NSMW is, without a doubt, the best European auto repair business on the north shore. I have been taking my BMWs to James and his people for over 10 yrs. Their work is impeccable and their prices are fair (sometimes 20 - 25% lower than the dealers. Work is priced by what it will take to complete not by what "the book" says to charge! Good people, excellent work, fair prices, and timely service. Oh, and they can usually provide loaners at no charge. What more can you ask?? Give them a try. You WILL go back! read more

Went in for an oil change on my amg Mercedes c43. Fast and courteous service and reasonable price lower than the dealerships. Good guys, highly recommend. read more

Very thorough with communication. Double checked with me before resetting my modules. Didn't charge extra for pressing a few buttons. Got what I paid for. read more

We had a large oil leak repair on our 2021 Merc E63 AMG done by NSMW, great people to deal with. The job was done underestimate and on time. I can't say enough good things about the staff there. read more

Extremely professional, priced fairly, and they offer loaners. I will no longer use the dealership for my BMW

Additional work needed but done expeditiously. James and his team came thru and were more than fair with the price to do the work. The car is running great and looking forward to put a few miles on it before I put it away for the winter . Thanks guys read more

Staff is very knowledgeable. I was given bad info by a dealership that would have cost me thousands. I found NSMW, easy to work with and very accommodating. read more

After owning six new or certified used vehicles purchased from five BMW dealerships in the U.S. and abroad I have learned something about satisfying customer maintenance issues. The dealers can mostly be counted on to meet your needs, but rarely if ever will they exceed your expectations. That's why I use North Shore Motor Werks for cars out of warranty. Recently both spindles on the tailgate of my 2019 X6 failed. The local MA and NH dealers said that one of the needed parts was in a two month backorder delay. James leveraged the dealer national supply network, found the part with a dealer in Michigan, had it priority shipped, and my problem was solved in a week. James Hart and his "team" go above and beyond. read more

North Shore Motor Werks - Auto Repair Near Me - Middleton, Massachusetts

Best auto service shop I've ever experienced ! Long time customer, always leave happy with the integrity & service . Thanks to James & his top notch staff for helping me so quickly today when I slashed my tire on a curb stone. I was back on the road quickly for an appointment . I recommend you guys to everyone read more

When you think about a garage or a mechanic it's often to say I need them to fix something. James and the team at NSMW certainty can fix anything, but the real difference is they are problem solvers!!! That's their "IT" factor and why I recommend them if you have a BMW, Mini, or something else in their portfolio... I went for several BMW issues on a 8 yr old car and they not only fixed my car fast, professionally and fair prices, but they solved real problems. Problems others could not fix or couldn't articulate why I should have fixed. Their service model of using text technology for scheduling/communication to after repair follow up is why they get 5 stars. I am just thankful someone told me about them and recommend if you are looking at important repairs or funky problems others couldn't solve for your vehicle! read more

If you like me have a general distrust of dealers as their main focus seems to be upselling and high pressure tactics then north shore motor Werks will be a breath of fresh air to you. They have an honest straight forward approach to diagnosing your vehicle and giving you options to what has to be done right now and what we can get to next time when timing and budget might be better. Not at the cost of safety but adjusted for reality. The worked on my previous Mercedes and my present Audi and have gotten me back on the road in a timely and efficient manner time after time. Would recommend any time. read more

I wish I could say something about their work, but I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago and less than 24 hours before I was about to have my car towed there they called and cancelled the appointment. I was looking forward to trying someplace new for my 2000 Porsche Boxster. All he said was that he didn't have time to dive into a 24 year old Boxster and it would be two more weeks before he could look at it. The car isn't running right now and I don't want to wait two more weeks. Who wants to wait a month to fix a convertible in New England? The person who called was nice on the phone, but I was left with the impression that my car was too lowly to be a priority to them. Extremely disappointed and won't try them again. read more

Had an estimate from a BMW dealer for repairs on a headlight assembly. North Shore Motor Werks did the same work for more than 50% less than the dealer quote. They provided a loaner, contacted me before proceeding with the repairs and the work was done in a matter of hours. Great service, friendly and helpful staff and excellent results. read more

Extremely great service! Brought my '17 BMW X1 in for front brake service, new pads and rotors. They were the cheapest out of all the "Indy bmw service shops" and close to $500 cheaper than what the dealer quoted. Was able to get a loaner vehicle for the day, as I dropped off weds Pm to pick up thurs. they were very accommodating with me as my work schedule makes it difficult to drop off early morning. They will be my go to bmw service spot from here on out! read more

Highly recommend. Unlike other mechanics in my neighborhood who pay their customers to give them a good review, North Shore Motor Werks gets such high reviews because they provide great service and fair prices. I am so happy to have found them. I Just picked up my BMW 428i after they repaired some mouse damage in the right rear well and replaced the rusted rear brakes. I am actually happy to pay them because I trust them. James and Brad are true gems. read more

