a guitar builder in Reigelsville Pa. and was told that a $40.00 fret dress to allieve the sharp fret edges was all that was required. No neck issues. Plain and simple, I did not feel very welcome at Mike's store.

NOT A MUSIC STORE It's a pawn shop of instruments built of broken dreams…read more The worse music store and business ever! Tony Bologna the music store's owner and is a scam artist. Kept us waiting for an hour. Even though there was a bunch of kids working in the shop that apparently were not qualified to scam a sale out of me, they saved me for Tony Bologna. He tried to get me to spend 250+ bucks on a student sax re-padding, he said they were professional pads. I asked him for the student grade, he said it was the same price. I asked if the Sax is worth it, he said ya it's worth it, but maybe I should buy a new used one. He said he could trade in mine and for a few hundred he would sell me a new one. I kept asking what is mine worth but he refused to answer. Turns out he had a nicer sax than mine on display that he was selling for $150, WHAT??? so why fix mine or trade it in? He said cause I love the sax... No I dont! I just wanna cheap sax to mess with...So when asked about the worth with "straight-up" like tell me!" talk - He started double talking me, and telling lies about my sax, that is when I packed up my sax and walked out. This place is a scam, they buy everything used like a pawn shop. All the guitars are crap and overpriced. You could buy three name brand guitars at Guitar Center for what he was selling his shity guitars for.... TOTAL JOKE, he was selling puppies from the shop floor and seemed more interested in selling his mongrel dogs than actually making a sale from his music store. Avoid this shop at all costs!!!!!!!!! Go to Allentown you will be happy you did.
