Sally is the only PT that I felt like understood my dysfunction and simultaneously restored my faith in my body's ability to run/spin/lift and exercise like an "athlete" again. I truly don't feel like I've met someone more intelligent in the medical field. Forever grateful for Sally's help - if you've been failed by PT before please see Sally !

Before I had my twins, I was a recreational long-distance runner and battled hip/IT band/knee issues - following my first marathon in 2007, my issues flared to the point of not being able to run. I visited a PT clinic in the neighborhood and just hoped for the best; however, after about 2 months of weekly appointments and no progress, I gave up (which also coincided with my pregnancy). Flash forward several years and I returned to running with less mileage, but still the same hip/IT band/knee problems flaring on occasion. Despite the first poor experience, I finally decided that I needed to try PT again - and I immediately thought of Sally. After my first session with Sally, I was surprised at how quickly she seemed to identify the problem. Further, the area of focus was NOT the same as the previous PT...I was a bit skeptical as my piriformis and hip were bothering me, NOT my back! However, the simple exercises she prescribed were so worth it! I visited her only twice and it was enough to get me back out on the road. Now when I feel like my issues are starting to flare, I return to those exercises to keep things in check. Sally is personable, knowledgeable, humorous, and honest. My two sessions with her were focused and simple and she provided at home work exercises that were straightforward and easy to do. I admire Sally and her interest in providing quality patient care and would not hesitate to visit her again!

I was asked questions, they did simple tests including watching my gait as I walked. I was given a few extremely simple exercises for my core, none for my glute. I did the exercises and didn't see any improvement after 10 days. I went online to WebMD and found exercises to build strength in my glutes that took amount 10 minutes a day. After a week, I could get into my car and climb stairs more easily. The side benefit is my balance is better. The cost for the one visit was $315.00. I expected more. FYI about a decade ago I had a back issue, instead of going to a P.T. I went to well qualified Personal Trainer who worked with me and helped me to strengthen my back. In the future I will go to a personal trainer at a gym. $315 would have gotten me 6 sessions.

I am so happy with the result! With the use of laser treatments, massage, stim and exercises, Jim has helped me tremendously. I am now able to lift small weights without pain, lift heavier groceries and exercise without causing neck and shoulder spasms. I'm now on the path to better health. Jim is an experienced professional who is also smart, kind, comforting and helpful. My visits were about an hour long and staff were always attentive, friendly and pleasant. I highly recommend Jim O'Brien, DPT and Harmeling Physical Therapy in Danvers.