Never disappointed when dealing with this place. Their honesty is really outstanding. I have requested certain services. as recommended by other repair shops, only to be told that's not necessary. This has saved me a lot, as the fix is often something far less costly. Highly recommend this business to anyone with a European car as dealerships and other repair shops seem focused on profit only. read more

First of all I want to say congratulations to James and his staff on their new location. It may seem strange to some people that I included the staff in my review but they deserve recognition for their hard work also. I'm sure anyone who has had their vehicle serviced by Northshore Motor Werks over the years knows that . My daughter Jen referred them to me. She was the reason why I bought a Mini Cooper. ( so many great times with her Mini and mine). I can honestly say that I have had nothing but positive experiences with Northshore Motor Werks. When I first went there I thought it was strange that they closed at 5:00 and didn't work weekends or holidays. Who does that ? I quickly found out that it's a business that has priorities of family time as well. Hats off for that. Happy mechanic's , happy vehicles Seriously, now that the business has grown I was surprised to see that the hours were the same as they were in the previous smaller shop in Peabody. James I'm so impressed by your style and service. Did I mention that Veterans get a discount? Thank you James for your service and for paying it forward to fellow veterans. Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I only take the time to write reviews that are positive, that being said, this business deserves more than five stars. Northshore Motor Werks is the only place I would recommend to Mini Cooper owners as well as any other vehicles. Thank you for giving my Mini the service it deserves. read more

These guys know what they are doing with the German cars! I brought my Mercedes for the yearly maintenance. The Rep. was knowledgeable from the first phone call and the prices were half what the Dealership is charging. Other places could not give me a price over the phone. They either needed to see the car, or needed 2-3 days to look up what service A/B was & what it included. The North Shore Motor Werks Rep. knew what the service included and had a "set price" for it which means they had done it before & know what they're doing. That price, by the way, half of the dealership. I will be using these guys the next time I need service. read more

Was in the general area and found them online when some serious warning lights popped up unexpectedly. Drove my car straight there. Turns out car needed to be left for a few days of repairs. Excellent service - will definitely return. read more

Though I haven't used them yet for service, I have spoken with them on two occasions and they have been very helpful. I will be sure to use them based on their reputation and other Mini Cooper owners I have spoken with here in the Boston area. read more

Excellent service, work, and pricing. I have had nothing but great service the 3-4 times I've taken my car in for service. I decided to give them a go after a bunch of positive reviews online. Finally I found a good and reliable shop with top notch mechanics!! After installing front M3 control arms upgrade package on a e90 330i I went for the alignment to a different BMW shop and they couldn't bring it to specs, I've been told that my rear sub frame is bent most likely. North Shore Motor Werks were able to bring the alignment to specs and about 30% cheaper than the other shop. Great job GUYS! Would definitely recommend to everyone! read more

I am rather disappointed since when I mentioned to my wife as we picked up our Mini Cooper from NSMW that I should write a review after all the great and reasonably-priced service we had received here over the past five years (2009 Mini Cooper Clubman and now a 2015 Mini Cooper), I thought I might be doing good for James and his team. But almost all his reviews are stellar, and so I am just agreeing with (almost) everyone else: James and his team are polite, punctual, knowledgeable, hard-working, and priced under what you would pay at the dealer or in general. Thanks, James, and keep up the great work! read more

This was the absolute worse experience I ever had at any auto shop. I dropped my car off for a full brake job and two hours later got a call that, " ummm you have wheel locks and well ummm the lock kit was in the trunk and well ummmm we are just going to put a regular bolt on your wheel". I said wait what happened to the lock? I then got, " no one steels these wheels" And my wife's car doesn't have locks". what his wife's car had anything to do with any of this. I said well I dropped my car off with wheel locks and that's how I would want it back. He got angry and told me no and to pick my car up. I had to go keep calling back to try and reason with this shop..The guy at the shop continued to push back saying the lock was rusted. No not to break it that way the whole top broke off. I had tires put on 5k miles earlier with no issues. None and the lock was not rusted. No one should have to go through this for something they didn't do. They threw away an 1,800 job over $75 wheel lock kit. Nice going! Aweful experience and horrible customer service! read more

They worked on my Mercedes several times and did a fantastic job. I had been going to the dealer but these guy's were better. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Nathanial saved my car today! I had a crank pulley bolt break inside my crankshaft on my 2013 WRX, about 2" deep. I was not willing to extract it myself and wanted to get it professionally done. I had my car towed to the shop today, and by the end of the day they fit my car in and got the bolt out! This saved me from buying either a new crankshaft or short block if I wanted to do a hybrid swap. Cant thank these guys enough and will be going here if I need anything whatsoever on my WRX! I highly recommend them. Finally a shop that does amazing work at a great price! Thank you again. PS: I decided not to take it to the Subaru dealership, even though I have a full warranty, because of the recommendation to this shop! read more

