De’Angelo Interior & Exterior Painting

De’Angelo Interior & Exterior Painting

(2 reviews)

On January 23, I had a text conversation with Todd Austin, the owner of De-Angelo Interior and…read moreExterior Painting, to discuss the cost of installing new bathroom vanities in my home. During the conversation, he mentioned that he would loop in his partner, William Puckett Vasquez, in the discussion to provide his insights into the plumbing aspect of the job. I informed him that I was also receiving estimates from contractors for flooring installation. He mentioned that they also offered flooring services and could come to my home, measure the area, provide a their estimate and samples. He then asked if I had a budget. This made me feel a bit uneasy, but after reviewing the majority of comments I received on this App from contractors, I realized that his request for my budget information was not a red flag. On January 28, Todd and William arrived at my home to assess the flooring project. I have security doorbell video footage of William arriving and introducing himself as "Will with Todd." Shortly after, Todd is seen arriving at my house. I also have documented footage of them discussing the amount of my material deposit I would need. I asked Todd why Will was primarily speaking during the conversation. Todd explained that Will was his flooring expert and that he handled most of the talking about flooring. Before they left, Will assured me that they could work within my budget and offered me a good deal. He advised me not to consider hiring anyone else for the job. I first met Todd and William a few months ago when they came to my house to provide an estimate for removing popcorn ceilings. However, I decided not to do that project. On February 5 Will texted me this "Hey this is will with D'Angelos painting I have the samples for flooring in the carpets". Will came to my home February 6 with a subcontractor he said they use because he has access to less expensive flooring and Will showed me samples. I told him I would need a written contract. On February 7 Will texted me asking when I wanted to get started. He said he would need the deposit which was 65% of the total job 3 days before start of the work. I thought that sounded high but considering I was replacing flooring in every room I thought that was ok. On Feb 10 Will came with a contract which we both signed. No it doesn't say De-Angelo Painting on it but because Todd introduced Will as his Associate of De-Angelo Painting and Will was his flooring guy it was my understanding they both were contracting the job. I paid Will $2000 on February 10 and he came back on February 11 for the balance of the deposit $1445. The job was to start February 12. On that date I texted Will at 8:00 a.m. asking where were they. I got no response. I called Todd and he told me he knew Will was coming to my house to start the flooring but he didn't know anything about a contract. Todd also admitted that they use that subcontractor Will brought to my house. Finally Will texted me around 10:00 a.m. stating they were having trouble getting the flooring. I asked him to call me. He said he was too busy and would call me later. He asked if I wanted a refund and of course I said yes. He told me it would take 3 days for my refund. I told him I paid $2000 through Zelle. He could have sent me my refund immediately. He got nasty with me saying "It don't work like that ma'am . This ain't Home Depot , don't worry about it your get your refund." On February 13 I reached out again asking for my refund and he texted me saying "I told you the process don't worry , your recover your money. By midnight most likely". To this date I do not have my refund. Todd has been saying the contract is between me and Will. He has threatened to sue me for defamation of character after I sent them a demand letter. He says he is out of it. I disagree. He introduced Will as his expert flooring guy, they came together to my house and entered in a verbal contract, I have proof. Will introduce himself as Will with De-Angelo Painting just before he came to bring samples. What resources and agencies do you suggest I report this too. I may never see my money again but this cannot happen to anyone else. Seniors are always targeted. Todd denies any responsibility and is not helping me get any information I need to help get my money back.

This company has scammed an elderly woman out of her money. The owner arrived with an employee that…read moreworks with him to give the woman a quote. Later on, the said employee, will, arrived at her home with a contract that did not have him or his business listed. The man, William, scammed her a total of 3,445 and the owner till this day continues to work with with will, making sure they covered the tracks by trying to leave his business out of it. She had videos and photos proving they came to her home and Todd, the owner, stating that was his man to do the flooring for her sine he was the expert. Todd is still having will work for him so they clearly know what they are doing. He has been back and forth trying to convince people he has nothing to do with the situation. I called him to do a fake quote and also have seen will with him together. They clearly know what they are doing. By scamming people. Do not use this company!!!!!