Staff is extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Having moved here from a different state I was lucky to have found this establishment for all of my future repairs and car needs. My experience with these gentlemen started when I got into a car accident and needed a tune up as my check engine came on. My car would stall out like crazy - it was scary. They were not open and I drove there with my light on and George came out and asked if everything was ok. He checked my car with the code machine and told me it was ok for me to run it until I came in to repair it. This was while they were not open for business, folks! I was so grateful he did that. After making the appointment and coming in, my car is running perfectly months later. The owner here is also really, really exceptional. Definitely come to them if you need your car repaired! read more

Honestly, I was dreading my daughter's mini cooper needing service or repair. I've always owned American vehicles and am familiar with them. Mini is owned and built by bmw. That's good but it's going to be very expensive, I thought. The pricing here is very reasonable and the quality top notch. Will not hesitate to return when future work is required. Very pleased with this veteran owned company. Thank you for your service, both to our country and on my daughter's car. read more

Excellent service. Fair prices. James is extremely knowledgeable about german cars, a Porsche 911 in my case. And you get a loaner to boot while they work on your car. I definitely know my car was taken care of properly. I can't recommend them enough! read more

I would highly recommend NSMW to any BMW/German car owner who lives in Boston/North Shore. I'm pretty sure you won't find a better experience. They beat any Indy shop/dealer around for pricing and quality of work is second to none. James is known in the Bimmer forum community as being one of the most reputable and experienced BMW mechanics in the Northeast. This was my first visit and I won't be going anywhere else for any future service/repair work to my e90. read more

I concur with the other reviews. James runs a great shop with fair prices, timely appointments and services, and service that is far superior to the local Bimmer dealers. Good mechanics are very hard to find, and when you find them, you treasure them! James and his team are treasures!!! read more

If your looking to have your vehicle repaired with no BS, I highly recommend North Shore Motor Werks, These guys are extremely competent. We took our Mercedes C240 to three shops before getting an accurate and thorough diagnosis of our cars issues. I'll like to include that Flagship Mercedes was one of those shops, who actually misdiagnosed the vehicle after having it for a week. They actually told us we needed an entire new transmission to the tune of $6500. It was actually an exhaust issue, which was about 1/4 of the cost. These guys are not only extremely exceptional at their craft but also, reasonable and honest. read more

I just moved here from California and I have been looking for a place to service my '08 Audi A4 Avant and I'm pretty sure I found the spot. My engine light came on last week so I stopped by here on Saturday (seems like one of the few places that is actually open on a Saturday, so thank you!) and the mechanic there was super friendly and super helpful. He hooked it up to the diagnostics and told me what the issue was, then spent another 15 minutes fixing the issue and cleared my engine light. Then, I asked what the bill was and he said, don't worry about it. I was super impressed and super appreciative cos that doesn't happen every day. So stoked I found a good spot in case anything goes wrong with my Audi in the future. Thanks again. read more

My wife's maintenance light went on two days ago. Called this place and spoke to James (owner). I wanted it checked since we're going away for the long holiday weekend. He snuck me in at the end of his day today...told me it only needed an oil change right now, but also pointed out that her tires were overinflated by about 30 psi! Nice catch! Needless to say, we will not be bringing the car back to the franchise oil change place that starts with a 'V.' They are very good at overcharging and overinflating. North Shore Motor Werks was professional, fairly priced, and convenient. Check them out. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. James, the owner, was terrific. I called inquiring about a/c service for my X5 and he was able to quote me on the phone, and take my car within the hour. Tired of the highway robbery the dealership dishes out, I knew i needed a better alternative. I am SO thankful I've found this place. Very honest, stands behind his service, extremely reasonable prices, and delivers exactly what he says he will - I'll be back for any of my BMW service needs. James is a really upstanding guy who deserves to make it. Give him a try, you won't be sorry! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service had call to make an appointment after waiting a month to get the appointment James the owner call me up asking for information on what exactly was happening to my Vehicle as I started explaining to him all of sudden started to get aggravated and tell me it was going to cost thousands of dollars to fix the vehicle without even knowing what was wrong with the vehicle without even taking a look at it because he said he has years of experience etc having years of experience isn't going to allow you to make a statement like that until you physically look at the car on top of that he ask me how many miles were on the car ,so I tell him and all of a sudden he tells me I should just sell my car, first of all I never called this place to ask for an opinion on what I should do or not do with my car,I simply contact you to look at it to see if we can diagnose the problem, thats the first problem the second problem was the nasty attitude and the fact he hasn't even seen my car and know what the problem is, and is already starting assuming it was going to cost thousands of dollars really ? How do you know this information without having even look at the car ? Not every car not every problem is the same and yes experience is very helpful but how can you make a determination without evening taking an hour to check the vehicle ? this was all prior to the appointment, already having a negative attitude about what could be the cause to the problem of the vehicle assuming it was going to cost thousands of dollar without ever even looking at the car and telling me I should sell it all red flags I suggest people be extra careful dealing with shops like this, learn how to respect and talk to customers the right way very unprofessional and shady read more
